Custom cakes are always fresh and made correctly. Skip the stuff in the cold-cases though, can be kind of old/dry. Can't speak for the donuts and bagels because I don't get them from Kroger. Just basing my review on the multiple custom decorated cakes I have purchased from Kroger's. They have always been fresh and decorated correctly with gourmet-flair and quality ingredients.
I shop at Kroger because of the convenience but am very frustrated that there are rarely lanes open with a cashier. At this point you are forced to be your own cashier....plus bagging! If I have to work for Kroger, I should get a discount!
