“What a surprise gem! Stopped in to get a treat for my spouse for his birthday. No small Bundt cakes available, so I got a cheesecake with fudge icing. Boy am I glad I did. The best ever. Graham cracker crust on bottom only, so you get a lot of pure, wonderful, creamy, and flavorful cheesecake. It was topped with rich, chocolate fudge icing, delicious. Then finished with some whipped cream and mini chocolate chips. Beautiful. The fudge icing is excellent by itself; the cheesecake is excellent by itself, so you really get two desserts but they go well together perfectly. And it is very big. 4” diameter and 2” high. We split just half of it because it is so rich and filling. Slowly savored every bite! Highly recommend this place and can’t wait to try their other treats! Thank you Mimosa for opening this bakery in our town!“

“Great local bottle shop. They have outdoor seating, great service, and excellent prices. There's a really cool shuffleboard and various areas to sit and talk or watch the game. Check them out sometime and see what's free on the menu for Sunday. I went and they had free chili! I'll be back.“

“Let me tell you we had the BEST experience here! The service and the cocktails blew us away. Between the four of us we couldn’t say whose drink was better, they were all perfectly crafted. I think the house blueberry margarita was my favorite. We adored our server—so sorry I can’t remember her name—but she took great care of us. The food was fantastic too—I loved my spicy clam and bacon pizza. Don’t sleep on Root and Vine, y’all!“

“From the moment you enter, you know this place is going to be special. They squeezed me in without a reservation which I greatly appreciated! The atmosphere is electric. Its light blues, greens and browns all come together beautifully with the copper table tops. It’s absolutely beautiful. The service was absolutely top notch. Liz, never missed a beat. And trust me, I beat that drum! Flawless appetizer bread with the best butter I’ve ever tasted. From there, I never wanted for anything and the salmon I ordered came out expeditiously. And cooked to perfection! Tender, flakey, juicy. The mashed potatoes and the Brussels sprouts were perfectly roasted and caramelized. The bourbon glaze on the salmon wasn’t for me (I ordered it on the side) and Liz jumped into action again bringing me a different sauce with a lemon twist. It was perfection!!I couldn’t recommend Treat more! It was far more than a treat, it was an experience and an amazing one!“

Sidetracked Brewery Brewery • $

“When describing the sidetracked brewery, the only word that comes to mind is excellency. Whole place is clean, great atmosphere and a temperate environment on a summer's day. Only furthering their atmosphere, they've got pinball in the back! The owners/operators are great people too, even putting the business aside. Worth your dollar! Stop there and have a drink some time!“

“I come here all the time! Delicious flavors of yogurt, amazing array of toppings, the new owner is very nice also. Staff is always so sweet to me when I come in, they are always in good moods which is very nice. Highly recommend this establishment!! If you want the best choice of toppings come earlier in the day. Because at the end of the day, toppings become slimmed down and sometimes some of the yogurt machines empty by then, but, after working at a few yogurt shops myself, I can say, this is normal and I totally understand!“

“Hi. Just passing through the area we decided to skip the standard expressway exit restaurants and visit the town even though it was about 5 miles away. This place stretched our comfort zone for sure. Not very big, dirty dishes filled the standard restaurant used dish receptacle and garbage for paper waste was full. I guess we forgot that cafe means you are mostly on your own. Anyway my Reuben was good and big, my wife's grilled cheese was pretty good. It was almost closing time when we entered, 1:45 so maybe that explains the piled dirty dishes and full garbage. I will say it was interesting.“

“We enjoyed eating at Los Compadres. After we ordered, our food was served very quickly. I ordered a "Burrito Special" & it was muy delicious. My husband ordered his go to favorite, a "Burrito Fajita Tejano." It's HUGE & has everything he likes inside, steak, chicken & shrimp. He only ate half, so the rest went home in a to go box.Our waitress was very sweet & she was attentive too, before anyone could ask her for something, she was already on top of it. At the end of our meals, she asked us if anyone wanted our drinks to go. How nice is that? We didn't even have to ask like we do at some of the other restaurants we've been to.Parking: We usually eat at the Los Compadres in Hildebran & this was our first time eating at the Valdese location. We came in at a little after 8 pm. As we pulled into the restaurant parking lot, we were looking for a parking spot, but there wasn't any on the right side, so we drove around the building & we couldn't find anything open. Everything was full except there were several open spots in the very front but there was a car there that was parked caddy wonkus & it looked like one of the employees was standing there talking to them. Because that car was blocking several of the open spots, we couldn't park there. I have no idea what the person in the car was doing & I'm not saying the employee was doing anything wrong. It's possible that the car was waiting for a take out order or something like that.I'm not sure if any of the spots that were blocked were marked "handicap parking,"but if they had just simply pulled into one of the spots instead of blocking all of them, we could have parked there. We drove back out onto the main road, then pulled back into the restaurant parking lot. There was a car that was leaving, so as they pulled out, we took their parking place.“
