“Kwan Specialty is part of the Kwan Dim Sum Chinese Restaurants family. There’s 2 or 3 restaurant locations left in the GTA. The one in Scarborough Towne Centre closed down during the pandemic. The difference with Kwan Specialty, it’s not a restaurant. It’s a place to buy teas, frozen dim sum, pickup limited amount of cakes, pastries, cookies and imported snacks. There’s a Wedding Corner, if you want party favours. They even sell chilli oil and xo sauce for your dim sum.At the centre is a cozy sitting area where you can drink tea and eat pastries. BTW, they don’t heat your frozen dim sum on site, and there’s no washroom facilities to use.Spend $50, you can pay using your credit card. But if you pay cash, you get a $5 voucher on your next purchase. If you spend $100 either cash or credit card you get a free gift. It’s a cake cutter/server with 4 matching small forks.Surprisingly, they sell party trays enough to feed 4-5 people, but you need to preorder ahead of time.I like their assortment of frozen foods and dim sum. Each one is labelled with cooking instructions. They even have a vegetarian section.This is a great place for seniors to come and get their food supply for the week. Only issue is there’s no push or wave button automatic door openers for people with mobility issues. Update: There is a push button, but not working at my 2nd visit back.Luckily, they do delivery on specific days and locations for those seniors and anyone in general. There’s a pull up banner sign near the front door with further details or call them. You can order online.Shopping bags are extra.Employees are friendly and can speak in English fluently.It’s in a great location as it almost shares the same parking lot as Costco and a Chinese Restaurant.“

“This was my first time trying this bakery in this mall. And overall this place had so many options which all were so delicious, the quality of the food was amazing, everything was so fresh and there were a few things that were sold out when we came because of the popularity. But the service was very accommodating and the servers even gave us separate bags for each pastry and bun. But the main thing that stood out was the price for everything. It was all so cheap for the quality we were getting and it allowed us to try so many different things. I will definitely be coming back to try more and also seating was available nearby due to this place being in the food court area.“

“They don't have much information about the bakery and they have a very small selection. The location is very small and it's shared with a sushi location. It's very unique space I have never seen something like this before. But the pastries look very good. I got a six pack of sweet tarts. WOW I JUST HAD THE TART AND OMG BEST THING EVER! “This cute patisserie is located inside JTown.It reminds me of Duo Patisserie a lot with the style of the pastries, the similar tart crust and the expensive prices (each pastry ranges from $5 to $8).My gf and I tried the basque cheesecake and the lumiere pastry tart.Basque cheesecake: Really light, fluffy and perfect burnt topping. The cheesecake was rich but still moist.Lumiere pastry tart: The crust was made from a REALLY good cookie crumble. The cheese mousse was lemony and the blueberry yogurt inside cut through the richness of the cheese perfectly.Sadly, because of how expensive this place is (and how far it is from me), I don't think I'd be a regular. I do want to come back and try the Abbie (chocolate raspberry) and Violetta (ube sweet cream) tarts though. They just popped out at me in the dessert window but my gf was feeling the other ones more haha.“

“My sister and I stopped by this shop on a Thursday afternoon. A lovely, cute deli & bakery ran by a very kind and lovely gentleman. We ordered the special of the day, a delicious philly cheesesteak and the Angry bird. Generous toppings on each, we found the cheesesteak to be especially delicious. Tender and generous portions of steak with gooey cheese and yummy sauteed/caramelized onions. So good!! Just a really great sandwich with great and fresh ingredients. Well worth the value too.I will definitely be returning to try more of their daily special selections!“

“Had a great experience coming in for our first time yesterday! They had a great selection of produce, meat, deli and hot foods and the store was very unique. Just wanted to give a huge shout out to Sabrina that works in the bakery. As we stopped by we had picked up some creme brûlée and my Fiancé had asked her a general question and mentioned it was our first time. Her eyes lit up and she came from the back of the bakery counter and shared some treats with us! And then started to explain details about the bakery, items to try, the jelly roll, and the ice cream. She was so passionate about her job and where she worked. We will definitely be back and thank you Sabrina for making this extremely memorable for us!“
“I have a lot of food restrictions. Grainfields bread is the best tasting, cleanest bread I have found. I am sometimes able to locate it in health food stores, but not reliably, so I am very pleased to know I can visit the bakery. “Tucked away in the Gal's Sushi plaza (behind Gal's Sushi) at Warden and Highway 7.My friend ordered a 6 pc assorted box of mochi bubbles to try for dessert on a saturday evening.Chestnut matcha: I've been eating stronger and stronger matcha over the years so my tolerance/preference for DARK matcha is very high. So while university me would've said this was good, it was too light on the matcha flavour for me (the chestnut flavour also wasn't very pronounced).Mango grapefruit: My goodness. This one was my runaway favourite. If I ever come back I might ONLY order this one. The flavour was super pronounced and deep. The cream was nicely balanced.Strawberry rose: Again, not that strong. The scent was very florally and the cross section was super pretty (great for IG) but the flavour could've been stronger. I do think it places 2nd behind the mango grapefruit though.Coconut latte: The most mid one in my opinion. It literally tasted like a cream puff. The coconut taste was LIGHT as hell. It tasted like something I could've whipped up at home.Bubble tea: The tapiocas in the middle made this one taste a lil too ooey goeey for me simply because the mochi is already kinda chewy and then when you add tapioca into the inside mix, it starts to get a lil weird texturally inside your mouth (maybe it's just me). Flavour was like milk tea flavoured.Taro salted egg yolk: Very unique flavour and in my top 3 after mango and strawberry prolly. I thought it would be weird eating salted yolk in its non-molten liquid form inside a dessert. This lil pocket changed my perception. Salted egg yolk tastes quite nice cold haha.I definitely think I should've swapped out coconut latte or the bubble tea flavour for the oreo chocolate flavour. The chocolate sponge in that one would've undoubtedly had a stronger flavour.At $31.99 for a box of 6, these desserts are definitely not worth it. But every so often if you want to indulge go ahead! I would only come here once in a blue moon. Because of the quality of the mochi bubbles, I'll award 4 stars.“

We had driven here based on a recommendation and my goodness I was not disappointed!
