Native San Antonian here. Went there yesterday (Dec. 20, 2022) for the first time. Arrived at 7:30 AM. 25 people ahead of me. Line inside, to the door. Everyone chill. Counter ladies friendly and human. You can see into the back area where 6 women methodically assemble the Holy Tamales. We came to Ruben because of it's reputation for being the best Tamales in San Antonio. During tamale season, this place has a line that starts very early in the morning with long wait. Luckily it's not the season, so no line. They gave us samples and they are in fact the best Tamales I've ever had. Maybe best in the world.
