“Phenomenal experience, the food was really amazing and great portion sizes. We had the rib eye and the special which was swordfish. Everything was cooked perfectly, flavours were great, cocktails were creative and delicious, server was attentive but not over bearing. Atmosphere got pretty loud in there with a full house, but that's the only complaint!“

“I’m off to Italy next month, so while on an educational in Halifax my coworker told me how this is one of her favourite spots!I definitely see why! The atmosphere was wonderful, and even though someone decided to cause a drunken scene, the staff dealt with the situation in a very calm manner. We had starters and mains but there was so much food, we were unable to try desert. Next time!My coworker was even able to customize her tortellini dish as it was a favourite of hers no longer on the menu. I actually wished I had gotten the same hers was that good! This place really has made me more excited for my trip to Italy!Highly recommend“

“My partner recently took me to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday and let me just say.. they DID NOT disappoint. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the staff and our waiter, Oscar. Oscar was friendly and very professional. He did a phenomenal job explaining each item on the menu and making suggestions. It was clear that Oscar is a foodie and passionate about food and the pairings. He made it his mission to ensure we had an amazing dinner. He was meticulous in pairing our meals with the perfect wine and even took the time to explain why he recommended each dish or wine pairing. He asked the right questions to make the perfect recommendations and he was warm and welcoming the entire night. We were even wowed to find out that not only was he our waiter, but he also doubled as the bartender making the most amazing, delicious and refreshing cocktails. If I had a business of my own, Gios would be in a tough spot because I would hired Oscar in the spot lol.The food was amazing. Literally everything we had was 10/10. The appetizers were delicious.. to the point that some dishes like the snapper left us eager for more! We ordered almost a little of everything but my favorites were the parpadelle pasta, the wild boar and red fish. I absolutely loved the flavors in the pasta and the pesto was amazing. The boar was perfectly cooked and the portion was perfect and quite filling. The fish was well seasoned and absolutely delicious. I will absolutely be back to Gio because I have that burger on my mind and I’m yearning for more.Thank you for an amazing dinner & special thanks to Oscar for being the most amazing waiter I have ever experienced. It’s clear you are passionate, love food and take the time to learn and understand the menu in depth. The restaurant is absolutely lucky to have you on their team!!!“
“This is my favorite place in the city, my crippling pinball addiction may have something to do with this. They also have very tasty beverages on hand, super helpful and pleasant staff. Their pins are meticulously maintained along with the contemporary and classic arcade games they keep. Sunday and Tuesday are free play days at $10 flat. Awesome deal. Spend your time and money here.“

“Always a great time at Westcliff. Food is delicious traditional diner food at a very reasonable price in a traditional diner atmosphere, which is next to impossible to find these days. The banter between the owners is quite entertaining and they are always welcoming and friendly.Love to support this locally owned longtime Halifax staple.A few things to know when you go;1) When you enter grab menus for your table as well as paper and pencil to write your tables order (all orders for one table on the same paper please). Be sure to include any drinks (including water), side choices and sauces on the paper.2) When youve finished writing your order down, take it to the counter and give it to one of the owners. They will make your meal and bring it to your table.3) When you are finished you bus (clean) your own table off and bring the dishes and garbage to the bins provided.4) You then go to the cash to pay (you dont pay at the table)As someone with anxiety this was a bit overwhelming at first but now its become a unique dining experience that our family and friends enjoy. Honestly if other places lowered there prices and asked this of their customers Id be all for it. Small amount of effort to save a good chunk of change.“

“Absolutely love this restaurant in the heart of Halifax!Stopped in for a quick breakfast before catching our flight in August 2023.Service was on point, and the breakfast and lunch options were exactly what we were looking for!We opted for the western hash and a pulled pork sandwich. Both were bomb! The ham and potatoes in the hash were unique and flavourful and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The pulled pork Sammy was tangy and delicious with a healthy portion of pulled pork. One of the best breakfast experiences I've had.Well done team!“

“Being from Montréal, I love a good poutine. You won't be disappointed here! Real cheese curds (grated cheese is NOT poutine), they don't skimp on the sauce, the fries are like Restaurant Lafleur and the best part is they put it in a metal bowl. Stays HOT. Great service, too.“

“The Brooklyn Warehouse is a West End staple and at the heart of the food scene in Halifax. The staff are always fantastic at recommending options and pairing, the food is fantastic, and the atmosphere is relaxed and cared for. If you are looking for a great spot to catch up with friends over a drink and appetizers or a fantastic date night, the Brooklyn Warehouse has to be on the top of your list!“

“Met up with a large group of friends at the last minute on a Saturday night. They were able to accommodate us, albeit for a limited time, as they were expecting another large group. Had the lamb burger. It was very good. Great service, and the place has a lot of character.“

“Ordered the butternut squash gnocchi and it was delicious! The portions are smaller for the price/cost but for what youre getting is a thoughtful take which reminded me of an italian dish, asian fusion flavours kick. Which i have not had a lot of until now. The gnocchi with the almost curry-like creamy sweet savoury sauce with the butternut squash gnocci paired so well with the stracciatella cheese with Seasame seeds. The harmony of the two was well composed. I also heard great things about the baos, trout and beef tar tar (also having a nice asian touch to it). What was more impressive was the kitchen/cooks were cooking for everyone in a very small section in the front beside the bar, using a electric stove top to prepare the food they did. As a cook myself, i really find this impressive for the quality and quantity they are serving at. Of course, keep in mind the food from kitchen to table, but trust me it’s worth the wait!Would definitely come back, but next time would love a seat by the kitchen/bar area to observe cooking processes.Compliments to the chefs ?“

“We had to rush and our server and restaurant were very accommodating. Our food came out at record pace once we notified them that we had to catch rebooked flight. It was too bad we couldn’t enjoy the wonderfully prepared meal at a more reasonable pace, but we will return in the future if we’re in Halifax again.“

“Stopped in while on an evening walk along the waterfront. Enjoyed ice cream in a waffle cone. Ice cream was good, but the waffle cone really elevated the entire taste. I’ve since been back twice and noticed that the ice cream flavors are not always available. Staff working the counter are friendly and offer generous scoops.“

“I absolutely love the Moxie's in Bayers Lake. The food is always spectacular and their service is top notch.I recently had to go gluten free for medical reasons and the restaurant took that very seriously. The server was very knowledgeable and able to list off options for me on the menu and the manager came over to confirm my allergies and make sure they were communicated with their chef. The chef was able to make adjustments to my meal so I was still able to enjoy dining out.Absolutely amazing experience and very well run restaurant. I felt very safe eating here with my medical requirements.“

“First off, the appetizers are to die for. Me and my buddies got ribs and chicken tenders for the main and let me say.. By far the best chicken tenders I have ever had. Jenn was the best server I have ever met, she always brought me more lemonade when she knew I was getting low. So thoughtful, will be here again.“

“From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, the vibrant energy was palpable. Surrounded by eye-catching murals and a playful neon sign proclaiming “Drink More Apples,” the atmosphere was whimsically inviting, hinting at a menu with flair and creativity.Settling in, the dish that first graced the table was a colorful rendition of what seemed like an Asian-inspired fried rice. Topped with a duo of golden-brown fried chicken pieces, it was a dance of textures and flavors. The chicken was crisp on the outside, tender within, and each bite of the rice was a delightful mélange of savory spices and crisp veggies.Next came a plate that reimagined the classic fish and chips. Instead of the usual suspects, sweet potato fries accompanied the fish, their caramelized edges whispering tales of the grill they’d danced on. The fish, encased in a light, airy batter, broke away in succulent flakes—a testament to its freshness. A slice of lemon and a kiwi garnish were the perfect tangy sidekicks to this hearty main.Service throughout the meal was unobtrusive yet attentive, enhancing the casual, laid-back vibe of the place. This wasn’t just a meal; it was a gastronomic journey through familiar comforts presented with an unexpected twist. I left satisfied, already reminiscing about the flavors that had just waltzed across my palate.“

“When we first moved into the neighbourhood, I admit I wasn’t super excited by what seemed to be a sports bar. But it was open when we were hungry, so off we went. And we were pleasantly surprised! The decor inside does lean a little sporty and I’ve never been there in the middle of a popular sportsball game, but it’s otherwise just a normal restaurant. The food is really good and consistent, the prices are reasonable (especially during happy hour and Wednesday wings night) and the service is always spot on. They do a great burger, Caesar salad, wings, pan fried haddock, etc. It’s now one of our regular spots in the neighbourhood and the usual answer to, “Ugh I don’t feel like cooking tonight. Where should we go to eat?”“
“Had such a wonderful experience with Grand Finales! The portions were very generous, the bread was fresh, great selection, and incredibly kind and friendly service. They made it so easy for me to change my order on short notice, and delivered it right on time. Can’t recommend them enough and can’t wait to order again!“

“We started off by asking for a mocktail. The server made us her special mix which had a tropical/peachy taste. Personally not a fan of mocktails, but I would order this one again from how good it was.We got a Schezwan Chicken Katsu for appetizer. It was phenomenal. Surprised it's an appetizer and not a main dish. Would give that an honest 10/10. Star of the night 100%For the mains we ordered donair gnocchi and the burger with fries. For the donair gnocchi, it was very flavourful. The sauce wasn't too sweet which we really loved. The gnocchi was very soft and fresh. The burger was worth the price for sure. I feel like the caramelized onions with the mayo i added for a personal preference made a great pair in the sandwich. I asked for the same mayo they put in our Chicken Katsu appetizer. (Yes it was that good)We ended it off with a brownie. It had a dark chocolate flavour and was rich. The raspberries on top were not overpowering it, I personally don't prefer fruits with my chocolate but i surprisingly liked this pair.In general the food was an easy 10/10.Service was outstanding (sorry I don't remember her name, but she was great and understood how we wanted our food and drinks made). 10/10Bathroom was clean and tidy which is always a good thing to see. Well done and definitely coming back again for the Chicken Katsu!“

“The food was excellent. I really enjoyed the pan fried haddock and everything else was delicious as well. Our server, Amanda, was a total treat. Friendly and personable from the second we walked in, she was a ray of sunshine. The entire staff went out of their way to come up with adventures we could take for the remainder of our trip. Dartmouth will now be remembered fondly by us three ol' girls and hopefully we'll get to visit again. Highly recommend.“
“Dining at the Hop Scotch Dinner Club, I was blown away by one dish in particular. The scallops were just divine, seared to a perfect crisp on the outside while remaining incredibly tender and juicy on the inside. It's rare to find that balance executed so flawlessly. Then there was the 'nduja sauce and red lentils – oh, what a pairing! The sauce added just the right kick, and the lentils brought a comforting earthiness that grounded the dish. And those fermented carrots? Their sharpness and the skill in their preparation were nothing short of impressive. The dish was also a treat for the eyes, adorned with calendula petals and a drizzle of their oil, adding a splash of color and a hint of elegance. It was an unforgettable experience, a beautiful blend of flavors, textures, and visual appeal, all thanks to the creativity and skill of the chefs at Hop Scotch Dinner Club.“

“Wow. I don’t know how I overlooked this iconic spot to grab poutine. After the QOTSA concert I had grabbed a beer around the corner then wanted to soak up that alcohol with a Canadian staple. And man I was not disappointed. This lovely little spot where you order from the street at a window was exactly what I needed. Super friendly staff that easily handled the drunkards that were infront of me.As for the poutine. Amazing. Crispy fries, great gravy and nice curds. Can’t go wrong here!“

“Minor point, if you saying you are at least A 4 star restaurant, with pricing to reflect that rating. Need to upscale you napkins, brown light weight paper napkins don't cut it! Also, your hostesses need to be aware, letting people cut in , how don't have a reservation, in front of those that where there before them, who had reservations, isn't appropriate.“
