“I have tried the food twice in this place, the first time I had a good experience in terms of the food, this is my second time and it did not go very well with my order I ordered spaghetti Alfredo with shrimp, the food looked very good,but when I tried it it had absolutely no flavor and the sauce was very plain like water. “Stopped by wood and fire this afternoon for an early lunch. We’ve been several times and I always get the brook street pizza with no mozzarella cheese (I can’t eat it) so I’m always excited for a thick crust pizza with lots of sauce, no moz, and pepperoni. It’s so good! (I’m sure it is with the cheese too!). My bf usually switches it up and got the picante this time and said it was really good. We got a side of truffle fries and they were delicious. This time I also ordered the wood and fire brownie and it did not disappoint. It’s easily enough for 2 people and it was so good with the brûlée bananas and gelato. I would definitely get it again.The staff is nice and the inside is really cozy. They have an inclosed ‘outdoor’ area that I’m guessing is more open when it’s warmer. “I started going to Amore a couple years ago. When we parked it looked very quaint , We walked in and it was like stepping into little Italy the staff will go up and above to make u meal fantastic. There us a area to sit outside when its warm and its so nice in doing so I would recommend it. My family has also spent many holidays here and the atmosphere and food is amazing as always but u need not just go for a Holiday any day is fantastic at Amore. “The pepperoni rolls here are somehow the most amazing food on Earth. They had went downhill for a bit - which was still superior to most - but somehow have made a comeback to perfection. Only downside is that I do not live in Croton anymore, and the 50 we bought to take home are now having to be shared with the kids because they too have realized how great they are! They treated us to tiramisu because we went the day of the snowstorm and they had some left over that wouldn't have been fresh the next day. It was superb. “This is definitely an "Old School" Italian restaurant. We had a large party, and they have a dining area off to the side that nicely accommodated us. The wait staff kept our water glasses full and checked in often. I'm not sure if the food service is slow on purpose (so that you don't feel rushed), or if it's just slow. There was a ton of bread and butter on the table along with olives, cubed cheese and a tomato bruschetta sauce for dipping. The fried calamari was tender and tasty. I'd give it 5 stars. Everything else was fine. (I thought the Mussels Bianco were over salted.) Though my date loved his Shrimp Marinara (which had a lot of other shellfish in it too), our other friend didn't love the fillet of sole. BUT, another eating companion LOVED the Osso Bucco. Ya' can't please everyone, but it sure is a nice place to sit and enjoy everyone's company!“
