Workmen's Cafe Reviews
The food is amazing. It was one of the best southern meals I've ever eaten.
I love everything about this place except that it's not open 24 hours a day seven days a week and doesn't deliver to Western North Carolina. (I'm kidding about that last part.) Ms. Angie is a community gem, and she serves up delicious, affordable, creative food. James Island is so lucky to have her and the Workmen's Cafe'. Unfortunately, I live five hours away and can't eat here as much as I'd like to.
Great food! Always a great lunch

Workmen's Cafe is a hidden gem serving delicious soul food like fried chicken, baked chicken, and pork chops with assorted sides. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff create a welcoming environment. The fried chicken plate with mashed potatoes and gravy is a standout dish, surpassing expectations and offering a must-try experience for any foodie. The restaurant is clean, inexpensive, and filling, making it a great choice for a tasty meal that won't break the bank. It’s a no-nonsense spot where everyone is made to feel welcome, and the food is authentic Southern dishes, including some of the best fried chicken and mac and cheese around. The place is wheelchair accessible, and the simple, comfort soul food is prepared with care. Visitors can enjoy a great meal that feels like home, in Charleston.
