“The restaurant was slightly off the tourist truck, but it was busy with people. The service is friendly but very slow compared to New York's ways of service. The place is simple inside, with nothing to brag about, but the food explodes with flavors. I ordered Vindaloo, which is a lamb dish, and it is so spicy and garlic naan break. The dish was delicious, and eat every bit of it. The sauce was so good i used naan to finish it off. I want to return and order more, but this time, i will ask for the authentic level of spice.“

The prices were excellent and the portions were great. I ordered Chicken Korma with Basmati rice, regular Naan bread and a Mango Lassi. The chicken was very tender, the sauce was creamy, delicious and not spicy. The Naan was good. I loved the Lassi. I had leftovers. I will definitely be returning. I am Puerto Rican and grew up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Growing up here there were no Indian restaurants. So happy to see more Indian restaurants now. I've been eating Indian food for about 20 years. To my Latinos try Indian food you might just love it. Not all dishes are Spicy. Visit this restaurant you may just love it like I did.“

We went downstairs, not knowing what to expect, but was greeted by another nice man who explained things nicely and made us feel welcome. Their smiles seemed very genuine. The space is open for being in a basement and a peaceful atmosphere for being in the heart of Brooklyn. Something unique and special about the food, that in the end really made us feel quite nice. “I had a couple slices of pepperoni pizza last month here with low expectations and was impressed. Best pizza in NYC? No but up there with the best $3 slices in NYC. The bagels are handmade here and lovely as well. But on to the star of the show: the Indian food is great. Chicken Chaat was really spicy in a nice way, a medley of great flavor with some heat. Samosas were fresh and crunchy on the outside. Lamb biryani was delightful, not too herbaceous but well balanced and nice meat chunks.I'll be back soon to try the Indian fusion pizza! Can't wait.Update: the Indian pizza is the best. Why is this not a thing yet? It will be soon. The crust could be better but the flavors on all their pizzas are phenomenal. The chefs here are creative and care about the quality they put out.I just tried their bagels again and maybe I got a fresh batch but they are so much better than I remember. Soft and chewy with perfect flavor. Not very dense but I think that's a plus. Omar's is one of my favorite places in Brooklyn. They deliver quickly and everything is great. We've ordered a dozen times from Omar's and have never been disappointed. My favorite dish is probably lamb korma. I hope they will offer a lamb korma pizza one day. I luv Omar's!“

“Simple order from possibly the best Indian restaurant in Brooklyn. Ordered chicken curry and paratha. The order arrived fresh, hot and delicious. I asked for medium spice and it was perfectly done - flavorful curry, chunks of moist, succulent chicken and the rice was studded with fresh peas, onion and spices. To the old school New Yorkers who know, let me tell you I haven't had better paratha since I was a kid in the mid 80's, eating in the restaurants along the famed Curry Row on E. 6th Street in the East Village. Mint Heights does its own delivery, so ask if they deliver to you before you waste time and money on UberEats, when you could be ordering an additional dish. “What now ranks among the greatest plates of fried fish in the city, the biyebarir fish fry, is modeled after the fish that appears in great quantities at wedding dinners in Kolkata. At Masalawala, barramundi fillets rubbed with a green pulp of cilantro and fresh chiles are suspended inside a puffy, golden husk of batter. This comes with a small dish of kasundi, a condiment that starts with freshly ground mustard. American yellow mustard has the same relationship to kasundi that a butter knife has to a chain saw.“

It was empty on a Tuesday, so we were seated right away.Very extensive menu of multiple tandoori and curry dishes. We had Lamb tandoori, Chicken Tandoori, a different chicken tandoori dish I forgot the name of, and chicken tikka.Everything was really good. Tandoori dishes were served on a sizzling platter which was fun. I truly enjoyed everything. Everyone in our party had left their plate spotless, so that speaks volumes to the quality of the food.Additionally, our server was very nice. He recommended us his favorite dishes and was attentive and kind the entire time. They even gave a complimentary rice pudding which tasted almondy and coconutty to me, it was a great dessert.Overall, I would give this place 5 stars for service and food. Every time we have to move apartments, we make it a priority to stay in the Kanan delivery zone. So far it’s stayed with us through four different apartments. I recommend chicken makhani, paneer tikka masala, saagwala paneer, chicken vindaloo, gobi manchurian, the samosas, and especially the side of aloo papri. The regular naan is good but definitely get the garlic naan if you can. The family that owns Kanan is so nice and thoughtful.
