“I'm born and raised here. Zapata's went out of business many years ago. Employees of that excellent establishment started General Z's. It was excellent for years. Now, they must have sold it. The tacos are thrown together, the little bit of cheese not melted, all the familiar staff gone... “
“For the atmosphere and friendliness of staff this place gets a 5 star! As a PRrican I find the staple rice with pigeon peas could be better. I love their chicken soup and pernil. We also had the sorillos and also felt they could be better. But will definitely return, such a fun place to chat and hang with a small group.“
“Just wow. The owner is an angel sent from heaven….The jerk chicken was powerfully flavored and falling off the bone. Unique and exquisite! The curry roti was like a giant wrap except roti is so soft and succulent, filled with wholesome curried meat! Great value for the price. She also had the best sodas here. One thing I can’t describe well enough is the magic of her presence. You will feel at home here, and you can see the love in the plants, the music, and of course it’s in the food. If you come here don’t just order a sandwich, the name is outdated. Try the real food. The servings are hefty and the flavor is out of this world.“
“If I could give the food as much praise as it deserves, I would fill a library of books with how spectacular the flavor was! I enjoyed every bite: the jerk chicken, rice, plantains. Everything was beyond amazing!! If I can make a suggestion, do yourselves a favor and treat your taste-buds to an experience that will leave you wanting more! And, to put a "cherry" on top of a fantastic meal, you simply cannot beat the rum-cake! Delicious!“
“I eat at this place often never actually been there in person only through doordash I think I'm going to make it a point to next time that I am hungry for Winston's I'm going to go there in person I don't know if they have dine-in but I want to see the people that make this food and meet them and tell them personally how much I love them and they're cooking abilities the food there is absolutely not a midget less than fantastic the cakes are phenomenal my absolute favorite is the curry goat rice and peas plantains and stewed cabbage I wish they had other options as signs besides mac and cheese and rice and peas but I will tell you one thing the food there is spectacular“
“Great food! I called ahead and placed my order (1 oxtail & 1 curry goat) and it was ready and waiting when I got there 10mins later. The lady at the counter was sweet and welcoming. As a Jamaican, this food made me proud that it really is an authentic representation of our sweet sweet Jamaica.“
“I live in Canada and I visited this restaurant and the food here was amazing the atmosphere was great the cleanliness on point, service A1, im Jamaican born and raised I'm very picky when it comes to jamaican food because everybody now a days wants to open a restaurant thinking they can cook and I'm tired of wasting money but island bay grill you out did yourself it taste just like back home im actually impressed the Oxtail was so good and it definitely wasn't salty the flavors chefs kiss. When I come back to the US to visit, I will Def be back.“
“We came in from out of state to have a surprise couples wedding shower for my son and future daughter in law in Fogelsville. The theme of the shower was Jamaica and scuba diving! D & S was the perfect centerpiece for the shower! We had 30 people there and EVERY person loved the food! I would not have changed a thing. They made it easy to order and pick up went smoothly. The food was exactly as we ordered and tasted better than we ever could have hoped for! We ordered all 4 main courses and 4 different side dishes, plus the sweet potato pudding for dessert. Everything was excellent and high quality. We had leftovers for the out of state guests for a couple of meals and it was just as good the next day! I would highly recommend this restaurant for a casual meal OR for catering!“
