“Food is always as described and they haven't messed up an order in the year that I've been going. The staff tries their best. It's a busy location being next to the mall but they manage to pump out orders in a reasonable time. I recommend calling in orders as wait times in the line via the drive through can be longer. I haven't been inside much but the ambiance is clean and professional.“
“Mt.Angel Abbey is the reason to visit this town , and Lou's kitchen is a place to stop by for any occasion to eat. Soup, salads, and sandwiches are all fantastic. My favorite is a crossian avocado sandwich with potato soup , burgers, and all other menus will be great. Kristi dad was the owner a long time ago, and Scott, her husband bith works so hard and creates great meals !!! Original old building maintained great condition , love the place!!! Thanks, Kristi and Scott .“
“I love this place so much, 5 stars isn't enough, on my last visit I shared a platter with a bunch of sausages on a bed of onions potatoes and sauerkraut. We saved a slice of each one and at the end we had a fork full of heaven, which was a little bit of everything in one bite. We had to get some extra sausages to take home from the shop inside, also their teriyaki jerky is fantastic. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, I'll keep coming back it's worth the hour drive for me.“
“A lavender latte on the back porch overlooking the river on a nice day is just divine. I was excited today, for I had never been upstairs and it was so cozy for a cold morning! It was kid friendly with a rug to play tic-tac-toe and stacking blocks on. I also really appreciate that the seating is kind of spaced out into little nooks so you can have your own quiet space.“
“Cute place, great drinks, yummy pastries. Farmers breakfast sandwich was good and filling; veggie breakfast sandwich supposedly comes with an egg, but it was missing. Ordered to go so didn’t realize until miles away.Previous experience dining in was good and their avocado toast was solid.“
“Better than I expected. Service was excellent!! They were very attentive and quick. They have a good cuteness down. The food was delicious, fresh and hot! Yes tye chips are that good. My burger was just right, cooked well and not too much or too little sauce. Wish I had purchased a drop but next time.“
“We've been wanting to try Happy Garden for a while and finally pulled the trigger the other night. We got a sampling of a few "safe" dishes to get a feel for the food, though when we went to pick it up, we realized that was ill-advised. The order total (which we didn't get over the phone) gave us a bit of sticker shock, as it was $75 for two adults and a child. But, holy moly, that was a lot of food, leftovers enough for a couple of nights! So, accounting for the leftovers we got out of it, the price wasn't bad and ended up on par with the pretty good pizza place 5 miles down the road (also lots of leftovers from that place). The kicker is that the food was actually pretty good! Granted I probably wouldn't know any "authentic" Chinese if I was served it, I'll say I'm not a fan of the heavily Americanized Chinese foods out there that are over-fried before being soaked in an overly sweet sauce that you're pretty sure is just a bad take on ketchup. That Chinese is easy to find and I'm happy to say that Happy Garden is NOT that type of place. So, while I may not be able to attest to authenticity, I can say that what we had was just genuinely good food. The fried dishes were fried correctly, so that they were crispy but not oily. The sweet and sour chicken even kept a nice bite to it after being coated in the sauce! (and they didn't cheat by overcooking it and passing off crunchy for crispy). The kung pao chicken was not overly sweet and had a nice kick. Though I should mention that if you like the starchy, dark, sweet sauce in your kung pao (i.e., Panda Express style), you may want to pass on Happy Garden's version; theirs doesn't resemble that much, though I'd argue it's much better for it. Pot stickers and lo mein were both good as well. And, generally speaking, all of the vegetables were cooked but crisp, and the dishes all had a balanced flavor, where nothing overwhelmed and nothing was bland.Food and price aside, we have no complaints about service. The food was ready on time, hot, and handed to us by a very friendly person (possibly an owner?). Since it's just takeout, there's not much to the service aspect to rate, but what there is was top notch.Overall, I'd say if you're in the Silverton-Mt. Angel area, Happy Garden is the place to go for Chinese. It's certainly now on our top 5 for go-to takeout places!“
“First time there and was very impressed with the food. While the BBQ Pork was different from most Chinese restaurants it still was very good. And the beef broccoli was so good! The best I've ever had. The meat was so tender it melted in your mouth. Had leftovers for dinner the next night.“
