So there I am, driving down W Beech and I see a big bright pink wall that has "Baked" painted on it. Obviously, your girl had to get her baked goods on and inquire about a place where she can work on her laptop for a bit.I walked into the most ADORABLE and delicious baked goods shop. Beachy vibes with a PLETHORA of options. Merch was so cool and included a "Baked" beach towel. It looks like the specialize in their rainbow cookies, but I don't really like rainbow cookies so you might have to try those for yourself. I grabbed two cake pops, chocolate and carrot cake. Both really satisfied my sweet tooth. The kicker, THEY SERVE ALCOHOL! Beer, hard seltzers and other lighter beverages, but I mean sweets and booze...how can you go wrong. I refrained from grabbing a alcoholic beverage this time around, but you better believe I will do that next time. Finally, the staffer behind the counter was super sweet and patient with my disbelief in how cute this place was and the variety of options they have. And making a decision about food is always so hard. Not only was she very nice and did her best to advise in my decision.“

The bakery is gorgeous filled with lots of antique fixtures and vintage wallpaper. Everything has beautiful storage and you feel like you’re transported into a different time era. The staff is so nice and so accommodating. The maple scones are excellent! I’ve never had scones in my life that were so soft on the inside and perfection on the outside. They weren’t overtly sweet either which was perfect! The thumbprints are fantastic. The chocolate cookie sandwich was also excellent! I have never tried this particular cuisine before so this was an easy choice. With a nice small selection that makes it easy to choose, I went for a selection of Haitian Patties and a douce for dessert. So, for $6, I got a meal that filled me plus a dessert munch. I think for the amount you pay to park at UBC, you could buy an entire family dinner here! Now the food.* Patties: They were out of spinach so I had chicken, beef, herring, codfish. The difference in the two fish patties was subtle - I think the codfish is a little "whiter" tasting (in fish terms, less fishy and a little... more like flour?) but I could definitely tell there were two different patties. The chicken and beef were easier to tell apart. All had a unique balance of flavor that made them unmistakably Haitian and a great value. It only took a few minutes to heat up the patties that were made that same day and hand them over, too. So no delay for gameday.* Douce: A unique dessert, it's quite hard and crumbly to bite into, but isn't actually a crunch dessert. It gets a little softer and sticker as you get into it. Something totally outside North American cuisine but totally authentic and again, that unique Haitian flavor to it. I kinda wish I had tried all the flavors of this one too.Atmosphere is just a storefront, no eat-in. Service is very friendly and fast, and you do get a selection of other Haitian and Caribbean foods/drinks, not just the baked goods. Place is jammed back...what do you expect it to sound like? People complaining about kids are the same $hit parents who rather hand their kid a iPad instead of letting them socialize. When we go there we expect it to be busy, loud, kids be kids, great food, great service and pay cash. With new owner ship comes many things and one them was the menu. We were thrown off since we were expecting our usual order. A lot of their items on the menu can be easily replicated at home. When we go out to eat we only order what we don't make for the most part. My wife ordered their Chicken Tenders which was made fresh as they were chicken cutlets cut down. I thought it was OK my wife was not happy bc the crispy bread outside came off the chicken itself. We also got wings and beer battered onion rings. Onion rings were great and wings are wings. We don't deep fry in the house for many reasons...we never ordered anything deep fried at the old spot either. Got their loaded potato skins which my wife enjoyed as well. Reviews about the new whip cream being OFF in taste is correct. Gelato tasted the same to us which was good. Price seemed fair for what we got compared to others places we have gone too. “I've came to blacksmiths many times for coffee and bakery items, but today was my first time having an actual breakfast. The breakfast quesadilla was pretty good and a big portion size in my opinion. I always love getting the maple brown sugar latte!
