“Very flavourful food from an honest restaurant. This gentleman can cook. I like that I can taste the coconut milk in the rice and peas. Oxtail is great and the gravy is the best part. I went in to for oxtail and he honestly told me they were not ready. He said he could give me some as it was cooked but it wasn't cooked to the right tenderness. That's honesty! He could have served it up and would have spent the rest of the day trying to get meat off the bones, lol.I had the jerk chicken instead and it was great! The stew chicken and curry goat are also excellent. This is my "go-to" for Jamaican food staples like oxtail, curry goat and jerk chicken.“
“I haven’t dreamed in years. This food was so good it knocked me out and gave me a dream so vivid I woke up convinced I’d seen the entire first episode of the second season of a tv show that didn’t exist. I even watched a season 1 recap. Season two had Patrick Wilson as a series lead.Ritz has the best hours too, I work evening so having a place that’s open late - every day - it’s like I’m dreaming while awake.“
“Tasty food, awesome atmosphere, smallish portions.Ordered bunch of dishes to share.Appetizers. Ackee & saltfish bites were quite delicious, but the fritters didn’t really taste like anything other than plain fried dough.Mains. Jerk chicken was very good, perfect level of spicy. Oxtail was super tender, melt in your mouth, rice and peas were also great. Curry goat was good, but not particularly special. Pan seared snapper fillet was the HIGHLIGHT of the night, big flaky pieces of flesh, sauce was so nice and creamy, vegetables and other toppings paired great.Overall fun and tasty experience. Although I understand why they include 20% gratuity for larger groups, I just personally don’t think a party of 6 was big enough to demand a surcharge.“
“I recently ate at Hutchie Catering while on vacation. This is a Caribbean treasure nestled away in Toronto. When I entered the restaurant, I was met with friendly service and a delicious aroma of spices drifting from the kitchen. The ambiance was appealing, with Caribbean music playing in the background, making me feel nostalgic back to Trinidad. I got a chicken roti (impeccable I must say) and jerk chicken takeout, which tasted even better the next day, much to my surprise. Make sure to purchase a bottle of pepper sauce; it's my absolute favorite and really tasty. I definetly recommend it as a Trinidadian.“
“Muy Rico! Con las 3 B Bueno, bonito y barato.I had the boneless chicken jerk and the fried chicken with rice. They offered to put gravy on the rice which made it even more delicious. Everything was excellent, the food, the service and the atmosphere.I was looking at their plants while waiting for my order. At the end they made sure I had everything I asked for.The portions are amazing for what you pay.The hot sauce is very good but because I'm Mexican the amount was to small for me.“
“We really enjoyed our experience at Veggie D’light. I called ahead since we were coming from Oshawa and the woman on the phone was very friendly and helpful. We then travelled to one of our favourite places Kensington Market to this restaurant. They were welcoming and offered us a taste of the soup since we had travelled so far. It was delicious. We placed our order and ordered enough for dinner the next day too! The food was very tasty and loved the roti shell! ( not too hot though and we like the heat) we were offered scotch bonnet sauce but I find that too much. We really enjoyed our food, good portions for the cost. We would definitely recommend and definitely will return!“
“This place is FANTASTIC-friendly, attentive service, spic and span casual dining area and beautifully prepared Jamaican Fare served up in hefty portions, and in much nicer take out containers than your standard styrofoam, to boot! Also- SMOKED jerk pork?!?? BRING YOUR APPETITE, HONEY!!!! Tdot Jerk is off the chain!!!“
“Great Patties but super busy and hard place to find a parking spacePatties extremely spicy but tasty and very hot (freshly made) a must try if you like Patties also reasonably priced if you can go on off peak hours .... I will go back for sure“
“I always walk past this spot looking at the posted menus and never stepped in to try. Until now and which happens to be Fathers Day and I must say was not disappointing. Alcoholic drinks did not chinks on the servings.Food presentations was awesome, price per servings matched and the taste was empicable. Must say it definitely deserved 2 thumbs up. Would recommend it do anyone“
“Celebrated my wife’s birthday with a meal at Patois. We ordered the prefixed tasting menu and boy did it deliver! Great variety in the dishes cooled and you could really see the efforts made to fuze Asian and Caribbean cooking. We especially enjoyed the bo lo bao burger and fried chicken. Washed everything down with a cold bottle of Red Stripe. I almost felt like it was my birthday with how much I enjoyed. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu!“
“I am giving 5 stars for the Chili Chicken & Chicken Wings and fried rice.Service is quick too and the two guys who work at the front when I came in today were both nice.Chili Chicken (Dry) is the bomb! ? Our go-to Chinese restaurant in Scarborough. ?“
“Originally mistook this pleasant little place as a 'sit down' restaurant. My friend I were looking for vegan Ethiopian fare, but didn't realize that it was a 'take away' outlet and mini grocery store . That did not matter, the kind woman who was looking after us that night, made room for us; make shift chairs and proceeded to prepare amazing food. She fed us freshly made items and that were very delicious. She prepared Ethiopian coffee. It was like being in someone's home. I actually picked up a couple of grocery items (nutritional yeast for one). Overall, a surprise visit on a very cold January evening, but it worked out remarkably well. Hospitality was top notch. Thank you! አመሰግናለሁVegetarian options: Just go and visit. The grocery items along the wall will cater to almost every vegan or vegetarian's needs. The place smells glorious. Nutritional yeast was/is great! Go in and someone will definitely help you.Dietary restrictions: If you're vegan, or lactose intolerant: no worries here! The servings are plentiful and delicious. No compromise on taste whatsoever.“
“I highly recommend this Jamaican restaurant for its incredible cuisine the service was impeccable, with the cashier being particularly friendly and helpful and it has a exquisite captivating atmosphere. It's an absolute must-visit for anyone craving an authentic taste of Jamaica.“
“One of the best Caribbean food in town! The flavour of the jerk chicken is amazing, juicy and spicy. The seasoning they use is mouth watering. Highly recommend you try this hidden spot. The owner is always nice and smiling. My only complaint is the portions are a little small but for the price, you can’t beat it.“
“Just got a chance to try out there new location at kennedy and 14th in markham. This location is spacious, with dine in available (limited seating) and free parking. Allow yourself 15-30min for your order. We ordered the jerk chicken poutine, jerk meal with rice and peas (they use basmati rice) with veggies and fried chicken with coleslaw and veggies (coleslaw is the made with vinegar and tastes amazing and tangy!) I love how consistent with the food, hits the spot everytime and staff were eally friendly and welcoming.“
“Exceptional service from Larry! I had a small complaint that I filled out on a survey I got with my text receipt. Within 5 minutes while I was still eating my food, I found Larry approach me with a free slice of cake, an apology, and an explanation regarding my comment from earlier. His approach was super quick and went above and beyond to make me a happy customer.“
“Hakka N Jerk offers a tantalizing fusion of Hakka and Jamaican cuisine. With dishes like Jerk Chicken Spring Rolls and Hakka Chili Chicken, schezwan fried rice the menu bursts with flavor. Friendly service make it a top pick for a memorable experience.“
“The best Caribbean food I’ve found in Toronto and definitely the area. We love their jerk chicken (with rice and peas or the potatoes) and ox tail, especially the ox tail pasta. Incredible place, friendly people. I recommend ordering in advance to cut down on wait time.“
“Been hearing about this place for the longest time. I live in Mississauga & work Downtown, so I had to somehow make my way down here for lunch… Finally did, and it did not disappoint. We were greeted by Stacy & she took care of everything, especially when it got real busy for lunch. Precise with her orders. I got the Jerk Chicken lunch special & the infamous Oxtail Stuffed Patty. Let’s start with the lunch special. Perfectly seasoned chicken, flavourful rice & creamy coleslaw. A great deal for lunch !!Now for what we came for. The Oxtail Stuffed Patty. Let me tell you how good this thing is, trust me, it’s worth the wait & a staple for this restaurant.A hot, flaky beef patty, with flavourful, tender Oxtail with gravy (it’s not real if you don’t find a bone or two in there) & coleslaw stuffed inside. Wow. Is all I have to say. Please get it, does not disappoint. One thing though, you have to eat the Stuffed Patty right away as the gravy will make it soggy & you don’t want that. However, it’s still good even if it is soggy. I ate my lunch special first that’s why.Highly recommended place, will definitely be back again, whenever I can. Thanks guys !!“
“Probably the best chicken curry roti I've had since moving to Toronto 6 months ago.Kind of stumbled on this place while walking around the mall. Glad I stopped in.Service was very good. Nice and fast.Their chicken roti is not like a wrap but open faced roti in a bowl with potatoes and a pile of boneless chicken curry piled on. You have to fork and knife it.To me, this is what roti should be like. It's more the caribbean style vs Indian. The flavour was great. Loads of nice tender chicken pieces. Forget all the other places and just go here for your fix.Thank you!“
“The people are very friendly and the food is the best!!… The idea of the buffet style makes it easy to choose from a variety of foods.Vegetarian options: I love the fact that they serve vegetables, because most Jamaican restaurants don’t serve vegetables and I couldn’t understand why…“
“Highly recommend! Scotthill Caribbean Cuisine is one of my favourite restaurants in the city! I’ve had them cater twice and both times have been blown away. The food is so spectacular, people were coming back for a third serving! The jerk-chicken is a must! The chef and owner, Keith, is amazing. Had such a great experience and received the best service. Many thanks to Keith and the Scotthill team! Will definitely be back with another order soon!“
“Seriously delicious flavours, friendly, fun staff, creative cocktails all in a beautiful space. As soon as we walked through the door we we were hit with the sweet aroma of the spices of the Caribbean. The vibe is warm and inviting. I suggested trying this place to some colleagues. As someone from Jamaica I have high standards for the flavours of the Caribbean. Everyone at the table and I mean everyone enjoyed it. Everything is served family style. I don’t eat meat so we enjoyed the fish and vegetarian options. The 6 of us shared the salt cod fritters, nuff nuff slaw, doubles, fried snapper, crab XO, coconut rice and Mac pie. We were full up!! Probably ordered a dish too many but it was worth it. If you’re used to traditional Caribbean flavours you will not be disappointed. I will definitely be back either for a quick cocktail before an event or for another delicious meal.“
“The food was very tasty, the atmosphere was captivating. They had a live band playing at the time. They played a lot of classics. The walls were decorated with clippings of different Caribbean islands. I couldn’t stop reading. Only takeaway was the portion sizes. One bakes was split in half in my “
“I went here on my birthday with family and I would say it was pretty decent place to dine out. As a Caribbean restaurant it comes with what you expect: DJ/band performances, loud but good atmosphere, and good food/drinks.The food I ordered was the:-Chilli Chicken-Chilli Chicken poutine-Avenue special Chow Mein-A shrimp platterThose dishes were good and my only complaints are that the chowmein was salty and the chili chicken was more sweet than spicy.“
“An amazing homey place with delicious food. Service is great and the workers are so nice. Beef patties are spectacular.Parking: The parking is almost always available and affordable.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly with nice people working there.“
“No more going to Mona's roti since finding this hidden gem near Markham and Eglinton across from Walmart. Prices are amazing as are the chicken rotis, daily soups, patties, jerk chicken and our favorite oxtail and rice!! Love their food and their prices and will be a loyal customer.“
“got the wings and mac and cheese! the mac could definitely use some seasoning but it was really cheesy. the chicken wings were a delight! so good and they were HUGE! cooked perfectly! for all my muslims only the chicken is halal not the oxtail! i also wish they wouldn’t put the wings on the mac cause i don’t like the sauces mixing! just something to think about next time when ordering!“
“Always good there f the ood is real carribean roti style .So I started going back to Alis .because I loved it so much in the past have don't get me wrong taste is great but now when I get my roti wrapped it was just dough I mean that is ridiculous just dough roti dry and almost choked us .so if you gonna buy your roti don't get it wrapped .if you like it wrapped wrap it yourself because when they do you get nothing on the inside and I find that as very dishonest.. I'm not sure if I'm gonna spend my money their with people who robbing you. The roti hut tates better anyways so BOOM. .I found another roti place that don't scam me out if my money and serve ten ponds of dough deceive me had me thinking my roti fat for 17 dollars and then nothing on the inside bare flour..You guys expanded and then start to get greedy with people. NOT COOL AT ALL TO LOYAL CUSTOMERS.“
“First time trying this place. My husband and I each got a lunch special bowl for $10 each but it was so much food we ended up sharing one and saved the other one for dinner! The place was very clean and the staff was very friendly!! I'm definitely coming back.“
“Roti Shop Shines with Five-Star Excellence! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐My recent experience at Roti Shop was nothing short of exceptional, earning this establishment a well-deserved five stars! From the moment I entered, the warm and inviting aroma of freshly prepared rotis filled the air. The menu offered a delightful variety of choices, each promising an authentic taste of culinary excellence. I opted for the classic chicken curry roti, and it was a revelation. The roti was perfectly flaky, and the chicken curry was an explosion of flavours that left my taste buds dancing with joy.“
“Ital Vital is an absolute must! I had them cater for an event and am beyond happy with how it went! The food was so amazing! We had so many delicious options and everyone loved it. The plant-based bbq spare rib was a crowd favourite! The chef and owner, Arnold, is so kind and generous. The customer service experience was incredible. It was such a pleasure having Ital Vital cater to us and I can’t wait to call them back soon!“
“Place is still fire. Prices are still competative. The jerk chicken plate is juicy and good flavor. Patties are still very good although not the best in the city anymore. But still a top 5. Coleslaw is good. It's a good place. The goat Roti is also very respectable. The employees are always happy to see you.“
“One of my "go-tos" for my Trini foods. Yes, you have to wait but you can order online and by phone (when they have the time to answer). It's always so busy in there but it comes as no surprise. Complain all you want about the wait but the food is well worth it and the same complainers keep coming back for more. Great food great folks!Vegetarian options: Many Vegetarian optionsParking: Plaza has adequate parking around the store“
“First time trying Jerk Up Central and I was very happy I did. Lots of great parking, very friendly shop owner and damn good food!! I was hoping to try the Cow Foot special but it wasn't available, I did try the large jerk chicken, ox tail and jerk pork. All three were delicious and great portion sizes. Not to mention, the price is well worth the portion. Keep up the great food and prices Jerk Up!“
“I have no idea why I waited so long to visit this gem of an iconic Jamaican restaurant.Today was my first time visiting and let me tell you it won't be my last! The Chicken Roti was amazing! The Roti literally weighed 5 pounds they really stuff it with a lot of chicken and potatoes. And they serve that signature coleslaw on the side as well! The food gets a 100 out of 100!Can't wait to go back to try some more dishes!Well I went back after a couple of days and I got me some Jerk Chicken with Rice & Peas and Fried Plantains! You gotta eat here it's phenomenal and your taste buds will thankyou! Also the customer service is amazing. I really enjoyed chatting it up with the young lady at the counter!Very nice people. The food and the kindness will bring a smile to your face!“
“Ok I have to say that this was one of Best tasting oxtail and rice I’ve had! The Flavour was amazing. The only issue I found was that It was not much meat For 20$also I found the coleslaw was extremely sweet But definitely go back,in the future I would ask for the macaroni pie Instead of coleslaw?“
“Food was delicious, service was good. Only wish there was a bit more light. I understand wanting to create a particular ambience with the lighting and decoration, but the lights were too dim.Had to take out my phone and turn the flashlight on after the food arrived to be able to look at it.“
“Best Jamaican food ever,Their chicken soup is so good, whenever I have a cold I go there for some comfort food.I ordered fish for Easter and they were fresh and tasty just like home. The owners are amazing and so friendly, my go to Jamaican store. The best.“
“A Birthday Bash to Remember at The Diner's Corner! Gather 'round, fellow adventurers, as I spin a tale of friendship, reggae, and the most delicious rum punches you've ever tasted!Last night, we celebrated my dear friend Schevon's birthday in style at The Diner's Corner, and let me tell you, it was a night to remember! From the Irie vibes casting a warm glow to the dancehall tunes filling the air, stepping into this restaurant was like stepping onto a sandy beach in Jamaica! But first, a toast to Schevon – a friend whose light shines brighter than the neon signs outside! With drinks in hand and smiles on our faces, we raised our glasses to another year of adventures, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Now, let's talk about the food. Oh, the food! From oxtail to saucy wings that disappeared faster than you can say "seconds, please," every bite was a symphony of flavor. But amidst the delicious dishes and lively ambiance, it was the company that truly made the night special. Surrounded by friends who feel like family, we laughed, we toasted, and we celebrated Schevon in all her fabulousness. As we bid farewell to The Diner's Corner, our bellies full and our hearts even fuller, I couldn't help but feel grateful for nights like these – where laughter reigns supreme, and memories are made to last a lifetime. Happy birthday, Schevon – here's to many more adventures together!“
“I live in this place with my family. and I am so happy. I did ordered the jerk fries ?, jerk chicken meals and doubles with home sauce homemade drinks. it was absolutely delicious. The food was well seasoned , rice was properly cooked and the roti was so soft and delicious. They also have beef and chicken Pattie’s. I had a chicken pattie and the crust was so smooth and flaky with just the right amount of meat. I enjoy the food in house with my family. All family members were very happy with all foods. I think Right now something offers is running if you buy jerk fries then comes one drink and one chips free. it’s awesome deals. Check the latest deals. this is Caribbean shop and it is amazing and awesome ? (5 Stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ) ?? And good service was provided by Anthony and Surya. They are friendly.“
“In my opinion the best soup I’ve had in Canada. Fish soup is my favourite and is always on point.4 stars only because their hours are not consistent. Hours of operations is dependant multiple non communicated factors. This may have you standing at a “closed” for the day door.“
“Small entrance but the scents hit you big time once you get in. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The food taste just the way you would expect ? some good Jamaican food cooked by knowledgeable Jamaicans to taste like. It go sweet you belly bad!“
“Wow wow wow as a Jamaican now I can say I found a real Jamaican restaurant who understands Jamaican taste I have tried so many restaurants and tell you the truth it’s garbage I swear these Jamaican restaurants cooking for Canadian born people if you are a Jamaican and you want to taste that real authentic Jamaican food this the place to be ????????????????????????“
“We love Island Foods! We were regulars when it was over on King. But it closed and we moved out of the neighborhood. So this is our first time at this location - and it did not disappoint. I had my fav - boneless goat roti. The trick is to eat in and order it with gravy on the top. Lot of deep rich curry gravy really makes it into something special. It's the best thing!“
“Love this place, and forever will. It hits home for me. Anytime I'm in the area I always make sure to grab extra. Anytime my partner is around!!! Lol He knows the drill. Hands down they in my top 5. Shout out to all the cooks that bring that real back home cooking.“
“Mary and Magnus are dedicated owners that consistently make sure they are doing their best to serve quality food with amazing service.Rasta Pasta has grown over the years because they have fined tuned their dishes and the community recognizes that. The jerk chicken is out standing! The flavour is on point. Magnus is often found tending the classic barrel bbq/smoker. Mary is always smiling and serving up beautiful & tasty beverages. The one item that is a sure-shot are the stuffed dumplings. Wow! The Jerk Dumpling is the best dumpling I have ever tasted. Amazing.Anyhow, with so many spots to choose from in Kensington Market, Rasta Pasta is a MUST!You will not regret it!“
“Small changes to the side order menu. Still the same delicious, flavourful roti, doubles and jerk chicken. All at very reasonable prices and portion. Call ahead to order but there are some seats inside if you'dlike to wait. Lots of free parking spots.“
“Very friendly staff, gave me some samples so ended up with Oxtail + Jerk chicken mix plate. Can add delicious plantain as add on for $2, got it fresh and hot only after few mins! Oxtail was super tasty and flavorful and the coleslaw was nice too! $20 but huge portions, lasted for 2 servings for me, highly recommended!“
“Found this place on Google Maps, but it is really good!Friendly waitress who did not rush us order. The food and beverages came promptly.I had the goat Roti and a friend had the Jerk Chicken sandwich.Portions were a good size and flavour was on the money.I will be back.“
