“I call this spot a brunch gem. I met a longtime friend for Sunday church and chose to come here for a meal to catch up. The place was busy and loud. There are a lot of hotels nearby and I wonder how many guests are here for the Phil Wickham concert. Order your bowl at the counter and the kitchen will call your order number when your food's ready. When we got our bowls I can tell this place honors the Southern way of dining. Take your time and let your meal fill your empty stomach. I'd take this over any hotel breakfast. I didn't have to eat again until the next morning.“

“Omg! The food was absolutely amazing. Between my party we tried the Kalbi, Yakisobas, Tanmen and Miles Stir Fry for entrees and they all were amazing. Also can't forget the honey toast red bean ice cream. Delicious! Our server Kiara was fabulous and Red the chef was great. Just come here and try it, you won't regret it.“

“We have been excited to try this restaurant. The service was very good and it was not too crowded like everything else in North Charleston. My wife had a wrap and enjoyed it. I got the burger with an egg on it. It could have been good but the egg was already broken leaving the bottom bun soggy ??. And then I ordered medium well and it came out medium rare. I actually did not even eat but half due to this. We are not ones to complain but I do give very unbiased reviews. I think this place has a lot of potential and I am chalking up my burger as a mistake. Maybe try them out.“

“Istanbul Shish Kabob knocked it out of the park today. A little bit of background I lived in Turkey for 2.5yrs, and they took me right back with a specialty item named Chicken Tava (special order, not on the menu). I had him make both chicken and shrimp. I haven't had it in 22 years! I am impressed with the tastes and customer service here. They are top-notch. If you haven't had this dish, you are missing out on one of Turkey's greatest dishes, in my opinion. My family loved everything from the Tava to the kebabs, fries, fresh hot Pita bread, garlic sauce, and falafel. We will 100% go back and eat there. Fresh food with great taste! My kids said you get 10 stars!“

“I've been wanting to try it here for a while, it's five minutes from my house and it gets really good reviews! I started with a Thai iced coffee, chicken satay, basil rolls, and my girlfriend ordered the fried spring rolls. All were really good! The Thai coffee in particular was a standout. For entrees, I had the chicken pad prik and she had the chicken pad Thai. We both really liked our food! Hers was a lot more sweet than other pad Thai's I have had. The server was very friendly and helpful, but I had to remove a star for how slowly food came out. It took something like 30 minutes for our appetizers to completely come out, we were getting one dish at a time. Inside, the place is a bit run down, but it's still friendly and it wasn't dirty or anything, just looked like they needed to put some real time and effort into fixing some stuff up. That said, the price was right and we got a lot of food for a fair amount of money, and we really enjoyed it! J.Ja“

“It is a dated building that offers little in the way of ambiance, but those searching for food will get something that Charleston isn't particularly known for. I was lured by the promise of a masala dosa, a savory crepe that isn't easy to find. Theirs was done right, with a notable sourness (the dough is lightly fermented), some red pepper along with the potato filling, and sides full of things like curry leaves and drumstick plants. Ordering their house special samosa chaat yielded a dynamic flavor experience as well. I was stuffed, and I definitely got plenty of salt, but this was some good quality food. A small grocery store with archetypical Indian brands was at the entrance; I didn't have any needs at the time but this business model always made sense to me and I would say it's worth stopping in as I don't think there are any big Indian grocers in Charleston.“

He was very sweet and constantly checked back to make sure all was great. Inside bit rundown and dreary but clean. I ordered an omelette. Not what I was expecting. Flavor was great but it was flat...sort of looked like a tostada. The herb toast was fantastic. I could have eaten an entire loaf. They have daily specials. Friend got triple berry french toast. “I stopped by for a quick work lunch after searching on Yelp. Plenty of street parking. Short line inside, looked like a blue collar kinda place. Walk up to the counter and there's a steam table full of meat and beans. I ordered the Carne Asada Special burrito. It was full of meat, beans, rice, and guac. Very friendly counter service. Prices are decent and your order is made quickly. They dumped a scoop of chips in my bag... a little grease on the paper bag never hurt anyone! Salsa is nice and spicy. And don't sleep on the other many pastries they have there including homemade pop tarts and their homemade ho-ho's And the shop itself is cute with room to eat in if you prefer. They also have an amazing plant shop, so u can get donuts and a new plant to take home! If you go at peak times in the morning you may have a wait, but it's totally worth it! They also have specialty coffees and drinks, but I'm really just there for the bakery“

“This place is definitely an experience. You can tell the building wasn't originally designed for a KBBQ restaurant. When you first walk inside, it looks more like a nightclub than a sit-down restaurant.Good:843 has the highest quality and best flavored meats I've experienced at an AYCE KBBQ and I've been to several. Getting the premium AYCE menu is soooo worth it! Scallops are a rare option at AYCE and that alone makes it worth the price compared to just a seafood restaurant. All of the food and appetizers were amazing though. A lot of different options and even a large menu of a la carte items if you want more variety.Bad:Charging extra for rice at an AYCE is insane! They wanted $5 for a bowl of plain white rice which is unheard of for me. Any Korean restaurant I've been to will pretty much give you rice for free with your meal. Lettuce wraps were extra as well but other KBBQs charge for that too sometimes so that's not as egregious.Service was also slow but they did appear to be short staffed. It took about 15 minutes just to be seated and the restaurant was nearly empty. This didn't negatively contribute to my score though as the staff was pleasant the entire time so I could overlook that.Overall, I had a great time and would definitely consider 843 next time I'm in the area!“

“I came here with my dad a couple weeks ago. The food was absolutely delicious, with large portions and not too pricy. However, there was only one woman working so the service was very slow. The restaurant was fairly busy as it was a Saturday night, but it took over 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and my meal came out about 20 minutes after my dad's food arrived. It took another 20 minutes of waiting after we finished to figure out if the server would bring us the check or if we had to walk up to pay. The food was so good that I'll be back, and the server was friendly despite service being slow so ultimately I'll give it 4 stars, but I know next time to plan 2 hours for dinner“
“We tried these at the Mt. Pleasant Farmers Market. The gentleman selling them was talkative ans very kind, asking us questions about your lives and sharing about Charleston cuisine. The peanuts are soft and delicious. We love the Cajun the best because they have a kick, but if you don't like spicy, regular is the better option. We will try the garlic next time because they looked great too!“

“Chinese is my go-to comfort cuisine as I love the pastas, meats, dim sum, rice all with interesting and unique combinations. The trouble with being a bad food junkie is I've been hooked on certain aspects and my palate isn't happy until that craving has been satisfied. Just like America where you have regional delicacies like Southern shrimp and grits, Pennsylvania scrapple and northeastern lobster rolls for instance, China also has food that is very regionalized. Therein lies some of my issues locating my favorite dishes but when I do it can be a very rewarding experience. I've lived in 5 states within 20 years, and I'm a former chef. I say that to quantify the following, I've had some bad, Americanized and generic Chinese food. To the point it's almost as if most restaurants buy frozen food, throw it in a pan, not a wok, and serve it. However, when I find a restaurant that's authentic and makes a true effort, I'm hooked, which leads me to this review of The Taste of Asia Bistro. I thoroughly scanned all the Chinese and Asian restaurants in the greater Summerville area until finally I found something that's difficult to find - Beef Chow Fun which originated from Guagzhou in the south of China. That was the catalyst in my decision to select this restaurant. I was in town visiting so I was picking up not dining in. The restaurant itself is very easy to access however I can imagine parking might be difficult at busier times. Walking up was deceiving as it looked like a dainty and timid establishment devoid of traditional Chinese themes like hard red colors, Buda sitting somewhere, paper balloons you get the idea. Instead, the tables & chairs are dark & tan wood with the walls hiding recessed lighting enhancing three tones while some have a large leaf patterns or spirals. It's a very low-key vibe inviting soothing energy. Immediately in front is the well-stocked bar and a hostess station with some of the nicest employees I've ever meet. I believe the older lady was the owner and as sweet as could be. To quote Sun Tzu "Great results can be achieved with small forces" which sets the table (pardon the pun) for the star of the show. My mother was driving so I got an appetizer of shrimp tempura. Bare in mind tempura is more delicate than "fried shrimp" and they knocked it out the park. The shrimp were large, perfectly battered, airy, crispy and not greasy at all. They gave us a sauce but honestly my mother and I each ate three before we got home. They're that good. The spring rolls were extremely satisfying as well. While I love egg rolls I'm not a fan of all the excess dough, which is why fried spring rolls, which are wrapped in a thin rice paper can be more balanced. The stuffing was almost great but I would have preferred my filling to be "al dente" which means it has a slight crunch to it. Almost perfect. Lets talk the stars of the show, the dinners. As I alluded to earlier some dishes can be difficult to find like Beef Chow Fun as 90% of Chinese restaurants don't serve it. So, when I opened up the container, I was immediately ecstatic as I missed the broad noodles (think Italian pappardelle). The beef is toothsome but not gummy, simmered in a rich Chinese gravy. The bean sprouts had a nice crunch and the green onions offered a hint of heat but earthiness. The dish was outstanding. I ordered my mom the Lo Mein with full knowledge I would sample hers too. Another smash hit other than the noodles weren't round yet tapered edges. That's important as pasta shapes affect the taste even though the ingredients are the same. Trust me, it makes a difference. However, this concern was almost completely forgotten as the flavor again was on the money. The vegetables weren't limp and all of the components had a nice char to them, indicating a well-seasoned work used extremely high heat to cook the dish and an added benefit is it adds that smokiness we all love. The onions were perfect and the shrimp large, numerous a“
