“Holy smokes. Where do I start? Thanks to the entire Canteen family - and I say FAMILY purposefully as you feel the family atmosphere as soon as you arrive - for hosting our team for dinner last week. We booked out the whole restaurant and they did just what we hoped for: Maritime hospitality, wonderful, genuine service and knock-your-socks off food. The team from across Canada went bananas over the Crobster sandwich. The special welcome from the owners was a lovely touch. The guests raved all the way back across the harbour on the ferry about the wonderful meal from start to finish. It’s a lovely space that is not pretentious and puts an emphasis on fantastic food and exemplary service, with a genuine smile. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

Having the chef come out with the waiter to explain what was in each dish / course was also fun. They took extra care because of allergies too! And of course get a fancy cocktail, you won’t regret it 😉”

“Well worth a trip across the bridge! I rarely go to Dartmouth, but had an appointment this aft. Walking back to my car, I noticed this cute spot, Portland Street Creperie and decided to check it out. So glad I did! I’ll definitely be back. The owner and his staff member of many years greeted me with a warm welcome and good suggestions. It was a bonus to discover Neil shares a love of Kraftwerk! I’m so jealous that he will be seeing them for the third time 🤦‍♀️. Oh, and the crepes - fabulous! Definitely recommended!”

“Three moms and FIVE 3 and 4 years old took on Jack Astor’s and our server, Tiana was absolutely up for the task! She got giggles from the grumpiest of toddlers, kept drinks filled and ketchup cups were delivered on demand (which was a lot). Easy to talk to, a kind smile, knowledgeable about the menu and very helpful - she made our meal smoother than we ever anticipated! Everyone’s food was excellent! Thanks again Tiana!”

“Great experience here! Our server was fantastic (we didn’t get his name ~ slim, no hair). We had the Millstone Burger, Candied Bacon Burger, and a Club…the food was excellent. Loved having a combo of fries and salad to go with it. The fries deserve a shoutout of their own.. so good! Great casual atmosphere ~ we’ll definitely be back!”

“I just had to best experience with Evan’s and more specifically Manish. I ordered a large amount of take out chowder that was being transported quite a distance away. Manish was amazing. He had everything packed so well for us. He took time to write down instructions for me and explain them for me. I was blown away at how great the customer service was. The chowder was also delicious and everyone loved it. It was a very positive experience. I appreciate Manish so much for going the extra mile for us so it worked out wonderfully. Thank you so much!”

The wife made me haul a camper off of the highway, downtown to stop by - (I only agreed because it was Moxies) Service was a 10 star – food was a 10 star – drinks were a 10 star – this is probably the most consistent chain restaurant I have ever visited. I always review each experience because with most any restaurant, whether it be Moxies or any restaurant – each experience changes but with Moxies, it is consistent.”

“Sushi is cheaper here. My favourite is dynamite rolls. Sobeys sushi is literally the only place to get sushi within 10 min of my house. Don’t expect lots of options. They have California rolls and if that’s the only thing you like this place is perfect for you.”

“I've had good egg foo young, but this is by far the best I've ever had. the tempura shrimp was crispy and lightly coated. I enjoy broccoli with beef and this did not disappoint. My only complaint is I live too far away to come back any time soon but will surely miss the owners and the food... I highly recommend!”

“Really great employee’s came here on August 11th at 10 pm and accidentally forgot to add cheese to my order. The cashier and other employees did not make me feel like an idiot at all for interrupting their work flow and needing to fix my already made order 😓. Would absolutely choose this as my main spot opposed to any other Dartmouth don’s.

“I don’t do reviews much but Sushi101 was incredibly delicious with an artistic flair that just added to the experience! We actually had to admire the artistry before diving into the various sushi roll plates. I am not one to take pictures of my food but the presentation of the various plates made me give-in and I did take my phone out for a few candid shots. I know it’s rude on date night to have a phone out but it really was that incredible!! Service was wonderful and a little wait is necessary when the food is coming out that fresh and beautiful. They were busy with eat in and take out; word must be getting out!! Well done chef and team at Sushi101!!”

“Ordered the lemon blueberry cake for a birthday. If you are not fussy on a cake being too sweet this one is perfect. Has very little frosting and it was so moist and delicious. Would definetely order again.”

We thought it was a little strange that the shrimp dip had full-size shrimp, and only three of them in it, would probably be better if they chopped up the shrimp throughout the dip, but otherwise everything was great!”

“North is one of our favorite local spots. They host fun events (the drag shows are wild and I love to see that type of support in our community). We love the atmosphere, food is great, staff is always lovely and the beer is always good - in fact, their sours are beyond the best around and I really hope they start brewing them again. I was definitely a bit disappointed that they haven't offered one recently so.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back your sours! I also think their merchandise offered is more stylish then a lot of other similar places. It has a unique surf/beachy vibe that I hope they continue. What's even better is that they offer a 15% discount you can use on merch, if you show your receipt after dining in their taproom! Keep up the great work!”

There was not one negative thing I could say or anything I would change. Very likely the best service and best food I have EVER had.”

“Finally had the chance to try Maria’s. Fresh pasta (Mafaldini) had never seen this shape before, 1/4”wide or so, looked like a lasagna noodle),Rosa Sauce and the best Lemoncello cake ever! Made chicken parm with the sauce and noodles and it was excellent. I can see this being a regular stop for take home ingredients. Also want to try the Porchetta sandwich so next Friday it’s marked on the calendar!”

I got a small donair pizza (no tomato) and he, a donair and fries. The food was so good, blew me away! (I really should have gotten the large donair sauce!) Lots of meat on the donair pizza and the onions were sliced thin and not overpowering. His donair looked delicious and he very much enjoyed it. The fries were not your typical frozen bagged fries and tasted like actual fried potatoes. I will definitely be coming back here to try more of the menu!”

I was traveling through the area looking for a late dinner, and I’m so glad this spot was open. The pizza had amazing flavor, and the medium size was more than enough for dinner and lunch the next day. The staff was welcoming and even laughed along when I admitted I’m not a fan of tomatoes 😊. Parking is available nearby, though space is limited, so plan ahead. If you’re passing through Dartmouth or Halifax, definitely put this place on your list!”

“It's been years since I've visited the Woodside Tavern. The ownership has changed and the place has been renovated. It's more open and inviting now. The menu impressed us; the choices are varied and the taste of the dishes was very flavorful. Our server, Sujana, was quick to provide menus, take our order, served us beverages, then went into the kitchen to cook our meal, and then served us! She can do it all! It was a very enjoyable visit. We'll definately return!”

“My sister took me out and I loved it. I’ve also done Harvey’s too as in New Glasgow we have no Harvey’s. Server was cavelle. So reliable and polite and caring to our needs. It was not too crowded or noisy. I loved the fact that you can order from both menus. As some are not beef eaters. Very convenient. I’m glad I got a chance to go there. Actually we went there twice . One to one side and one to other side of establishment. I wish there were more locations.”
