“It is hard to articulate the artistry that went into the creation of my very special birthday cake but the Night Kitchen Bakery did it. I had a special birthday this year and some great friends were flying in to help me celebrate. I had traveled with these friends and had many wild experiences, one of which was a very specific picture this fantastic bakery not only replicated flawlessly but made it oh so much better. Yes the cake photo attached is a cake - a DELICIOUS mocha cake that was as good as the artistry was on the outside. If you want a delicious cake, they're the place to go to. And if you want something out of the park special to complement that delicious cake, there is no other choice that Night Kitchen Bakery. Thank you so so much!”

“We finally stopped by in the afternoon one day to grab a quick late brunch, and really enjoyed our experience! The cafe was really bustling and busy, obviously a local favorite. I had the bananas fosters crepe and it was amazing, truly recommend ordering it and getting a side of home fries. My husband had a breakfast sandwich and he loved it! The service was fast and the owner even came by to check on everyone in the cafe, bringing a cannoli (which was amazing) for each table. So glad we stopped by finally!”

“We came here during restaurant week, and the servings are just enough for each member of the group to try. This restaurant serves great food that makes you want to appreciate every bite. Sampan is linked, and this location is typically busy. Since the dining room was downstairs, there was a kind of nice corridor leading to it. You and your group can choose from a small variety of dishes to share at the table during restaurant week, with some items having an additional fee. There was a stronger romantic vibe. Here, the Kobe beef is a great choice.”

“With an ever-changing menu, I know that no matter what vegan dish I order from Primary it’s always going to be exciting and delicious. Many of the dishes have kept me up at night from the french toast to the cheesesteak and the jackfruit medianoche.Chef Mark has always been hospitable and attentive, and you can tell how much passion he has for his plates and his community. This restaurant is truly a gem in Philly and the team behind its magic deserve all the success. If you’re looking for a place to try, you cannot go wrong by visiting Primary.”

“I've been here a few times, it's a fun place to bring people because of the whole speakeasy vibe. They don't take reservations so it's hit or miss if you can actually get in. Drinks are hit or miss for me too. Over time I've done drinks from the menu and the bartenders choice. I know it sounds silly but I really dislike the ice they use! It's like ice chips which cheapens the drinks, which seems to go against the suave swanky vibe. I got the pickle mule this time though and really liked it.”

“Having grown up with Texas breakfast tacos I was excited to see a spot in Philly to create what I was missing from home. Bfast taco was good, flavor was def there. A bit on the pricier end for a breakfast taco, even with a homemade tortilla. Was hoping all salsas were given out as well, tried the guaijlo , had good flavor. Not sure if I’ll be a reg just because they’re pricey. But I do appreciate what they are bringing to Philly.”

“Pretty good experience! There was a little bit of a mix up with what we ordered but they instantly took care of it and got us the rest of our food. Some of the food was hit or miss. The broll, Bloc party, Hijiki, and e I shumai was great but I didn't really like the chashu because it was a bit gummy and the wings were not my favorite. But other than that, it was all great. I will definitely come back soon to try more things :)”

Flavors were amazing. I love seeing the reactions of the other patrons as the eat the courses! Will definitely be back many time hopefully. Well worth the drive great neighborhood ample parking. Beware of the non descript building.At $158 you will be very satisfied with every bite. The ala carte menu has some great add ins priced accordingly 20-38$. “The only Thai place I will order from in the entire Philadelphia vicinity. The best staff. The best food. The best experience. I will forever give JJ Thai my business and always recommend them to friends & family. By the way, if your server is Air, be prepared because she is the absolute best server I have came across in any restaurant. I worked in the service industry myself, and to come across someone like Air is truly a blessing. She is so friendly, goes above and beyond, and always ensures the best customer service. Additionally, my chicken parm did not come with a side of pasta, which is fine, but I didn’t know that and I wasn’t even asked if I’d like to add it for an additional fee. I feel like that should have been communicated a little more clearly.”

“Absolutely loved the Sundae. Potato chips and kettle corn must be in all of my sundaes going forward. The latkes were phenomenal - must order. The harissa broccoli was delish. The burrata and focaccia was a delightful favourite.The Caesar salad was overdressed and the croutons were too hard for my preference. The pepperoni pasta was exactly that - not the worst but it was something I'd make drunk in my kitchen at 3 am. Fries were meh.A solid 4 on the food front. Go just for the decor alone, feeling like I was in an 80s golf clubhouse. The pool table is cute and fun too.”

“This is the second year in a row that my DAR group held our Women's History themed tea at Elwood. Stellar service, I tried things I never normally would like the scrapple (not a fan of it generally), it was a little piece of heaven! All the food is small bites for tea service. The chicken salad on a mini croissant ?. The biscuits, clotted cream, strawberry jam made by the owner's mother! Absolutely scrumptious!!!”

“An exceptional dinning experience, but getting in is a bit tricky. The restaurant opens advanced online bookings in intervals of two week blocks, on the Sunday prior. There are two seatings each night, 6:30pm and 8:30pm. If you can’t get a reservation for the released block time, you can request to be added to the wait list. That’s exactly how I received my dinning spot. The experience is intimate, warm and friendly. It truly is like being invited to a friend’s house for dinner, except your friend won’t be serving you these yummy dishes. The food creations are amazing and the courses numerous. The chef announces each dish before it’s served, explaining the ingredients and inspiration. They also provide an extensive wine list and delicious craft cocktails. Highly recommend!”

“I have only good things to say about this place. I thought at first it was a little odd to have steak tartar served with fries but the pairing was actually really good! Everything was amazing. I have never had such a complex gnocci dish and it's probably the best I've ever had. The scallops were perfect. Mussels, snails... all of it. “If you haven't stopped to check it out, it's about time! A lot of homemade foods but their homemade honey cake (medovik) is over the top! They have regular, coconut and chocolate varieties and they are all to die for! The meat is halal and it is so fresh- they have every day deliveries. Order what you need and the butcher cuts it in front of you! Excellent Uzbek vibe - both in the store and the restaurant. Recommend!”

“Chewys was the perfect choice for our wedding dinner. Our site was in Philly park that had no catering kitchen or amenities.During our tasting, he gave us two boxes to take home. There was too much for the two of us, so I dropped off one box with our friends. When I called the next day to ask my friend's girlfriend how it was, she responded, "I don't know, he inhaled it before I could try it." We were sold after that.They were super friendly and provided lightning-fast service during the meal. Their ability to serve the hungry crowd without sacrificing quality or hospitality was truly impressive. Our guests were delighted and many went back to try other options on the menu. I have one uncle-in-law that said he went back to try everything.We recently learned that Chewys is opening up their own brick&mortar restaurant soon. I can't wait to go visit.”

“An authentic small business in the heart of chinatown. Walking in, there was a lady who was making wontons but also taking orders at the same time. I ordered a wonton soup, fried taro, and hot peanut noodles. All of them were delicious and very homey. The wontons were light and delicate with a thin wrapping. The fried taro was a little bit too oily and heavy for my taste, though also very tasty. My favorite were definitely the hot noodles. It's clear that the noodles were made from scratch and the peanut sauce was light and complimented it well. I will definitely be returning for more of their nostalgic food!”

Oregon steaks is the best sandwich spot in the whole city. And I say sandwich spot, not steak spot because as immaculate as their steaks are, their roast pork and Italian beef are somehow even better. It’s hard to top perfection! The meat is fresh, the rolls are crisp, and they’re always open. Since I fell in love with this place a while back, I’ve refused to get a cheesesteak anywhere besides here or my own kitchen. Shieeet every time I’m here I have to get at least 2 sandwiches. This place is the definition of Philly cuisine. Go birds!”

They have this stated on their website, but not on the physical menu so some of our party was not aware.This would have been a 5-star visit had it not been for the seating arrangement and for what happened at the end of the visit. To give some context, we made a reservation in advance for our party, and you would think that for an advance reservation they would take care with the seating. I was not satisfied with where we were seated - our table and seats were cramped, and there was a table right next to us that could accommodate us better. Our table felt really enclosed, practically holed between 3 sides of walls. We thought the table next to us was perhaps booked for another party and that is why they didn’t seat us there. No. We were wrong. For the entire duration, no one was seated at the table next to us, so I don’t understand why we couldn’t sit there. We would have been more comfortable there. Oh well, nice to know for next time.At the end of our dinner, we had given the server our cards to pay for the check, and while we were waiting for our cards, a guy came over (probably the manager), and basically was ushering us out. Although he was being polite about it, it still soured the taste because of course we will leave after we get our cards back. Shouldn’t he have checked with the server about the status of the table before coming to us and tell us that they need to clean the table for the next group and we need to leave? He said it more diplomatically, but basically using the same words here. It left us a bit shocked because we were ready to leave, just waiting for our cards.”

“Had a truly delightful meal here! Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The hummus was spectacular. The Brussel sprouts were SO crispy, some of the best I've ever had. I really enjoyed the chicken shish I got for my entrée. My mom got the falafel and said it was delicious.Highly recommend making a reservation. This place gets busy, quickly. Several folks had to be turned away because they didn't have one. And this was on a Thursday night.”

“I hosted my 30th birthday at Jet back in November 2023. The service was extraordinary. From the start, communication with Jet was timely, helpful, and easy. Emily, the manager, was a delight to work with and even made little menus for my guests. The bar packages were extremely reasonable and I was allowed to bring in my own decor and birthday cake. We selected the drink package with a signature drink and the red wine mule was DELICIOUS. The snacks were a hit and everyone really enjoyed the drink options. Adam, our bartender for the night, was so friendly and helpful! I can't say enough about how wonderful Jet is, and I'm so glad we have such a great local spot close-by.My husband and I are also members of the wine club at Jet and they have such a fun wine selection and newsletter. Jet regularly hosts creative events and are such a benefit to the neighborhood.”

“We have been getting take out from here for years but never sat inside to eat. We decided for our 1 year wedding anniversary that we would go here and it did not disappoint! We have always called the gnocchi "pillows of heaven." They are the absolute best! We also had the lamb which just fell off the bone and was so tender. And we definitely recommend the buratta for a starter. You can tell that everything is homemade including the bread. The service is also stellar! The staff is so attentive and so nice. “The service was excellent. The food was also good, we enjoyed the tasting menu which had some surprising dishes such as the carrot & egg custard. The bread and nduja was also a nice addition. However, we spent over $800 between the two of us with tips included (with the tasting menu priced at $215) which I think is way too overpriced. The wines especially are overpriced, for 150pp I would expect more upscale wines than what was on offered. We ended up going with a Barolo instead which was more reasonable but still $170 for a bottle. For these prices, I would expect Michelin 1 or 2 star quality food, which it wasn't (as nice as our meal was). That said, the service was really good with our waiter being extremely attentive and considerate.”

But the real standout for us is that they will make modifications based on dietary restrictions. My wife is pescatarian, and so we are often at the mercy of restaurants with this format. The owner was very friendly and give me the history of the bakery and gaining access to the crowds at Reading Terminal. My favorite pie has always been the sweet potato pie. I tried his pie and quickly realized he added a twist to the pie I'm use to eating. His crust was made from graham crackers, though different it added to the amazing taste of the pie. “We had a wonderful experience.  I read an article about its opening  in December and was intrigued, so I made reservations for my birthday in March.We arrived about 20 minutes early for our seating (minimum required is 10 minutes early).  When we entered we were greeted very warmly.  The space is very serene and inviting, soft lights and very intimate. We were invited to have a seat in the lounge area and were each given a lovely complimentary mocktail and encouraged to relax for the short wait until our 8pm seating.We are new to Omakase. The concept and flow was explained to us in detail as well as how certain types of sushi are meant to be enjoyed (i.e., nigiri is a single bite of balanced flavors and you pick it up with your fingers).  The education ahead of time was super helpful. I did not know this. The evening was a beautiful presentation of courses, carefully prepared and explained. Each piece of sushi had a unique flavor, which I believe is due to the high quality of fish and the perfect balance of wasabi and sushi rice.  The fish was so fresh and flavorful and not what you typically experience when you go for sushi, even in upscale establishments. Most of the fish I was trying for the first time  - some from Japan, some from Spain and other regions.  All wonderful!We ordered the sake and whiskey pairing, each drink chosen to match the specific dish. We were given the origin and tasting notes of each, which really helped educate us for the future.  I thought I didn't like sake, but now I have three bottles on my "to purchase" list.The service was very attentive without being intrusive. Potatoes were also excellent with some peppers thrown in for good measure. It was so hard deciding what to get because honestly everything, especially the savory dishes, looked fantastic.
