“Wonderful visit! My first time there and I will definitely be back. It was my birthday and once they heard that it was my birthday weekend they offered us a round of gummy bear shots! Of course we accepted! ?I wish I remembered our servers name, but blame the shots, not me. ? She was wonderful and I feel so bad that I forgot! She had a long brown ponytail and I think she may have worked the bar as well during the lunch shift. Not your come chill with friends coffee shop. I am a black americano drinker...so judging just on the coffee...it is not quite as good as some other downtown shops, but not bad. Looks like they have lots of flavored options that people were ordering and liked. Baristas were very friendly.“
“I get food from here at minimum once a week, typically closer to twice. This is my favorite spot to grab food in Hingetown/Ohio City. You don’t have to be vegan to love their menu. I am never bored, and all of the staff I have interacted with are chill and friendly. Very excited to see what they do in the new space!My favorite menu items are the Blue Juice (recent obsession), the bravocado sandwich, and the Buffalo springpea salad. I love that most of the sandwiches can be a salad as well for the days I don’t want the bread. Best and most filling salads.“
“I called last minute with a request for a 20 person business meeting. Not only was the food ready on time but the owner made sure I didn't over order to spend more than I had to. The portions were very healthy (enough for everyone with some people to have food take home) and everyone loved it !!! “(this is an updated review) I was in the mood for a salad and Googled salad bars and this restaurant came up. I am from Wickliffe and had no idea it was there. I went in and ordered a large salad and I have to say it was spectacular. So much so I attempted to go there twice after that but they were having staffing issues. I wrote a negative review and I should have given it much more thought. It is too easy to be negative and they did not deserve that. I will be back because sometimes you just want a salad. Everything was crisp and fresh and the salsa ranch salad dressing was GREAT!! Excellent. They do need to get some diet pop though (I can forgive them this because that is not good for you anyhow)“

“Kafela is a St. Clair-Superior neighborhood gem! This breakfast and lunch cafe gives off such a positive vibe from the moment you walk in. I was greeted not only by a friendly face at the counter, but also many large green plants and sunlight filling the space. All of the menu items are named after locations and nods to sunny Los Angles. I got the Berry Much L.A. smoothie which was delish. I also got the Lavender Love Spell drink, which was lemonade with a lavendar butterfly tea that sparkled! For my meal, I got the chicken ceasar wrap with a side of sweet potato fries. The wrap was good. Classic caesar, although the chicken was well seasoned and I liked that the wrap was partially toasted. The sweet potato fries were delicious. When I inquired about the seasoning on the fries, I was told that they made their own sunshine blend to sprinkle on top. I couldn't place the flavors, but it was amazing! The star of my meal was the deep fried oreos. I wanted to leave with something sweet and these oreos did not disappoint! They had a chocolate drizzle and powdered sugar on top and came with a scoop of vegan vanilla ice cream. Fried oreos are usually only good when they're hot, I ate these cold all throughout the day and enjoyed every bite. The best part of Kafela is seeing how much of a gathering space it's become for people in the neighborhood. There were so many members of the community coming in throughout the time I was there to pick up a smoothie, order lunch, or just say hello and chat with the owner or other patrons. It truly felt like a place you could call home and I loved that.“

“What a nice place to get a delicious smoothie! They have food as well but I got a healthy, banana and pb smoothie. They have enhancements as well, and I just worked out, so naturally I got the muscle builder enhancement which had creatinine and hemp protein to add into the smoothie. They have plenty of options. When your food is made FRESH and TO ORDER, you cannot expect to get it in a hurry, although there are many grab-and-go options to choose from if you cannot wait. It's also FIRST COME - FIRST SERVE. You cannot play leap frog and jump the line when there are online and call-ahead orders that need to be filled. If you're pressed for time, go somewhere else. “My husband and I made dinner reservations for 7:30 on a Friday evening. The waiting area is a tad confusing; you're suppose to check in upstairs before they escort you down the stairs. So, wait until you're greeted upstairs before you head downstairs. The atmosphere is very chic. We were seated at the table across from the stairs. I noticed throughout our time there that many people came immediately downstairs just to go up the stairs again. My personal opinion is there should be a clear sign upon entry to wait upstairs before being escorted down. Service was slow in the beginning; it was most likely due to the fact that there were multiple parties seated before us at the same time. Nevertheless, I counted about 5-6 working servers, 2-3 bartenders, and 1 very active hostess so that shouldn't be an issue. Our server, Miguel, took about 8 minutes to greet us and take our beverage order. The wait time when we were seated set precedent of the wait for food and drinks the entire evening. Because of that realization, we ordered our drinks and appetizer immediately, then our entree before appetizer even came out. Our drinks consisted of Caipirinha, Resurrection, and Mango Jalapeño Margarita. The food were empanadas, carne asada, and mango salmon. It took ~18 minutes for our 2 drinks to come out. We noticed the table who arrived around 10 minutes after us received their drinks before we did. I don't know the complexity of their drink order but we should've received ours prior to them. Our appetizer came out shortly after. The food and drinks were robust, and we enjoyed them all. The empanadas were flavorful and came out piping hot. We could've ordered another plate of it. The sweet plantains with the carne asada was a sweet treat of a salty and savory dish. The salmon and mango was also a great combination. The mango is a cold topper so don't expect the salmon to come out hot. We spend about $140 with 1 appe, 2 entrees, and 3 drinks. It's a little expensive than our average date night but the portions were great :)“

Everyone loved their food, and the vibe is quiet enough to carry on a conversation. The only caution is that parking can be tricky, so allow more time to find a spit (CH is repairing one of the parking garages).“
