“Perfect place for an anniversary! The staff was very nice. And kudos to Marchia S! She was the nicest staff we've met here. There were a lot of fries and tenders ? and they had more. By the time we finished. We got our cake! Excellent place.Kid-friendliness: Had an appetizer for us! Very nice. And like I said before. A lot. Of food.“
“Really great food!! Ok so first of all, those CODFISH FRITTERS?! An IMMEDIATE favorite! I could've eaten just those and been so satisfied. Also, the hot pepper shrimp were so good! I also recommend getting jerk pork spare ribs and can't forget the rice and peas. I always have to try the mac and cheese anywhere I go and it did not disappoint!! And their RUM PUNCH WAS SOOOOO GOOD!! Also, one of my friends had the classic Jamaican oxtail stew and said they LOVED IT! They had great music playing and even though it was kinda small, they make a HUGE impact. Staff was really cool as well!“
“Fantastic food with very great price. I was so impressed by the oxtail I had. It was so big volume with absolutely great stewed oxtail. my girlfriend usually can not eat too much, but she finished her super full box of food. People in the store was sooo sweet, give us so many instructions for food with smiling. Hope everyone can come to try this fantastic Jamaican food“
“My opinion is 8.7/10. Is it the best Jamaican beef patty I've ever had? No but overall our place that makes handmade Jamaican beef patties with a good overall flavor I recommend it. Best thing definitely has to be the crust I just wish for $3 it was a little bit more meat / seasoning. Check out my in depth video reviews on any of the platforms below. “I had the best stew peas I have ever had in my life! I have to go back and get my mom some.I had the pepper shrimp, it was extremely hot and flavorful. I had to immediately pull out my asthma pump. My chest was already tight, but as soon as I tasted the shrimp my chest closed up. I thought I was going to have to call the ambulance. It was scary!!!I will not put this on the restaurant. I have been eating seafood for 50 years and think I have recently developed a seafood allergy.“
“I grew up eating Jamaican food and this is hands down the best Jamaican restaurant that I’ve been to in Brooklyn! The food is consistently delicious and made to order — no food sitting out on a heater waiting for someone to order. I’ve had the jerk shrimp, curry shrimp roti, jerk salmon, and other items and the food is always fresh, tasty, and plentiful. They sell juices and cake which are also amazing. I’ve been going here once a week since the pandemic started and I’m always so excited to get my food. The owner is amazing and is dedicated to always providing five star service and food.“
“This restaurant is popping with their stew peas and rice.. when in the Bronx I stop by and pick up a plate.. it’s very good and Munchie is very personable and offer good service.. I just love their stew peas which was referred to me by a friend years ago??❤️“
“Returned for take out and even better than I remembered. Moist jerk chicken with wonderful 'hotter' sauce. Good portion with rice and beans and steamed veggie. I must return to try the curried goat etc. (There are some tables but I suspect most of the biz is take out).“
“The best food of any kind . The owners, and staff are the greatest. Safe, Clean well respected restaurant in Mt.vernon, NY. I E.A.T.S., almost everyday. Lol.. A vast variety of delicious foods and desserts too. So my recommendation.. is too E.A.T.S... One love✊?“
“This place had some of the best jerk chicken I ever had in my life. I've gone back 3x times in the past month and they are not there anymore. Does anyone have an updated location for this jerk pit?Because now I'm sad...sad spelled backwards is das and das not good :/“
“Shout out to the owner! I used the 'to good to go' app to order from their store and it was cancelled by the owner and I didn't get notified in time so I went anyway. They ended up not only refunded me but giving the food for free. Not only was he considerate but the food is great!Jerk chicken could be a little spicier but the seasoning is good and he added gravy so it wasn't dry. PLUS he gave me festival, which was delicious. Thanks man ?Actually rating is a 4.5 ✌️“
“Great place for brunch in LIC and glad I made a resv. Place was really busy but it didn't look like people were waiting long. The service was great considering how busy it was. Food came out quickly, hot and fresh. BBQ Pork hash was sweet and good. Brunch burger was good, not great. Mac and cheese was great as was the eggs bene. Very active and noisy, but in a good way. Def a local gem.“
“A very special place of warmth and true Jamaican hospitality in NYC. I have hosted several events here (3 cooking classes for students and a special pre-wedding fun "game night" party) and everyone loves generous-hearted Chef Mom, the delicious food she prepares and the wide open welcoming space. What a treat to have this gem in the middle of the city.“
“I come here all the time. The food is delicious. The staff are very friendly and welcoming I never had any problems with them unlike some other places. Highly recommend! Try the ackee and salt fish or the corn beef and cabbage and thank me later ? The sweet chilli wings slap “
“I was in the area. I googled this place and I wanted to give it a try. I was very impressed with the rice and peas and shrimp which had some heat to it. Not overbearing and very enjoyable mixing it with the rice. The lady who served me was very nice and I appreciated my meal I will comeback again.“
“Got some patties and they were delicious, but the standout part of the experience was the kindness I received from the cashier/POS staff!!! It was a lovely reminder how kindness and empathy trumps any other superficial experience. Made the food even more enjoyable! Thank you!“
“I think Mya's Bar & Kitchen is an underrated spot. The food and service have not disappointed me yet and the space is an overall vibe. I've gone here several times and whether it's the honey shrimp, oxtail tacos, mac and cheese as well as sorrel drinks...Mya's Bar & Kitchen brings me joy. It's a well needed spot to the neighborhood and I hope more people come out to support this place. I don't want to see it go.“
“I usually get jerk chicken there and patties. These are the ones I like to buy there. The other food are good too but, I have my preferences. Just jerk chicken, not the meal . Long time ago, I used to buy fish there but,it became too hot/ spicy for me to digest.“
“Anas has great customer service the food was prepared quickly. He even gave me a small sample off a few items on the menu to help make a decision on what I wanted. That alone satisfied me as a customer and would recommend him if your in the area. Food gets a 8/10“
“I’m from VA and I was at my brothers home for Thanksgiving in Jamaica Queens. The day of me leaving to go back home I wanted some authentic Jamaican food. Here it was!! The food is amazing, service is great. It’s very clean. I got the Oxtail with rice and all I can say WOW!! While I was there I asked the staff member ackee and of course she had it with fried dumplings. That was amazing ?! This will be ato go place for me every time I visit my brother. Thank you for your great hospitality. God bless you.“
“The only reason I give it 5 STAR b/c of The food is so amazing that I come all the way from Brooklyn at least couple days out the month!!!! As for the the staff some are unfriendly n bad attitude but that don’t stop me from coming back…KUDOS to the CHEF??“
“Don’t let the long line turn you away, this place is the real deal, they do the hustle and the line moves very quickly. The food is authentic and out of this world delicious. I’ll be smiling for days knowing you’re right across the street from where we are staying. Jamrock Jerk: Thanks for giving this island gyull a taste of home. You guys and gals rock! OneLove.“
“Glad I fought this gem, food was delicious! We got the curry goat with rice and peas, veggies and sweet plantains, a small porridge, side of mac and cheese and a piece of red velvet cake. Everything was super good, the ladies were very nice. The restaurant is clean with NO funny smells. Cant wait to go back and taste the rest of the menu.“
“I’m very new to Caribbean food so take my 5 stars with a grain of salt but it was incredibly delicious J*** Chicken with plenty of seasonings and very tender, rice and peas which were very good, and mac and cheese. There were really generous portions and the staff was very kind.“
“While searching for something different for dinner, came across D'Bay and realized that Jerk Chicken would really hit the spot. The reviews were good but had some questions about sides etc so I called the restaurant. The gentleman who picked up answered my questions and I really enjoyed talking with him. He told me what he had available (plenty of Jerk Chicken and Jerk Pork, almost out of curry goat, enough for a small serving) and I placed my order with him. I drove over with my daughter, found there were two municipal lots on either end of the block he was on, so parking was easy. Ended up getting a large Jerk Chicken and a large Jerk Pork, both with rice n peas and mixed veg/cabbage and a small curry goat, with rice n peas and mix veg/cabbage. All the dishes also came with plantain. We also got a homemade sorrel juice, a homemade peach mango juice and two muffins (banana and carrot). The food was waiting there for us and the owner (the guy I spoke to on the phone) provided great customer service with a smile. I paid with cash ($58 for everything) and told him we would see him soon. The food was really tasty, with the large orders having enough for two meals. The banana muffin was good but the carrot muffin was really amazing. Overall a very good experience and we will definitely be back there again for more very tasty food. The two pics are Jerk Chicken and Jerk Pork. We started eating before I could remember to take pics, so note that the dishes do come with more food in them. Sorry I could not post the curry goat but my daughter finished it off before I could get a picture.“
“I was renting an Aitrbnb near this place and was a regular customer throughout those 3 weeks. It was by far the best food I had during that time. Mostly had jerk chicken, which was great. I could not finish a medium portion in one sitting, unless I was absolutely starving. Worth the price - I paid for a mediocre sandwich elsewhere more than for a delicious portion of jerk chicken here. My only complain is that the music was sometimes so loud that I could not hear the person who served me well. Probably wouldn't bother a local as much, but as I foreigner, I had no idea what they could be asking me. So the first time, I accidentally ordered pasta salad. However, it was really good too, so I wasn't upset.“
“The food was fantastic. Loved the vibes too. The music was on point. I felt like I was back home in Jamaica. I can’t wait to come back for more. I definitely encourage anyone who lives here in NY or visiting to check out this restaurant. Big Tings a gwaan.“
“Tasted the jerk pork and jerk chicken including the wings, the macaroni and cheese, Rasta pasta, potato salad, macaroni salad and oxtails all in one sit down and everything was absolutely amazing. My meal was only $39 including a sorrel and I would definitely be visiting again.“
“The food is great. It's always crowded and long checkout line. Weekends are lunch hours are worst. Atmosphere is not the best very mama and papa type Atmosphere. Service is decentVegetarian options: They are a few vegetables options, there is always 3/4 type of veggies options on the menu“
“was around the area and tried this and fell in love .i recommend the jerk chicken and Mac and cheese . They also have a lot of different drinks .only bad thing is bad parking it’s in a busy area .Food - I gave it 4 stars because the first time I went it was perfect but I went again today and the plantains were very dry and hard .Service - nice peopleAtmosphere - they play music videos on a tv it’s calm .“
“I enjoy driving long distances to try new food places specially family owned and I'm so glad I came across this hidden gem. I've been trying to find a good Jamaican food spot and I believe I finally found it. The quality of food was really good, fresh and delicious. The Mango Carrot juice I tried is so refreshing and reminds me of my childhood. The woman upfront was super helpful and explained everything that was available. The place is small but those are the best places, it's nice to get your food and take it to go. I will be coming back, Thanks!“
“Customer Service was great. I was in desperate need of some fried plantain (lol) and stoped here. When I got inside they said none was prepared. I explained how I didn’t want anything else that morning besides that. The lady in the front asked the Chef if he had any, he checked and they did. The chef made the plantain and it was done in no time. Im so appreciative because for them It was not about a customer only potentially spending a dollar on an order of plantain. They took the time to make someone’s day better with what ever inconveniences they might have had. Most restaurants would have said they don’t have it and wouldn’t even attempt to make more even if they could. Thank you guys and I will definitely be coming back to try things on the menu. I also ordered fried dumpling 10/10 and the plantain was perfect too lol.Declaimer: They were slow so if they can’t do it for you don’t be mad.“
“Stopped in here 2 days in a row. I'm a contractor doing a job in the area. Day one I had curry goat and rice and peas it was absolutely phenomenal. Day 2 I had j*** chicken with rice and peas and it was delicious. I will definitely go out of my way to get food from here it's delicious and authentic.“
“The restaurant is very spacious so there is usually a spot available if you want to eat in. The food here is unmatched! I’ve eaten at their Brooklyn location as well and they did not disappoint. The oxtail. The patties. The jerk chicken are all ????????“
“This is a business we have been patronizing for years as born West Indian restaurant. Finding a authentic West Indian restaurant is difficult over the last few years. The price has increased over the years but the cuisine is constant and delicious. We love the whole fish, soup, the rice and peas, rainbow cake, if you’re in the mood for a cocktail the bartenders are very excellent. Historically we would have the jerk chicken pork but we no longer eat chicken or pork but if you are in love her of that chicken and pork is delicious. If you’re in Jamaica Queens, are you just in the mood for some of them to Jamaican food the door is the best spot for brown stew fish, excovitch fish.“
“Alright, listen up folks! If you find yourself wandering around Bedstuy craving some seriously good Jamaican food, you gotta hit up Taylor Made. I'm talking about food that'll make your taste buds do the happy dance!Every dish they whip up deserves a standing ovation. I'm telling you, the food is authentic. And the service? It's like hanging out with your coolest Jamaican cousins. They're friendly, they're quick, and they make you feel right at home. So, next time you're in the neighborhood and need a fix of top-tier Jamaican food, swing by Taylor Made.“
“I'm always trying to find some hidden gem jamaica food spots in Brooklyn each time I visit and came across this restaurant. I took one look at the pics on google maps and I could tell it was authentic Jamaican food( if you're are Jamaican you know what I'm talking about). I most definitely wasn't disappointed, we certainly enjoyed the food. The Curry goat was tender, flavorful and well seasoned, the fried chicken slightly dry but still good though. Rice n peas was shelly and moist, which is a must. Also, they are very affordable and you'll get your money's worth. You can't beat the portion size for the price.“
“We went here for my birthday February 2020!!! The food, drinks and staff were AMAZING!!! I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant and can’t wait to go back! The oxtail, rice and peas, Mac and cheese...even the side salad and plaintains were PERFECTION. The customer service made us feel like we were at a resort restaurant in Jamaica, they made us feel like royalty.“
“This is a great place to eat. Vendors are friendly and food is really good. The j*** chicken was my favorite (really hot, yes!) and the rice is soft, well cooked. They also have a variety of salad mix. The potato salad was really good. I'm not a fish eater but even the seafood smell good. Price is reasonable, I think it's 9$ a pound but less money if the weight is less. It's definitely worth it.Vegetarian options: They have a variety of mixes for salad.“
“I ordered off Uber eats and was very surprised by how nice the portion was especially for the price. The food was delicious. I got the jerk pork and also the barbecue pork ribs and both were fantastic. The rice and everything was just so well seasoned, and I’ll definitely be back. Side note I lowkey wish it came with fried plantains but nevertheless the food was AMAZING!!“
“The food at this restaurant is authentically Jamaican. I had a boat ride last year in Freeport, Long Island. The owner/chef not only delivered the food to my boatride but also helped to set up. This is by far some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. My guests raved about the food all night. This review is long overdue and I just realized that I hadn't written one. Better late than never I suppose! ?“
“Usually I don’t trust high ratings with only a few stars but I tried today while waiting on some work to get done and definitely left full and satisfied. Can definitely recommend their stew and fried chicken. Will be returning when next I’m in the area.“
“Okay where is the " 10 stars" option? When I tell you their food is amazing ,I mean haands down amazing! I can hardly walk by without stopping to buy ,and I been gaining weight as a result of that even though I always choose to order with only vegetables, no rice. I anticipate Fridays when they cook the goat soup(Manish water) it's the best I ever had ,and am 39 years old lol. They are always very pleasant, and I like that because most places you go to ,the workers are always so rude and unpleasant,as a matter of fact that's how I ended up starting to buy food here, because I was frequent at another Jamaican Restaurant other the other side of the street a little walk down, and the gal that works there ever rude, and I decided to try this Restaurant instead, and I was forever hooked, thanks to bad customer service at another place, I found this gem. ?“
“I’ve been here twice and gotten the oxtails with, plantains and rice and beans. The flavor is out of this world and the oxtail is incredibly tender. They were also generous with their portion sizes. I really enjoyed the meal so much! They offer a lunch special, medium and large size for dishes.“
“Talk about the best Jamaica restaurant in the Northeast Bronx. Whatever is on the menu, it’s finger licking. Good customer service . Fast service , you will be in and out .. They give you a lot of oxtail gravy lol . The steam fish , fry chicken and oxtail is a must when you go there .“
“I actually stumbled upon this restaurant on Uber Eats after the other Jamaican restaurant canceled on me. I decided to give Jah Leng a try. First of all it came in less than 30 mins. I ordered the oxtail, it was so delicious I am sorry I did not order the large. It was soft and it was not salty or fatty. I love that the salad was in a separate little bowl. I have to find the restaurant and have a sit down meal. Very pleased!! 10 out 10 for me!!“
“Delicious, clean, fresh and authentically Jamaican food served in a pleasant atmosphere with a courteous, pleasant and efficient staff. Orders may also be taken out. Rowe's Restaurant catered a very happy event for my family and the food was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Folks had multiple helpings- also a testament to Rowe's generous servings. This restaurant is a wonderful find!“
“Country life jerk is definitely a hidden gem. The food is authentic and delicious. To date i've only tried the jerk chicken, mac n cheese and soup and none of them disappoint. The mac n cheese is made with cheddar and is cheesy!! The jerk chicken is seasoned well, tender and portions are always good, even for the small sizes. In addition, they follow special instructions and the service is friendly ...top notch!!“
“My first time in mount vernon NY. The Steam House was amazing. Our party of 8 were the only people in the place at the time. It felt like we had a private party. Attention to customer service was great and the food was even better. Highly “
“For a person who has never tried oxtail before this place really did there thing on the oxtail very tender and a nice sweetness to it and the jerk chicken is very juicy not even dry just make sure if you don’t like spicy to add light jerk sauce because it really got a kick to it. Definitely coming “
