“My go to starbucks. I don’t get coffee out often, but when I do, I come here and always have a lovely experience. The staff will always greet you, check on what you need if you’re waiting, and just be happy to be there. There is a barista there I’ve seen a few times now and I’m so sorry I did not catch her name but I definitely want to shout her out. She usually wears her hair in braids, dark hair and she seems to be a shift supervisor maybe because it looked like she was training and helping out with bigger tasks. She is absolutely LOVELY! She’s happy from the moment you walk in the door and strives to make everything above and beyond. The few times I’ve seen her she has been working the bar and my drink comes out literally exceptional. Again, so sorry I did not get her name but hopefully fellow consumers will know who I’m talking about! It’s a great feeling to have a team of people that make your mood change for the better as soon as you walk in. They make everyone feel like their regulars and it’s a great environment. Love it!“

“I googled a coffee place. I found this 2 blocks from my nieces apartment. I had my elderly parents with me. They complain everywhere we go. My mom loved the crossiant, arugula, turkey, bacon. “I've tried Top Hat Coffee Lounge by the UPenn campus, but I'm glad I discovered this new location! It's definitely hidden within a plaza and is situated within the walkway as you exit Saks Fifth Avenue. While the space is small, there is still plenty to order in terms of drinks and several pastries as well. The staff greeted us with a very warm welcome and was patient while we decided on our drinks. My friend and I both ordered oat matcha lattes, which were delicious and tasted like high-quality matcha as we were told :) The added perk is that he did not charge us for substituting our milk with oat milk, so thank you for that!“

The pork buns and soup dumplings are definitely a must have, even their scallion pancakes were flavorful and a hit. The beef and curry fried dumplings were also wonderful. Be careful not to order too much because the portions are huge but you can continue to order if you need more! Everything was filling, we spent about $80 with three people, so very affordable! There’s only one server and she moves very quickly and efficiently so make sure you’re ready to order with your paper and don’t hold her up! Would definitely come back for dim sum!“

Soy/Joy Cafe is in my top two vegan restaurants in all of Philly. My favorite dish here is the ramen with BBQ seitan. The seitan is just so very tasty. Everything here, from the seitan, to the vegan cream cheese, is homemade. My husband gets the carrot lox sandwich which includes the housemade cream cheeze along with red onions, carrot lox, and more, on many choices of really excellent bread. Don't leave without getting a smoothie! I tend to get the Green Giant, but the Coco Loco is also really yummy. Eat in the back garden on a nice day!“

“Forin on Coral St is my favorite lil space. The baristas here are the coolest, most down-to-earth folks who know their stuff. (Shoutout to Gab & Caleb, but seriously everyone there is a gem.) It is one of the few multi-roasters in Philly, meaning they don’t just have coffee from one roaster so there’s always delicious variety in your coffee. Not to mention, their specialty drinks are home runs every time. There’s room to sit if you want to read or book, the atmosphere and aesthetics are charming if you want to stay and chat, and the community that surrounds it is filled with some lovely humans. Definitely recommend Forin to anyone who’ll listen.
