The kava is prepared traditionally and served in a coconut shell. The owner has spent a lot of time in the South Pacific personally meeting with his growers. And no distractions like tv screens or pool tables like an actual bar. Instead they offer things like board games and a guitar if you are lucky enough to play. I also like that they have chosen not to also serve Kratom out of respect for the ceremonial history of kava. It’s an experience!“

“I have ordered Uber eats from here in the past and this was my first time at the store itself! The neighborhood Best Friend Juice bar is located is adorable and plenty of street parking available. The juices and smoothies are fresh and made to order. I previously got the "mean greens" and preferred that over the "best friend" option I got on this trip. There is plenty of seating inside the restaurant, however keep in mind no outdoor seating so pet will need to stay home! The service was friendly however the tipping option starting at 20%, 25% and 30% was a little crazy . I totally understand inflation and how hard it is to be a service worker, however if the employees need that sort of additional compensation I think the business should look inward as to how they are compensating their employees and raise prices accordingly. I'm excited to come back and try their smoothie bowls and special toasts.“

“Super cute little juice shop. Incredibly friendly staff. They go above and beyond and are super engaging and friendly. There was a young 18 year old there with blonde short hair who really was just the sweetest to me when I walked in, very easy to talk to and I commented how mature she seemed. She took a to go order over the phone for me (my daughter was playing softball at the park down the street) and she was super accommodating. I told all the parents on my daughters softball team how cute and delicious the shop was and that they should try it out. A+ in my book! I got the green juice and a chocolate and banana protein bowl... absolutely delightful“

Gabe in specific went through the protein items and sauces one by one, because I have an allium allergy (PITA, that) and found everything had an allium of some kind. So instead of turning me away? He offered to make me something special and even threw in one of my favorite little tart fruits to jazz it up: cranberries! They take their time to prepare as it is freshly made. But well worth the wait. The only challenge is, if you prefer to sit and eat, there are not much seating around here as it is in a mall. “Someone gave me a gift card to Dutch Bros, so I decided to swing in when I drove past today as there was no line in the drive thru, and I needed a pick-me-up.The young man and woman who were working the window around lunchtime were super helpful in assisting me in picking something out since I was unfamiliar with their product offerings, and eventually I settled on the perfect drink for this early February day in the PNW that can’t make up its mind whether it wants to remain overcast or possibly let in a small hint of sun (come on, Portland, you can do it! I believe in you!!).But sun, or no sun, at least now I have a delightful Irish Cream coffee beverage in my hands to help me power through the rest of the work day. Thanks, DB!One side note…This particular location is a bit confusing to get to, as you actually have to pass it a ways in order to get to the only entrance point to the access road that it’s located off of, then make a sharp right turn back toward it. Unfortunately, at this time they are not open at the location stated in their Yelp profile. Please be aware of this if you are planning a visit. A recording on their voicemail states they are currently only serving shave ice at privately booked events. I was really looking forward to trying their shave ice, hopefully I'll be able to check them out sometime this summer.“
