“Habanero Cafe is a long time establishment in south Austin. This very tiny location has been cooking fantastic Tex Mex dishes for decades now. It probably only has 14 total tables cramped in the small place but everything moves around well. Open everyday until 3pm, they serve breakfast all day along with your typical variety of Tex Mex dishes. Personally I think they might have the best salsa in the entire city, which is a bold statement. Also ask for the special habanero salsa that is pure fire. Migas plate is excellent, fantastic breakfast tacos, but also consider El Patron dish, fajita steak, over easy eggs, fries & beans. All the tacos you can choose from are exceptional. Great Al pastor, Piccadillo, Barbacoa and other taco options. Lunch specials available each weekday for a great price. The service here is always very nice, fast and friendly. You can certainly call in and place to go orders for pickup. They serve bottle beer here but no margaritas. I have been going to this spot for over a decade now.You have a lot of choices for Tex Mex places all across Austin TX but Habanero Cafe might be one of the best. Such a tiny small spot packing amazing flavor with great service.Parking: Park in their private lot or free parking on the streetWheelchair accessibility: Wheel chair ramp is accessible“
“It was our first time at Torchy’s, and we loved it! Came in for the breakfast tacos and they were so yummy. The employee at the register was welcoming while taking our order and when Delia 32 brought our food out, she was very kind and engaging, ensuring our order was correct and talking to us about the area. Always great having welcoming smiles when visiting a a new place and being from out of town. Gracias Delia 32!“
“I ordered one Al Pastor and two Steak Taco. The order came.out within a few minutes. Tortillas appeared to be hand made and tasted very good. They were perfectly seasoned, served hot and slightly spicy. The server brought three different sauces with the tacos to the table. The staff was very friendly, everything was clean. Seating is available inside and outside. This is a food trailer. We will be back.“
“Unique Austin! Funky and festive! Food is delicious and plenty to share. Queso with avocado, ground beef and sour cream with puffy chips - perfect appetizer to have before a Lady Longhorn basketball game. Wait staff are friendly and quick. Inside, covered patio or full sun.. choose where you want to sit and enjoy.“
“I’ve been to a lot of Torchy’s but never at this locations. I had great service and great food (hands down) probably the best from any Torchy’s I’ve been to. Shay provided great service and was really accommodating for my large group at Torchy’s. I’ll definitely be coming back.“
“I knew it was going to be good, but I had no idea it was going to be that GOOOOOOOD!!!! The sweet potato taco was the best veggie taco I've ever had. For all the carnivores out there my husband had the crispy beef tacos, lengua (yeah it's a thing) and chicken tacos. It's BYOTequila so we did!! Ancho Tamarind, Thai Lime, and Horchata....we had them all!!! I feel so lucky to have gone on the weekend because I had the opportunity to indulge in their burnt strawberry honey and coffee dulce de leche sopapillas!!!! Home made chips and maza...whuat??? Truly an amazing experience!Came out to the new location!!! Definitely the best best veggie option around. The sweet potato taco and potato taco were amazing!“
“Beautiful place with ample parking and seating, unusual in Austin from my experience. Had a love lunch here with my wife. The food was delicious and the service great. Very attentive and knowledgeable, regularly checking in on us but without being overwhelming. Would love to eat here again when we're back in this part of town.“
“I have to say, for me everything was great. The chai tea was delicious and I'm very picky about my chai tea. The gluten free pancakes were just right and so were my over medium eggs. The waitress was a sweetheart. My only small complaint was the fruit bowl didn't taste very fresh but I can live with that. Definitely my favorite place to eat breakfast from now on. Highly recommended!“
“This was the 2nd time I've been, it was Friday and packed... But was able to get a table and just barely got the 1/2 priced app in! Got the combo fajitas, and the brown sauce they bring with it is devine! I like onions fully cooked and they are the only place I've found where they are caramelized and soft! The green salsa is so yummy. Ended with Tres leches and it was very tasty, and coated in milk. I definitely recommend this place! Also had Cade as our server, he was fantastic, very attentive, personable and made us laugh. Overall a great time tonight, even though a wait. Good job guys, y'all made a great impression!“
“It’s my go to supper tex mex home cooking spot and they keep my favorite beer, Bohemia, in bottles. Staff are always friendly and attentive and in 2 years I’ve rarely had a miss on food (tortillas were overcooked and burnt slightly) but one time in 2 years eating there 2-3 times a month is pretty darn good. Go and enjoy some carne guisada and you won’t be disappointed. Sure it’s homey but that’s why I go!“
“I always get the Mr orange and it’s delicious at every location including this one. I sat at the bar and Livi was so sweet and attentive. The layout is good, there’s a space in the restaurant for all patrons weather they’re here to hang, watch the game, ir done with family.“
“Excellent music atmosphere (very gen z), also they gave us 3 free pairs of 1/2 chips and queso because they had extra. LOVE IT‼️ Thanks Torchy's!Service was top notch!! The Dr pepper was unbelievably high quality ‼️??????‼️ also the bathroom smelled so great, very well kept restaurant“
“The staff was friendly and patient as we studied the menu. They had great draft beer choices that didn't break the bank. The hummus was a little bland but the naan was fluffy and garlicky. I had a vegetable jalapeño curry meal and the spice was right on the mark. I'd go back.“
“It was my first time axe throwing and I didn’t expect to have so much fun. I was always worried about my luck that the axe would bounce back at me like a boomerang, but I’m still here with all my limbs despite the bad throws. Our instructor Brittany was pretty awesome and patient with us. I had a group of 8 and more than half had never thrown an axe, but towards the end of our game, we got better. If it wasn’t for the heavy rain rolling in, we’d probably play for an additional hour bc time went by pretty fast from all the fun!“
“Every time we come to Austin the first stop is Pappasito’s. Food and service is always outstanding. Tonight Nicholas was our waiter, he’s one of the best waiters we’ve ever had! Never needed anything he was always ahead of the game. Thanks Nick for a great experience!“
“The COWBOY TACO'S ARE THE MOST TASTEFUL I'VE HAD SINCE I HAVE BEEN HERE IN AUSTIN.......IF THEY WERE TOO MAKE THE TORTILLAS THEM SELVES IT WOULD MATCH THE PRICES THEY CHARGE HERE AT THE TACODELI.....THEY ARE EXPENSIVE BUTT REALLY GOOD AS WELL...“
“Our first time here, and it didn't disappoint. I had the Tex-Mex beef enchiladas, and my wife had the breakfast migas plate. Both were delicious and generous portions. It was a nice surprise to find that they serve breakfast until 3 pm. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great location with plenty of parking. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this place to others.Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu, and the portions are generous.“
“My favorite Pop and mom shop the barbacoa and menudo is the only one I get out of any restaurant in Austin. The travel is worth it at all cost!! Every time I go the customer service is fantastic.. the atmosphere is is so comfy. I love all there food it is so so good, go try it and you won't be disappointed !!!“
“Visiting from Missouri, we wanted something different. We chose to come here and we are so glad we did. Sam our server was AMAZING, the food, the food was superb, I've never tasted pancakes like how they do theirs, their eggs were sweet but hardy at the same time. I will most definitely be back when back in Austin.“
“This a perfect spot if you want a good meal at a great price! We went here after a hike nearby and couldn’t have been happier. Getting chips and salsa right away is a big plusALL day breakfast is a huge Win in my book. Some places close breakfast so early it’s a crime. Especially for people that don’t eat breakfast when they first wake up, I usually wait a few hours before eatingSausage Migas plate was perfectly cooked, and we also got the pancake platter. The pancakes had a vanilla flavor to them, very goodParking was easy Sunday afternoon, but I can see it being challenging if too busyParking: Easy on a Sunday afternoon, but if other businesses were open it would be a bit more challenging“
“Consistently strong, huge tacos each and every time. I ordered the trailer park (fried chicken) and crossroads (beef brisket). Very unique and tasty. Their queso is so addicting. What sucks was trying to find parking as there is not really many free parking spaces here. Ofc, this is close to 2nd Street District which you can check out afterwards“
“We LOVE this restaurant!!!! The margaritas are delicious and strong! The pastor is perfection! I have celiac and feel very safe eating here!! Lots of gluten free options. Highly recommend!!Vegetarian options: The veggies tacos are outstandingDietary restrictions: Good for gluten free!!! Love the Pastor Nachos and all of the tacos!!“
“The staff were so friendly here! Tex-Mex Joe's is very unassuming from the outside, but it is homey inside. I got four tacos. Three of them were breakfast tacos, and I chose two ingredients for each one. I also got the al pastor taco. The mild red salsa was great. My friend got the very hot red salsa, and he really enjoyed it. I would definitely come back again and try a plate next time.“
“Waiters A little sad but in service very good I think they need a little more practice in customer service the food is Mexican it is good within what is possibleParking: The place is very small but within what it fits it has 3 B Good Nice and Cheap“
“Definitely is not a fancy place and very unassuming but dare to be surprised by the food. It is so good and I’m confident to say competes head to head with an Austin institution: Matt’s El Rancho. The prices are definitely more reasonable than Matt’s. I got a margarita for $11- it’s good and very well balanced. I ordered a carne asada which I think was $18. It’s a thin piece of meat but it’s perfectly grilled where it’s slightly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. Hubby got the grilled chicken plate, which was covered with cheesy goodness. The pico de gallo is very well-done and well-seasoned. I’m so glad because many places overlook the pico. I got an enchilada a la carte to try it out - really homemade tasting with a delicious gravy on top. One was perfect because I was pretty full after the carne asada! The chips and salsa are nice to start off the meal but wow, the salsa was quite spicy that day. I cannot wait to go back to Camino Real soon- my mouth is watering just thinking about it.“
“Great, tasty food with hit and miss service on Saturday mornings. My breakfast tacos were delicious, and my kid scarfed his enchiladas.Be forewarned--the back room gets noisy AF when it's full!!Vegetarian options: LOTS of options for all times of day.“
“I've been coming here for 26 years. Family run and you feel like family when you come in. Great margaritas and staff! I love their breakfast, lunch specials (crispy beef tacos(!), and dinner-steak a la Mexicana, Carne guisada, stuffed avocado. We love La Posada!“
“Over MANY years eating there and their previous location, I have never been disappointed. Once they even let me have a "never ending" until I had my fill platter of delicious tacos!! I recently checked to see if that was still possible, and IT IS! BTW, one had best remember that all their dishes are quite plentiful!!!I have both dined in and used takeout for both lunch and dinner.Parking: Not much of it, and there needs to be more handicapped parking near the door as well as at least one takeout space!“
“This is an old Austin staple and it shows. Everything is great, the service, price and food are awesome. The atmosphere is fun and old at the same time. The chili is just GREAT!! Have it on ANYTHING they serve. The queso with meat is wonderful. Have lunch or dinner. They are not open for bkfast.“
“Chicken Adoba taco is insanely good, I usually sub beef because I also love their fajita beef. As fusions go, this place nails it. The meat must be marinated in some kind of soy sauce mix, and doing so adds such an authentic and balanced fusion with the fresh grilled veggies that you truly get the best of both worlds. They don't skimp you on portions and doing so makes this place first choice before 90% of ATX Mexican-Asian fusion.“
“Great food and great service. My server was Lainey and she did everything perfect. Was very nice and got our food to the table quickly. Kept checking in if we needed anything. Me and my girlfriend work a lot and can’t go out to eat often and with service like that it made the night great!“
“This place is amazing and has great food! I’ve been going to this trailer at this and another location for well over 10 years since I’ve been going to Just Jeeps for service on my jeep. Always love seeing the lady at the trailer, saying hello, and putting in an order for delicious breakfast tacos :-)“
“I went this morning for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. We had a chorizo and egg plate, barbacoa tacos, and some other breakfast tacos. They were all delicious! The salsa wasn’t spicy, so we asked for a hotter one and wow, that was spicy, but good! The service was good and SUPER FAST. It only took like 5 minutes to get our food. Very impressed ?“
“The staff were extremely nice and made me feel like I was at an aunt’s house! There were people there of all ages - seniors, kids, young adults. Very family friendly. I ordered the nachos with fajita chicken and a side of lettuce. You can order them with guacamole, beans, sour cream etc but I like mine fairly simple. They were DELICIOUS! Loaded with chicken and cheese just like nachos should be!Their salsa is delicious (and addictive). Mild with a little heat at the end. It’s not chunky salsa (I liked that) and it’s made fresh.I ordered a frozen margarita as well, but it wasn’t served until the food came to the table because it was Sunday. The server said that’s their policy on Sunday - no drinks without food.I also tried their beef enchilada and chicken tortilla soup. BOTH WERE AMAZING!!!“
“If you live off South Lamar I can't stress enough that Texami is the latest and greatest food truck that has shown up on the block. I tried their breakfast tacos first, and Peter (the owner) does an excellent job on toasting the tortilla and not skimping on the ingredients inside. It gets better though, I tried the steak quesadilla this afternoon and it's savory and filling. This owner is going places and I highly recommend trying out what he has to offer. Also rad that he plays the guitar out front until the customer comes up to the window.“
“Best tacos, kindest people. I ordered my tacos and she was so kind to bring them to my car. They by no means had to ( i waited in my car since it was cold out) and the kind staff brought the tacos to my car. It’s the kind little things. I come here often and never ever regret a single taco or interaction I have with the staff.17/10 would recommend as best breakfast tacos in Austin Tx. Thank you! ??“
“For the past 25 years, I've been a devoted fan of the Chicken Bowl for my lunchtime enjoyment. This establishment holds the distinction of being a family-owned business that consistently serves delectable food. Notably, they are willing to accommodate individual preferences by offering customized dishes. Their breakfast tacos are truly outstanding, capturing the essence of a delicious morning meal. The Chicken Bowl itself presents a delightful combination of vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, carrots, and savory dark chicken. It is highly recommended to enhance this dish with a touch of teriyaki sauce, elevating its flavors to new heights. If you happen to be in the downtown area around Lavaca 17th St., I enthusiastically endorse trying the Chicken Bowls for a truly satisfying dining experience.Vegetarian options: You have to ask to customize a dish“
“Good tacos (although occasionally a few too many ingredients!), well-prepared. A broad selection of fundamentally different types on the menu. Queso is to die for. All tacos are made to order, so at busy times, your wait for food may be lengthy (grab some queso!). Atmosphere is nothing special (a little industrial), but always clean.Parking: Parking out front, but a limited number of convenient spaces. At busy times, you may walk a bit.“
“One of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the area! Every dish has really well balanced flavours; there isn't a dish I wouldn't recommend, and the price is pretty affordable. Every visit leaves us satisfied and we're frequent visitors.“
“Visiting from NM, and family took me here for lunch. Delightful place on Lake Austin. A little windy to eat outside, but we explored the dock after. Grilled mahi-mahi on green salad with jalapeno ranch. Delicious. Our waiter, Jake, recommended balsamic on the side as well, and it was brilliant. Kid friendly.“
“We are very big fans of Serranos. It’s been our go-to when we’re craving a night out but aren’t trying to go too far from home. The food and drinks are both consistently wonderful so we always know we’re going to enjoy our meal. They recently re-did their menu and it’s full of gems. Their guac is great and we’ve enjoyed everything from their chimichanga to their fajitas, their pollo Serrano to their tacos. You really can’t go wrong, but I recommend the La Perfecta margarita in particular ?The service consistently goes above and beyond. We most recently dined with Elizabeth but another service member who stands out had a really fun name…I want to say it was something like Pickles? I still recognize his face every time we come in even if he doesn’t serve our table. He was so fun. Elizabeth was incredibly attentive and didn’t forget a thing. She was kind and friendly, just provided a well-rounded, pleasant experience. Management is also very friendly. We had a minor issue with our churros tonight and they really went above and beyond to make it right for us.If you’re reading this, give Serranos a try! I’m sure they’ll keep you coming back. I know they’ll be seeing us again very soon.“
“Gloria’s is a wonderful with great service and beautiful atmosphere. ! I dropped my husband’s drink and within seconds it was cleaned up and another drink was on the way. The patio was beautiful. The food was perfect . Jaime was our service and he was fantastic.“
“We eat here at least once a week, sometimes two. Yes, we like it that much! It's always consistently delicious & we have tried just about everything on the menu and love it all. We just keep hoping they will bring back their charro beans. Their chips are thin and usually warm and always fresh and good. The dips are spicy, tasty and freshly made, as are the tortilla shells. You can see them being made as you walk in to be seated. They are so much better than the stale ones from a package. The fajitas, etc. are always made fresh and not from a batch made hours before. The jalapeno ranch dip is awesome and the salsa is made is fresh and tasty. Their service is always good and much better than many other places that are still short on staff. If you have tried it, then you know and you go back, but if you haven't, then l encourage you to go. It will a great experience with great food.“
“The food was excellent! Our party of 3 had a quesadilla plate with chicken and mushrooms and a total of 6 tacos, chips, guacamole and 2 margaritas. With tip the bill was $75. Yikes!Service was 3 stars because you stand at the counter to order and all the food and drinks were served in disposable dishes. For $75, I would have expected durable plates and glasses. The music was very loud. We were at the front of the store (as far away from the music as possible) and we had to yell to be heard. I asked the waitress to turn it down and she did. Then we had the TV news blasting over our heads.I would order food from here again but I'd get it to go.“
“For the price, you just can’t do better. $5 breakfast burrito was perfectly cooked and delicious and the torta de lengua was exceptional: crispy bread, fresh crema, tender beef tongue… drool. If you’re afraid of lengua, grow up and come get the best bang for your buck in town.“
“Can’t wait to go back!!The tables are all picnic tables both indoor and outdoor seating is available. They have handheld menus as well as billboard style.Lots of options for both omnivores and vegetarians alike. I had the torta with mushrooms , added Avacado and let me tell you it did not disappoint! The bread was really good and so was the filing however I wish there would have been more mushrooms, I loved the salsa options the habanero and tomatillo were my favorite two! Everyone at my table enjoyed thier meals and the drinks.Others had the vegatarian tacos , asada quesadillas, a chicken taco, a asada taco which they really liked, and a asada torta. We had the frozen margarita which was quite chunky (the ice) , however the one on the rocks was good and a decent amount of liquor in them. The Paloma spritz was quite tasty too. This is counter service restaurant where you order get a number and they bring it out to your table …. if something is needed after food is dropped you have to get up and get it. However, The staff was nice each interaction we had and the food came out pretty quickly.“
“They have a creamy, light green salsa..... It's SPICY NICE. First taste, it's mild and refreshing, but then it attacks your mouth with such a great taste and spice. We couldn't stop eating their red salsa either. Both amazing. So good. The waitress was super nice, too!“
“Had the best experience this evening at the local Torchy’s on S Lamar!! Shoutout to Beckah for making my experience soooo amazing! She was extremely kind, attentive, and welcoming. I will for sure be returning to this location for the positive energy and clean facilities!“
“I'm going to say this... this place is pretty good. The salsa is on point. True Mexican salsa(please do not change it, its hard to find good salsa n chips here in this city of Austin). The food is pretty good. This is going to sound funny but the food is for healthy Mexican food. Reminds me what rich Mexican people eat. All my Mexican freinds that I took here to eat agree.... we felt rich and healthy. It was great. Thank you and don't change that please.“
“Quite possibly the best food I've ever eaten. Everything tasted fresh and like Grandma made it in the back in between baking cookies just for me.Service was incredible and staff was friendly. If you're looking for a great experience and some of the best Mexican food you will ever eat in your entire life, definitely check these guys out!“
