“I forgot to take pictures, as a matter of fact, it is better not to take pictures because the place has the vibe that makes you live the moment. The guy playing music had a nice repertoire from 70s to 90s, good sound and acoustic. The drinks were on top of the best. We recommend that coffee martini. I went with the beer. Start with the board, the manchego cheese was on point. I recommend the ribeye, the potatoes were very tasty. Now I know where to go for an anniversary. It worth the experience. Just a tip, make a reservation.”

“The food and service are relatively good however the drink prices are ridiculous. A tea bag costs 4 cents and they charge $3.50 for a hot tea. A normal price at most places is $2.50 or less. I only get water when I go now.”

“Passing through town and had to check this place out especially for the new pinball machine “Jaws”. The BLT I had with their in house made bread was fantastic along with a wonderful beer selection. They also have many craft can beers for purchase, wish I had taken the time to check them out. Looking forward to sporting my t-shirt I purchased.”

“My wife and I haven’t come to Liberty in months due to poor service and food quality.
However we recently decided to give them another shot and do glad we did.
Our recent visits have resulted in an impressive turnaround in both service and food quality. Our neighbors in Chapin have expressed their overwhelming satisfaction with the operation at the Liberty as well.
I recently was so impressed with the turnaround that I called the manager ( Miss G ) over to thank her for her successful efforts to change the culture at the Liberty.
She checks on her customers satisfaction regularly, does a great job of overseeing her staff and I seen her cleaning tables, relocating high chairs etc. Miss G has an exceptional work ethic and it is reflected in the outstanding turnaround of the business.
The company made a great hire with Miss G!!!

“They’re are fast, fast, FAST! The young woman at the counter was so sweet and the second I told her my order she got it out in a blink of an eye and was so nice. “This ain't no Pepperidge Farm commercial, but I remember Sunday supper at the cafe in the town where my Momma was born and raised in the Carolina pines. I done gone to Texas nigh bout 40 years ago.

tldr; flounder, chicken fried steak, banana pudding, collards.

Eating at the Lizard's Thicket tonight brought back all the memories. Kimmie was sweeter than the tea, which coincidentally was the best I've had in years. The fried flounder was so good and crisp and crunchy, I skipped the knife and fork. THEY HAVE REAL COLLARDS!! The black eyed peas were perfect.

Momma hasn't been eating as much but she cleared the plate of chicken fried steak and rice and gravy. Y'all ... the white pepper gravy was not from a mix. Cornbread was just right and not sweet. The tea, by the way, was so good. It tasted different from what I'm used to in Texas - stronger, but not dark or bitter.

The staff were wonderful. Learned a little about the history and the family that started it, so be sure to ask about the decorative plates. There's a family story in those decorations. Everyone was so nice and helpful; it really was a family atmosphere.

I'll have to update this once I eat the blackberry cobbler. Was too full to eat it there. Mom also got a banana pudding to go.

(Update: the blackberry cobbler was great, but the banana pudding was awesome! We went back several times and tried different desserts... but I would recommend the banana pudding over everything else. The pecan pie was great too but I'll miss the 'naner pudding the most.)

We will be back and will make this a regular stop on our trip to Columbia.

It's not a happy trip for us, as we're making some difficult decisions, but thanks to Kimmie and Lizard's Thicket, Momma and I shared memories of home and remembered what real Southern cooking should be.

“I had what I think was called a chicken Philly hoagie. With the crinkle cut fries. It was great! And the crinkle cup fries were all nice and crispy and not soggy. I was by myself, so I sat at the bar. The bartender / waitress was Maura. She was great with the customers and a great waitress.

“Great atmosphere at this family-friendly favorite in Irmo! We always love to come here for the excellent always fresh food and for the overall experience. Every employee in the store not only greeted us with the famous “welcome to Moe’s” but we had genuine conversations with almost every employee there. The guys fixing our food were friendly and funny, the cashier was sweet and outgoing, and the manager even came by our table to make sure that our dining experience was satisfactory. We couldn’t have had a better experience.”

“We ordered take out tonight and let me just say it was delicious. The portions were large and cooked to perfection. The veggies were fresh and although some people do not like the veggies cut so large, I think they are perfect. Egg rolls were scrumptious and large . We had soup which was still piping hot when arriving home, house fried rice was perfection. Plenty of leftovers. Love, love, love .”

“Our employee Christmas party last Saturday was catered by Cox Family BBQ, and it was absolutely wonderful! Their food truck has been a staple at our community events for a few years, consistently delivering delicious BBQ pork and chicken that never disappoints. This time, for our Christmas party, we opted for BBQ Pork as well as we wanted to try the Turkey, and it was AMAZING! Thank you, Cox Family BBQ, for helping make our Employee Christmas Party Great! “Ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhkay. I just had the best sample of a pumpkin spice latte ever. Ever. A young gal was handing out samples. I walked to my car and drank it. I’m about to walk back in and buy a big size. I’m not lying. It was the best from Starbucks I’ve ever had. Angel made the samples. Gal knows what she’s doing. Give her more responsibility. She has a gift of customer interaction and professionalism. This is coming from someone who purchases local roast herself and typically makes it at home with her Rocket espresso machine. It was GOOD.”

“Used to come here every two weeks because of a DSS case. Staff were friendly and accommodating to my specific needs of needing to eat and be parked on property for a few hours.”

“There food truck was at Bruzze Brewery on Lake Oconee. We were there when they opened at 4pm. The service was great and the food was outstanding. My wife got the lobster roll. I got the tacos. My wife is from New England. We also got some of their clam chowder and she says it was the best she had ever had. It only took us about five minutes to get our order after we placed it in the staff was so pleasant to communicate with.”

“Great restaurant and service was incredible. We had to have a gluten free sandwich made and the staff went over and beyond to make sure the machine and equipment was properly cleaned and maintained so that it would be safe for us. Very grateful for them!
