“Our experience started off a little rocky with the server automatically bringing out bottled water instead of asking us if we wanted tap. Also, no free chips and salsa which is normally expected of a mexican restaurant. And our appetizer of chips and guac was completely underwhelming. However, our main dishes were fantastic and loaded with flavor. We ordered birria tacos, al pastor tacos, and the skirt steak. Al pastor tacos were some of the best I ever had. Overall, Agave is a nice stop for a casual dinner with yummy entrees.“

Humdoo

Humdoo Ice Cream Shop •
20 Stangl Rd, Flemington - 9.45 miles

“Nestled within the Liberty Village (closed) footprint, Humdoo Ice Cream sits humbly amongst other local businesses that share Stangl Road that parallels the Black River & Western Railroad line. We were enticed to come here through a Facebook event, and glad that we made the trip.I will be remiss if I did not mention the scenic relevance of Flemington, and the beauty of it in conjunction with this review. Aside from the railroad, Flemington appears to be a beautiful town, where agriculture and suburbia clash together to bring about a diverse display of these sub-cultures of Americana. This really set the stage for visitors coming into Flemington to Humdoo.Stangl road, itself, is set apart, almost like a secret nook. Coming off Main Street, the thoroughfare looks like it would lead to a residential area, but is in fact quite the contrary. Local businesses emerge and line either side of the road as you turn onto it, with roadside parking that you don't have to parallel park into. Humdoo Ice Cream nestles amongst these businesses that create an outdoor, walking mall of sorts.Age, amongst other factors, really make us suckers for punishment when it comes to fancying and enjoying ice cream. Perhaps it was an "one-off-day" for us, but the frozen treats at Humdoo were amazing and delicious without the complimentary side effects. The flavors of the frozen cream were just right - not too sweet, but also not too milky if that makes sense. I believe the ice cream were only available as hard ice-cream (no soft-serve) and held great together (did not melt away as quickly as other ice cream typically do; perhaps it was the season that play apart in this as well). The flavor, texture, and consistency made Humdoo's frozen delights incredibly enjoyable. There was a decent range of flavor selections which were all unique in their own way - I imagine that you cannot go wrong with any of the flavors (although I highly recommend the White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle). There is an indoor restroom within the creamery, however seating is very limited. The business does accept credit card as a form of payment. It was delightfully surprising to find a local creamery open as early as February while still being in the winter season. We are definitely going to come back for more when the weather gets warmer to give it another go!“

Lone Eagle Brewing Brewery • $
44 Stangl Rd, Flemington - 9.58 miles

“I've been coming here for a few years when we are in the area to visit family and we really like it. There's other options in the area like conclave, but Lone Eagle is dog friendly which we love. The beers are generally pretty good and the staff is always super friendly. Prices for growler fills are around $20-$22 which is pretty reasonable too. They have light snacks for sale but you can always bring food in.“

“Got a chance to stop in at Designer Dawgs in Clinton, NJ a few days ago. When checking out a new spot I usually try to order a dog “all the way” which is chili, onion, and spicy mustard. Here they call that the “Rt 31 South”. I will say right out of the gate that it was a $7.95 hot dog so I was nervous. The woman who owned the spot was very friendly and helpful. This was a naturally cased dog that she pulled from the water and tossed onto the flattop to finish. I enjoyed the flavor and snap from the dog. This was a big one, it came on a small hoagie roll instead of a hot dog bun and with the chili it filled it out. I’d guess a plain dog here would be small in that roll. The chili had good flavor and consistency but was different than what I’m used to, it had a zing to it…maybe some vinegar, I couldn’t tell. I enjoyed it though. The dog was served with popcorn and it was in a dog bowl so I thought that was cool. There was no indoor seating but there was a nice little courtyard out back where I ate. Fun decorations and trinkets inside. For this dog and a can of soda it was $9 and change. I felt like it was a bit steep, but I didn’t leave feeling upset about the purchase. Designer Dawgs - Didn’t Suck! For the video on this spot as well as content from well over 500 other places, please check my social pages here - https://linktr.ee/Didnt_Suck“

“Amazing vegan food. The Setanta used for steak is shaved thin and marinaded in secret home marinade. The bawl I had ( Seitan Lovers Bowl) was tasty and well balanced. The Aioli complimented it well. I wanted more when I finished my bowl. The sandwiches are offered on chiabata bread. The cheese stake was sublime, but prepare for a sloppy meal. Everything was supper fresh. The owner was very friendly and informative. You could truly say they prepare and serve each meal with love! Tge outdoor seating is perfect for a nice springy day. The indoors sitting area is small, but there are a few tables there. Pleasant atmosphere with subdued music in background.“

Polar Cub Ice Cream Ice Cream Shop • $
380 US-22, Whitehouse Station - 4.6 miles

“How have I never reviewed a place that I have been going to for YEARS?! Honestly the best ice cream around. I know many have their own opinions on other places within a good radius of Polar Cub, but nothing has ever topped them and I have been to them all! Good price, good portion sizes. I even used to get extras for the dogs (when I had dogs). Nice little seating area as well. My preference here is definitely a good strawberry sundae with Soft Vanilla Ice Cream. Not sure what they do with that, but it tastes amazing. The only downsides I can think of are the parking situation. If it's a busy day, expect to park on the side of Rt. 22. Also, it's cash only.. so be ready with cash on hand! Othe than that, it's a perfect little place!“

READINGTON BREWERY Brewery • $
937 US-202 S, Neshanic Station - 8.07 miles

“Have been here a few times, most recently for a large group gathering & their Oktoberfest. They have some unique beers and even a hard kombucha-tea. When the weather is warm, their outdoor area is huge and a great spot to hang out. The inside can get packed quick during prime times. The brewery does a lot within the community.“
