“Visited this place today (Feb 25, 2024) for lunch. The ambiance is soothing, food is delicious and the host is courteous. Taste of the food makes you feel home ??. This is a great spot regardless you’re a vegetarian or a non vegetarian as they have plenty of options to choose from for both. Highly recommend this place if you are from/near Montclair, NJ.“

“Everything was perfect. We came in with a 7 person group and were seated immediately. We ordered the korma, Hyderabadi, paneer, and plenty of naan. Appetizers came out before entrees with time to eat and talk between.Staff were friendly and helpful, we had a birthday cake with us and they helped us serve it. Was a wonderful experience we'll certainly be back.“

“This place is a gem! We came here because our initial plan of eating at tribos periperi fell through when they were suddenly closed on Saturday (maps said it was open). I had heard of Indian inspired burgers and fried chicken before in Manhattan, so we decided to try this place out.\\n\\nThe place has 1 table by the window, then a bar with some chairs along the counter, and finally an area with several more tables.\\n\\nYou order at the counter, they'll ask your name, so I thought it was self pick-up, but in our case they brought the food to us.\\n\\nWe weren't sure what sauce to use on the chicken wings so we asked about the masala and the walla, as those two sounded the most special/distinct. They let us taste the sauces and we went with the walla, it's super good!\\n\\nThey didn't take long to prepare our lamb burger, beef burger (medium cooked ?) and our chicken wings, along with a side order of fries and a side order of sweet potato tots.\\n\\nThe burgers were delicious, juicy but not too messy, with a very nicely cooked thin patty full of flavor. The fries and tots were both incredible too, couldn't stop eating them! The tots are more interesting, but I do prefer the fries because well made fries are always the best side.\\n\\nThe chicken wings were small but packed with flavor (we also did get 7 instead of 6, probably because of the size? Or maybe they were just that nice). I only tried one because my husband is the one that loves wings the most, but I really enjoyed this one too!\\n\\nService was great! I expected it to be more self service, but they were very involved and made sure to explain what needed to be explained, and to ask about our meal.\\n\\nI'm not doing great at explaining, so I'll let the photos speak for themselves!“

“So glad that Jersey City finally has a restaurant serving Kerala food, previously we had to travel far to have authentic Kerala food. The restaurant serves great food and authentic Kerala cuisine. The ordering and collection was a breeze. We ordered Kerala fish curry, appam, kizhi parotta and chicken, it was yummy and exceeded our expectation. Will definitely order again.“

“We have eaten at Jalwa twice in recent months, and most certainly will be doing so again whenever we find ourselves in or near Montclair. Though I've never been to India, I have been a fan of Indian cuisines since I first tried them in the 1970s, and have eaten at many excellent Indian restaurants. None has pleased me more than Jalwa. The food is both traditional and creative, lovingly and carefully prepared. Portions are substantial. Spicing is happily adjusted to taste, so those like me who want their hot and spicy dishes very spicy can get it, while those who prefer less heat can get that, too. Our vegetarian daughter loves the wide selection of beautifully prepared vegetarian dishes. Naan breads and roti are outstanding. We have not tried anything that we have not loved, but among the standouts for me are the samosas -- both the traditional and the "creative" ones we've tried -- as well as the delicious fried spinach appetizer, Palak Chaat; the Dal Jalwa (a delectable house specialty lentil dish); and the Achari Chicken Tikka, which I love. Service is attentive but not intrusive, and the owner is actively involved in making sure that everything goes well. My only regret is that Jalwa does not have a branch near where we live in MA, because we'd be regulars there if they did.“

“Recently started ordering from here and have tried the tandoori chicken bowl. It’s sometimes a bit too salty but usually pretty good. My only complaint is that they charge you for sides of sauce which I am totally fine with but they barely put any sauce in the container. If you are going to charge people for sauce you should at least fill the container. They ran out of white sauce one day and instead of letting us know they just sent a different sauce (not sure what it was) and still charged for it. Not the end of the world and again I do not mind being charged extra for sauce but it would have been nice to have a heads up. Good place for a quick bite and they are open late!“

“We'd been eyeing this place for a while, but never visited until the recent holidays. We got there early on a weeknight, maybe around 6, and there was already a decent amount of tables filled - and by the time we left, it was lively. I was pleasantly surprised - this is decent Indian food for a random restaurant in a half empty strip mall in Secaucus. The portions are huge! We had a lot of leftovers. I would say that some of the dishes could use more masala and heat. For example, I probably wouldn't order a dosa from here again (the sambhar was bland), but the curry dishes and apps were good. Service wasn't anything over the top, but average for an Indian restaurant. We'll definitely be back.“

“Bombay's was pleasant, laid back and flavorful. I had the Aloo Matar and requested it spicy. The potatoes were soft, the sauce spicious and the garlic naan was the best I'd had in years. Price too was good for the amount of food. Also important was the friendly owner and staff. They took pride in what they did and I was happy to have excellent Indian food during my visit.“

“My experience at Tamarind was a very nice one. Upon arrival, a gentleman checked us in and showed us where to leave my umbrella and we were then escorted to our seats by a young lady. We were sat in a backspace, which seems like it'd be perfect for events. It was a bit noisy, there was about 23+ people in closed off space. Also there was a family next to us with 2 younger boys, one of which was watching a hockey game on his phone and was a bit rambunctious. Nonetheless, the waiter and busser were very attentive and helpful throughout the entire service. I had the Okra and my guest had the Tamarind Chicken, both were great entrees and we did get a side of rice, and naan as the portion size was a bit small for dinner. The place is beautifully decorated, great for a date night or special celebration. Definitely would recommend!“

“Good Indian food is layers of flavor- the complexity of spices and textures is vastly underrated and perfection is often harder to achieve (from what I have noticed in the US.) For me, heat is a must, but it has to be the kind that causes just a hint of sweat, and a pleasant warmth on the tongue and the back of the throat. There are so many options here, for veg, non-veg and spice level preferences - and based on what I chose, a pork vindaloo with saag over basmati, they are all going to be good. This chef is taking exceptional care to make sure the food is of a quality you won’t expect of takeout. The pork was tender, spicy but not extremely so, and perfectly seasoned; the saag, very well blended and light, I’ve never had it this way, but it was almost like a sauce/condiment here, I wish I had more to make a better assessment, but it was tasty. Rice was fluffy and warm, and the toppings- a thinly sliced cabbage slaw, and crunchy, juicy cucumbers, offered a cooling balance to the meal. I opted for Bengali pickles to carry the heat - delicious, and tamarind and cilantro chutney, which I could’ve used more of, but only to assess. This is the Indian place you should frequent if you want something truly tasty.“

“My husband and I have moved up here to Jersey from miami and are amazed at the diversity that NJ. It’s beautiful. We wanted fo try Indian food for the first time and we can honestly say we were so satisfied with the food. Delicious flavor. Veggie soup I LOVED SO MUCH! Our entrees were delicious. Customer service was on point and the sangria was to die for. Honestly the best I’ve had in NJ. It had its own unique taste to it. Will be visiting again soon.“

“The masala isn’t saucy enough with how much rice they had underneath. You had to eat a lot of plain rice if you wanted to finish all. The quinoa substitute option was good (I did half quinoa and would recommend substituting out all). The masala itself tastes good though. The mango lassi is small but very tasty! Would recommend! The naan is meh and the yogurt addition to go with it is tiny, so would not recommend them.“

“The food was suprisingly good. I was skeptical as I never tried the restaurant before. I had the fluffies filled mac and it's really good. The chicken is nice and tender. The sauce is delicious. My only complaint is maybe the sauce for the mac could be thicker but that is just personal preference.“

“I’ve recently tried this place out twice, and I’m very happy with the food. Aside from great portions, the food is very tasty. For working professionals who are not able to cook on their own, this tiffin service is amazing. $15 gets you the following: 4 Rotis, dal, Sabzi, and rice. Even though they are unable to deliver to my area, I still think that this place is definitely worth it!“

“I had never tried out this takeout setup in Belleville. You make your order online and pick it up in a locker. Lots of Uber Eats, Grubhub, and other drivers will be passing through.I was enticed by the burgers but then something compelled me to try the falafel burger. I expected a big falafel patty but instead there were about 8-10 falafels on a bun loaded with all the burger fixins. I loved it. It just hit the spot.I saw different options for sides that I thought would replace the fries, including samosas. I got both! Samosas were nothing unusual and the fries were quite nice.I ended up eating everything in my car. I do not recommend; there is a lot of sauce!I would be willing to order from here again.“
