“Wonderful food and even nicer people. Spent a weekend in the Utica area and decided to stop here for lunch. We felt like we were having lunch with family. Everyone was so kind and friendly. Ended up ordering the lamb gyro and the salad with chicken shawarma. Both dishes were delicious and very fresh. The owner, Layla, offered us coffee that was rich and tasty. It is very difficult to replicate the kind of service you find here. We would not hesitate to come back again if we were in the area.“

“Our server was extremely kind. The duck was good. Cherry sauce with the duck amazing. The steak was so under done it was purple and so tough I could barley cut through it let alone chew it. I had two bites. I felt to bed to speak up because the server was so friendly and busy bartending. Not worth the $154 for two people. My husband loved their new galette appetizer.“

“I had been to Nail Creek many times, but never had anything to eat. This time, I went for lunch and got the lunch special which was a hot dog with white beef chili on top alongside fries. It was absolutely delicious and I hope it's a special again next time I'm in. My friend got shrimp tacos and was equally satisfied with her choice. They have a great draft selection, with something for everyone, and service was great. The bartenders are super friendly. The place itself has an old charm to it while still seeming modern, is clean and well-maintained. I definitely want to go back for their brunch menu!“

“El Barajo has long been on my list of restaurants to try in the Utica area. We finally ordered lunch from there via UberEats and were very pleased with our meal. We ordered the pollo guisado, camaronfongo, and a vegetable empanada. All three were delicious, but I especially enjoyed the pollo guisado. The chicken--all dark meat, which I prefer--was melt-off-the-bone tender and very well-seasoned. We opted for yellow rice and black beans as sides, which were excellent accompaniments. My kids also loved this dish. I really loved the flavors of the camaronfongo (basically mofongo with shrimp), but only wish that there was more broth to pair with the mofongo. The mofongo was a bit dry, and I needed some more sauce or broth to moisten it and cut through the density. The fried vegetable empanada was crispy and delicious. The portions were generous; our order was enough for two adults and two toddlers, with leftovers enough for an adult's full meal.“

“My wife and I stopped in here on our way through town and were not disappointed. The beers were incredible and they had a huge range of beers with something for everyone. I had a Hulbert House Helles lager and could've had 10 more! Finished with a maple bourbon barrel aged beer that was perfect for dessert! We had a tot waffle and a couple of flatbreads that were all really good. Reasonable prices considering how everything is these days. We stopped in on a Thursday and they were pretty busy with their trivia night. Cozy place. Looks like they have a huge front lawn that they use during the summer. We'll have to come back!“

“Really great spot for breakfast! I love the 50’s themed decor in the diner and love that they host car shows in the summer. Their breakfast menu is very large and there are a lot of great options. Their pancakes are very fluffy and delicious and I really liked how perfectly crispy my bacon was. The free refills on the coffee was also an added bonus. The breakfast specials on the front of the menu are very large, so bring a big appetite if you are trying to clear your plate!“

“BIG price jump since I was there 6 months ago. Food and service are outstanding, but the prices are now ridiculous. $65 for Chilean Sea bass? That's even more than the $59 steak or $49 lobster mac n cheese. Even my fish and chips (3 small fish nuggets with fries and a small spoonful of slaw) was $29. They even have a margarita that costs $39. Seriously? This is a great restaurant, but I don't want to pay Michelin prices for a non-Michelin restaurant. This will no longer be my go-to when I'm in the area.“
