I was referred to Ophelia’s by none other than Galveston’s own Bruh Man from da fifth floor! Pepper Junior is my new favorite person on this island!!! He should get an award for that fried chicken and the fried catfish. I cannot believe how delicious everything tasted fresh reasonable price. It was the vibe for me. The atmosphere of that place is not like no other. You can feel the history and really bring your soul to the table!
Stopped in on a whim after seeing the 5 star rating on Google. Ordered fried okra, meatloaf, and mac and cheese. The seasoning was right and everything was cooked well. I'm not a big fan of okra, but the fried okra here is now my favorite. I was surprised by how much I liked it. The food was great! And there was a lot of it! The owner, Peppa, was a great host. Told me about his time working in Antarctica, amazing pictures on the wall.

Sunday lunch visit with my brother, son and daughter in law was fantastic!!! We had fish and shrimp with greens and mac & cheese, oxtails rice & gravy with greens and mac & cheese and smothered pork chops rice & gravy with black eyed peas and fried okra. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious and more than generous portions. The owners are very welcoming and friendly. Support this amazing local business! You’ll be glad you did!!!
