Honduran Restaurants near West New York, NJ

El Chalateco Salvadoran • $
6711 Bergenline Ave, West New York

“The food is very good and affordable, unfortunately the staff is quite horrible. Mostly all the time they have bad faces as if one were going to ask, at least I have always been friendly even if they make bad faces at me. Their food is good, there is no denying it. It would be good if they changed their attitude towards the clients, at least the ones we spoke well to...“

“Finding a quick lunch spot on a rainy day can be quite a challenge, given the abundance of choices in the area. However, despite my initial hesitation, choosing this particular place turned out to be the best decision. From the moment we stepped inside until the moment we left, it was evident that the family who owned this small business put in a tremendous amount of hard work. This hidden gem is an absolute must-try for everyone. It was a pleasure interacting with the daughter, son, and the mom, who served as both the owner and cook.Being a foodie and chef myself, I couldn't resist approaching the owner and asking her to surprise me with her recommendations. She delighted me with two delicious pupusas, a mouthwatering breakfast burrito, and a delectable baleada. These choices were absolutely fantastic. On my next visit, I am definitely going to try the beef soup and the Cuban, which unfortunately were sold out this time. It's no surprise that everyone was craving soup on such a rainy day. And let's not forget about the addictive passion fruit or mango smoothie!Overall, this place exceeded my expectations and left me craving for more. It's a true gem that deserves all the recognition it can get.“

“El Progreso is a cozy little restaurant, focused on typical Central American food and with very good service. I like to go, at least once a week, to share with my family the delicious tamales, baleadas, pupusas and tacos, accompanied by a delicious beet spice that they serve to their special clients. Tamarind and orchata waters are our favorites. Solidarity prices!“

Carne Asada Con Tajadas

“This is a place that we have go to once a year due to it being hard to get to. But it has such amazing Hondurian food. It is hard to find food from my home country but this is one of those places that makes the journey worth it. During the Christmas time they have a time when you can order authentic hondurian tamales for Christmas. These tamales are very juicy tasty and filling. They cost $4 each and are worth getting due to the size. We always get at least 20 tamales for the Christmas season and the owner is happy to do our order. She is very friendly and has know us for many years even if we knly see her once a year. This time we sat down to order some food. I got a classic Pollo Chuco (Dirty Chicken) which is fried plantains, fried chicken, cabbage or cold slaw, a ketchup mayo combo sauce drizzled on top with pickled onions (which i asked without since i dont enjoy onions). The chicken was seasoned perfectly and the plantains were crispy and salty. I have to get this item again as it is delicious. The place was clean and empty as we went early. A little cramped but not bad.“

It comes with refried beans, cream, scrambled eggs, steak, and avocado. Super tasty and we'll cooked ? i recommend you give it a shoot.Make sure you bring cash with you by the way.
