“Honestly pretty good. I ordered one of the appetizers (it was shrimp, asparagus, sweet potatoes, and something else. I can't remember the name, but it was really really good. I also got an earl grey tea (plain) and it was also amazing. The waitresses were all very kind of patient as I waited for a date that never showed. Honestly very hospitable. I will definitely be going by myself or with my roommate again.Kid-friendliness: It's a good place to go with kids as I saw numerous families dine in while I was there. All seemed to be very respectful of the space they were in.“
“Hidden gem in Central Texas. The food is up there with the best in Austin and San Antonio. They have fresh fish shipped almost daily directly from Japan. The staff are amazing and accommodating while making sure you’re always taken care of.Their menu selection is huge and their specials are some to the most luxurious rolls for an insane affordable price.This place deserves all the success that they’re eventually bound to get. “I’ve had Sugar Fish LA and omakases in ATX. I don’t know why or how, but this place is a random gem found in the middle of San Marcos, TX.I love visiting Umami with my friends. “What a pleasant surprise to discover such a lovely eatery for my birthday meal with my family. San Marcos is so hit or miss, with mostly misses in the service department. Our waitress, Karma revived my opinion of eating out in this college town. I don't remember the last time I received such incredible service. Her attention to detail was impeccable and her polite & friendly attitude was refreshing, both with me & my husband's requests and that of our two young children. On top of all that,the food was outstanding. “Looking for a good sushi roll? Look no further. We spent the last year trying to find a place that had some good rolls, steaks and good vibes. If you need some rolls we suggest the Big B & Paradise Roll. They were exactly what we needed. Top it off with the chicken fried rice and you are set. The place has a welcoming vibe, good bar area and friendly fast service. Nice place to go with friends or family. A must if you are in the San Marcos area!“
“It was my daughter and my first time here.. we have been disappointed in China buffet and China palace lately and have been looking for somewhere new, this place was really good the staff were welcoming, kind and helpful whenever we had a question and we asked a lot of them! “Kore was wonderful, as always. She’s by far one of your best servers, and Mitchell is too. Genuinely everyone who has waited on us in the 4-ish months that we’ve been coming regularly have all created such positive experiences. Kore is our favorite, though, with Mitchell as a very close second. They’re polite, consistent, pay your table close attention, friendly, and everything you’d want in good wait staff. We also love that the restaurant is constantly improving the menu and options for the hot pot bar. We’ll be continuing to come here as long as we can.“
