“I had an amazing trip to Philadelphia for the first time. To end the trip I decided to have dessert at Sweer T's bakery. The owner was very friendly and give me the history of the bakery and gaining access to the crowds at Reading Terminal. My favorite pie has always been the sweet potato pie. I tried his pie and quickly realized he added a twist to the pie I'm use to eating. His crust was made from graham crackers, though different it added to the amazing taste of the pie. I'm sure the rest of the desserts are also amazing. If you are in the Philadelphia area, you must give this place a try.“
“I lived in Seattle for almost two decades and will admit to being a bit of a coffee shop snob. The Nook hits so many of my high points. Extremely good locally roasted coffee (in-house!). Amazing baked goods. The cocoa coffee bread must be tried, but leave me a slice! Great staff. If I ever move out of the neighborhood, I'll journey to the Nook for a great cup and bite.“
“I’m obsessed! Found this bakery on too good to go & took a ride over (from jersey) I came home with 4 different flavors of the banana pudding & my 16 year old and I tried each one. I can’t even pick a favorite because they are all so good. The Magic flavor name makes complete sense when you take a bite because different flavors seem to magically appear in your mouth (peanut butter being the last to hit…) hard to explain but if you taste it, it will make sense! I got 2 large puddings in my order than bought 2 different small ones in different flavors & i regret not getting the 2 extra cups in large! Driving in Philly stresses me out but I’ve never wanted to drive back over there so bad! For more pudding! I will be recommending this bake shop to everyone! The guy behind the counter was super nice & welcoming and helped me pick out some favorites. It’s a nice Friendly shop with amazing puddings & I will definitely be back!“
“First of all--I'm glad to be introduced to another Black owned bakery! And the customer service is great. My aunt located this place when looking for treats for my grandma's bday. Everything was delicious and were a hit with the family, including the cookies. They really have too many cupcake options to choose from ?. I recently stopped by and tried the delicious sweet potato & strawberry shortcake cupcakes. I also have tried the Oreo and Turkey Bacon ones, which were good, too. I'm literally sad it's a Monday and can't wait until Wednesday to visit.“
“I can't say enough good things about Meg and her work! She was absolutely fabulous to work with for my geeky 1950’s wedding. She was sweet, professional, and up to whatever challenge I could throw at her. From start to finish she was amazing to work with, our trial was delicious and we spent months anticipating getting to taste the amazing cake again. On our wedding day I was so excited to see our Doctor Who themed cake and cup cakes, it was more then I could have ever imagined it to be. All night people commented on the design of the cake, and once it was cut people commented on the taste. I am so glad I was able to save a few cup cakes to take home, I’m not sure we would make it a year to taste the cake again. Seriously if you want a fun and beautiful cake that taste AMAZING as well you need to call Meg“
“So excited to have a bakery in such a convenient location. No parking problem and always can get a sit there. All deserts are high quality once. Everything with got was literally melting on a mouth. Looking forward to go back there again and again.“
“Such a great place! I went a few months ago and things were good but OH MY!! I went again today and everything was AMAZING! We were one of the first people in shop and the selection was actually overwhelming! So many options and everything has been great so far. I’m actually a vegan bakery owner myself BUT when traveling love to try other treats & I was super happy about all the treats. Also, the staff working was super friendly, helpful and just overall great to chat with. I immediately texted a fellow vegan friend and sanctuary owner about my experience and what treats I grabbed so he knows to stop next time he’s in the area as well! ❤️❤️“
“I'm very picky with desserts. I bake my own goodies at home because store bought never meets my expectations. I tried the lemon meringue cupcake. It was a perfect combination of flavors. The lemon curd was tart and sweet. The buttercream was smooth and delicate. I got the pecan cheese cake for my husband and he said it was the best cheese cake he's ever had.. which made me a little jealous because I have made him cheesecake for years lol. I will be coming back again soon!“
“whenever I am in Chestnut Hill I always say that I am going to try this restaurant. Well today I did and It did not disappoint OMG…. The restaurant is quaint and cute. The service was excellent and the food was very good. I ordered the broccoli quiche with turkey bacon on the side. That quiche is like none I have ever tasted, flaky crust and the filling reminded me of soufflé but much taster. I also brought 2 cups cakes carrot and coconut to go. I’m sure they are just as good. I can’t wait to go back because I hear there is a different quiche each week. This is my new breakfast place for sure.“
“First time trying this place out. Must pickup from the window as the entrance is closed off. and eating it seems homemade. The heart cookies were sweet but just missing that certain someone to share them with. One of the macaroons was off kilter appearance wise but food wise- I mean it's TooGoodToGo. The taste is fine. Nothing like when Miel existed or the one off of Race St. if it is still there, probably French exquisite in those places. Staff is friendly. The custard like dessert was flavorful and I have no idea what this mash was besides edible and delicious! A local shop a tourist probably won't hit unless they are using TooGoodToGo or reading this review by chance, then maybe.“
“I placed an order for a bowtie cake which I was hoping would not be impossible to make but Tyisha did an excellent job with the design. Not to mention the moisture and flavor of the cake and fondant was superb. I will order her cakes for any occasion. Makes me eager to have potlucks at work and refer her to my friends, family and coworkers.“
“I did not even eat the cupcakes at Sweet Box Cupcakes and now I feel...foolish. However, I did try nearly everything else! Bring on the 5 star chocolate chip cookie (cakie, flakey salts, ribbons of chocolate), edible frozen cookie dough (goodbye my lover goodbye my friend I ate you for basically every meal across two days) and the amazing dirty jawn which is a brookie oreo creation (that I initially said I'd "freeze for later" but ended up eating much of...then ultimately throwing away because I feared it's power over me...you win this time, Dirty Jawn). Okay so now that that's out of the way, service here is amazing and I honestly didn't think prices were that bad, though I may be in the minority. The dough was only like $6 and you can't find that price in a grocery store so...support local for your edible raw dough needs. The service and vibes here are both excellent and it's hard to imagine going anywhere else for a sweet treat. Excited to grab treats for visitors and stop by anytime I find myself on that side of Broad.“
“I stopped in the market this past Sunday and I came across this bakery by chance. The display caught my eye and I decided take a look and ended up ordering whoopie pies, lemon bars and butter cake. All three were AMAZING! I will definitely be making this a new stop when I am in the city!!“
“We ordered custom cookies in the likeness of our daughter’s dogs for a party. These doggie cookies were the hit of the party! Not only did the coolies look exactly like the dogs, somehow their personally was also captured! The cookies tasted delicious as well as looking great! I Would highly recommend this bakery! We used the Fish Town location.“
“There are not enough good things to say about Cathryn’s. My twin sister told me about the bakery. It truly feels like family every time I visit. They know which twin is which by now (LOL). I have referred family and friends to Cathryn’s. In fact, the last time I visited, I went to an event later that evening saw one of their cakes at my friend’s event. Professional representation always and wonderful aesthetic. And I agree with the comment regarding the packaging: very polished down to the details. They make Philadelphia proud!“
“When I say this place is Heaven sent, the cake got purchased was absolutely divine and the customers service I received was outstanding. The two young ladies working the counter were friendly, helpful and so pleasant and a ray of sunshine. This is definitely my new bakery.. Thanks for GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE“
“202403/04I don't know what their vegan lox is made of but it is freaking delicious and I'm positive if I just handed the lox of love to someone on the street they would NOT be able to tell the whole thing is meatless. It was so darn good!! Also tried their pistachio rose cookie and jasmine peach scone in March and they were delicious as well! Our forever favorite neighborhood spot!202302Today I tried cheesesteak and Phillywide (sausage egg and cheese sandwich), both are vegan! Cheesesteak $14 is made with black bird seitan. It tastes like chicken at first glance, but it looks like gluten when you eat it seriously, but overall it’s delicious.Phillywide $12 It’s delicious with beyond sausage and the eggs are pretty real too!202209There are no bakeries in this area. This opening makes me grizzly excited!I didn’t look at the details carefully, but buying two scones, two muffins, a biscuit sandwich and two bagels totaled $23, which I thought was a good deal! There are also many types of pastries and bagels. Many of the items are vegan. I really like them. The pastries are delicious. Everything and the salt+rosemary bagels taste a little salty to me.“
