“Sorrento's is a casual BYOB with a diverse menu and very good food. They offer the best Southern Italian cuisine in the vicinity according to my taste buds. Maria's Ristorante in nearby Roxborough and From the Boot in Lafayette Hill provide good meals, as well, with a different rendition on most recipes. My favorites at Sorrento's include shrimp scampi, eggplant or chicken parm, spaghetti with Bolognese or white clam sauce, veal and chicken dishes, and scallops scampi. Their garlicky spinach is wonderful. Prices are appropriate based on quality and quantity. This family-operated restaurant provides meals without the fanfare, coziness or glitter of Fifth Avenue dining, so focus on the food and you will not be disappointed. Lastly, lots of private parking awaits you.“

“The best chicken salad. Ever. Also the best fries and the best milkshakes around. Can’t say enough about this place. The staff is friendly and attentive. The old building offers a nostalgic diner atmosphere. There are multiple seating area options for unique dining experiences from inside with booths and the counter surrounding a classic jukebox, to the quiet enclosed porch perfect for fall or spring days, to the lovely outside covered patio perfect for viewing down into Fairmount park on a warm summer afternoon. This place is the epitome of casual small-town-feel dining.“
“As someone who grew up in Lafayette Hill, Amici vicinato (formerly Tonelli's) is one of my all time favorite takeout spots. I've bounced around the menu and gotten the wraps (chicken alla mia is my favorite), hoagies (Italian is great), pizza, tenders, all of it. Never disappointed. Only real qualm is the parking situation when you pickup, but that's a small trade off for the great quality. 5/5“

“The service was phenomenal. The food, delicious. Best italian restaurant in Philly, the closest thing I've seen so far to an authentic italian restaurant in Philly (I stayed in Italy for 6 weeks). We got the tiramisu and gelato, and we got the carbonara and pappardelle al ragù. All of it was just so good. I wanna come back again, but I need to save up for it because it was very pricey. But worth it.“

“Ok so the cheesesteak is definitely than all other pizza shops. It’s about 11” meat is very juicy and flavorful with lots of melted creamy cheese and the onions were caramelized perfectly. I would absolutely give that steak sandwich a 20 out of 10“

“I enjoyed dining at Her Place, I definitely felt like I was having a meal in someone's home. The restaurant is tiny and every table has a view of the kitchen. I dined by myself so I was placed at one of the two window seats. My back was toward the kitchen and I had to turn around each time the chef was describing the dishes. The menu wasn't something I would have normally chosen for myself, it was very seafood focused but it was all around tasty. The main dish was a quail and morels. My favorites of the night were the chicken liver pate with radishes and homemade Ritz cracker. They really did taste like a Ritz but much elevated. My other favorite of the night was the dessert: the rhubarb, cream cheese semi freddo, and meringue was to absolutely die for. You could really taste the cream cheese. Also notable was the sauce Americaine in the quenelle/lobster dish, I wanted to scoop it up and lick the plate. I see people complaining how it wasn't enough food since you had to share, I didn't have this problem, as I was solo and was able to eat full plates of everything. I enjoyed the final touches at the end, giving out cookies and a bag of Chex Mix. Bravo. I'd maybe come back if I were to travel to Philadelphia again. $120 after tax and tip.“

“Cozy restaurant with a lot of energy. Hold off on eating the complementary bread because you'll need it for the outstanding mussel appetizer. Another must order is the orecchiette. One of the best pastas I've had in Philadelphia. The lamb shank was just ok. Unfortunately I just recently had it at another Philly restaurant and it was so much better. Barramundi which was a special was a huge disappointment. I've never seen so many things added to a fish dish to overwhelm what I consider to be an amazing fish. This is my second time at this restaurant where the entrees feel short. Stick to the appetizers and pastas. Service was outstanding.“

“The best pizza within 35 minutes of my residence! Great sauce, wonderful cheese, tasty crust. My only complaint is the thickness of the crust, it's too doughy/thick especially at the ends. Next time I order, I'm going to see if they can use medium size dough and stretch to a large pie.“

“I’ve heard about Fiorino for so long, especially from someone who lives in Florida! I finally went and it was all they said it would be! Absolutely delicious! I asked our server what entree I should get because I couldn’t decide between 2 of them that I wanted. He said “No problem! I’ll bring you a half portion of each!” WHO does that in today’s world?! So absolutely kind and cool. I loved every single thing I had there and can’t wait to go back!“

“I went for takeout for a quick lunch and was so impressed. I had their daily special cold sandwich which had mozzarella and mortadella with balsamic and a chocolate custard which was amazing. I showed up in the middle of lunch rush and didn’t have to wait long at all. Will definitely keep them in mind for sandwiches.“

“You know this place is popular when there are people waiting outside the door at 9am right before this place opens. It was my first time here and upon arriving, 2 people were waiting to get in and 3 more trickled in minutes later. A line started to form and people are trying to get the tomato pie. I place an order for the regular tomato pie a few days ago over the phone but when I went to pick it up they didn't have my name. Luckily they had extras so I didn't have to order another. My friends really enjoyed the tomato pie so it's definitely as good as people say. Just be sure to double check the day before if you placed an order with them.“

“Did the Porchetta dinner which you have to reserve ahead of time. It is a great value and lets you try a bit of everything. The Porchetta is served with tortilla like piadina which allows you to make the most wondrous little bites. Though called pork belly porchetta, this isn't some sort of unrendered fat glob that lesser restaurants sometimes serves. This is more like lightly cooked bacon that just slaps. If you have any self-control, try bringing some home for a crisped up porchetta and eggs breakfast.“

“Polite and professional staff. A great menu selection. When reserving a table, make sure you select a specific section of the restaurant. Nice portions for the entrees. Make sure you leave room for desert. On Sunday nights, they have a red sauce Sunday where menu items on the daily menu that usually do not have red sauce are served with red sauce. It is a nice touch.I will definitely be back.“

“Warm and friendly, relaxed atmosphere. George I’ll assume the owner/manager, came out and chatted with us. Shared the history and that everything is made fresh like in your own kitchen and the pasta is mass daily. Very very perfectly seasoned and moist, everything ♥️ Thank you George. Max & Gary.“

“Dinner, Saturday night. Begin with saying I think this is an excellent, authentic, under the radar classic Italian restaurant with a menu of the standard, classic dishes one would want without any unfamiliar or experimental flourishes. I had pasta puttanesca and honestly feel it's the best puttanesca I've ever had -- large caper berries, anchovies you couldn't see but definitely taste, rich tomato sauce -- really good. Wife had the veal milanese and, again, cooked to perfection, not breaded too heavily, fresh arugula. Calamari appetizer not overbreaded, nor overfried, nice mildly spicy sauce. The bread they serve with the meal -- an important, often overlooked item -- was high quality with thick crust, served with quality olive oil and canellini beans. The one miss of the entire meal was an appetizer they're supposedly known for -- Artichokes Core de Roma. Unfortunately, we found this tasteless. Literally without taste. With that one exception, we found everything about this restaurant high quality and will return.“

“Huge fan - their thin crust pizzas are my family’s favorite in the area. We also love the Nonna’s pie - square, but thinner crusted than a Sicilian pie with a excellent cheese blend and just a bit of heat/spice. Also, save room for the tiramisu - home made by Paola and seriously the best I’ve ever had!“

“Food is really good I got the fettuccine Alfredo, I got a small pizza half pep that they forgot to deliver with door dash. And a cake … my dasher went out of his way to go all the way back to the store which he didn’t have to do. But a hour later we received the pizza cold as ever but it was still good. I just wish the pizza store would have cooked us a fresh pizza since they forgot to give it to the dasher. But other then that I will be back in person for more food“

“Visiting Philadelphia over Easter. Ended up at Prunella Sunday afternoon. The Honey Fitzgerald cocktail was amazing! Ordered the Caesar salad which was a great surprise to the tastebuds, and the pizza was just so damn delicious. The service and atmosphere was perfect. Had dinner the previous evening at The Capital Grille, but I enjoyed Prunella for the casual feel and experience we had. Prunella will be first on my list when visiting Philadelphia next. I just loved everything about it!“

“In tonight again after some time away, sitting at the bar, Elvis the host offered a warm friendly greeting at the door. On Friday night Andy is bartending, friendly and great service. The location is excellent in the 1400 block of Chestnut in Center City Philadelphia. Just around the corner from mass transit, city hall and many things you will enjoy, It's connected to the W Hotel. The dining room is comfortable but the music is sometimes loud and generic like elevator music. On a Sunday morning Joseph G. was my server and he too was friendly and attentive, there were very few customers in. The menu is limited but you will find something for everyone. For Dinner on Friday I had Risotto with butternut squash, it was good, not strong flavor of the squash. On Saturday I enjoyed the meatballs, they were delicious and full of flavor. I have heard a number of guests mention how they look forward to coming to Philly end enjoying their meatballs. Multiple nights I enjoyed the TORTA AL CIOCCOLATO it is covered in chocolate ganache, comes with pistachio crumbles and pistachio gelato. This is in my opinion, the BEST dessert in Philadelphia. The staff from the door to the bar to the dining room and management is excellent, focused on your individual experience making every visit memorable and a special occasion.“
