“We have really enjoyed this charming place since the day they opened. The decor is so pretty that I’m envious of their selections. It has taken a while for the popularity of this restaurant to catch on but it seems the word is out now. The menu items are interesting and fresh. Not run-of-the-mill sushi as is found elsewhere. Truly a dining delight. We’re very pleased to have them in Southlake Town Square and appreciate that they provide such a pretty and delicious offering.Keep up the great work!”

Kirby's Steakhouse 3305 TX-114, Southlake Steak House • $$$$

“My Wife and I frequent beautiful restaurants like Kirby’s Steakhouse, but last night’s Kirby’s Steakhouse experience was phenomenal. From the front / reception with Astrid and her team to the appetizers / wine / main entrees / birthday dessert, facilitated by Korey, was an excellent evening.Korey’s knowledge, attention to detail, and astuteness to our questions was unbelievable. He undoubtedly knew all the menu items and articulated very clearly / carefully. The food preparation / presentation / taste resembled culinary artistry. The quality indisputably was exceptionally above anything I’ve tasted. The Kirby cocktail sauce was like none I’ve ever tasted, a unique blend of sweet and spicy ingredients. The Steak-n-Cake entree was unbelievable. The steak was very very tender, and could be cut with only a fork. I’ve never tasted a well done steak with a little crisp on the outside and very moist / soft on the inside. The lump crab cake and sauce was an awesome combination. This far surpassed any east coast entree I’ve ever consumed. Phenomenal! The potato chip crusted red fish, with the lump crab and spinach risotto was incredibly tasty and something my Wife has never experienced. very tasty and a proprietary product like no other. While the food was outstanding, it was enveloped with Korey’s outstanding / customer-first service efforts! Korey’s been doing this for quite some time, because he constantly surveyed our needs and showed up at the right moment with the right items, without any requests. It was as though he was a “mind” reader and could anticipate / met our needs.Astrid was an unbelievable coach / mentor / friend / support Leader like no one I’ve seen. She demonstrated exceptional Customer Care / Service, to be sure our experience was bar none the best! We’ll be back quickly / repetitively, as this is our “go to” restaurant for anything any time. “Its not for me. We’re going through and trying out the sushi in this area. Im extremely particular about my sushi. I got the dragon roll and it was over filled with imitation crab, a pinprick of avocado but a good amount of yellowtail topper. Terrible execution. Cucumber salad was also disappointing. Tasted and looked old and leftover. Overall, I may try this once more as it was def better than Oishii but so far, only Hatsuyuki and Nikko have been able to compete with my rankings while searching this side of the airport. Parking is readily available and is only about 4 minutes away from the Southlake center shops. Definitely recommend if looking for a casually comfortable, cheery breakfast or lunch.”

Handel's Ice Cream 2645 E Southlake Blvd Ste 180, Southlake Ice Cream Shop • $

“My best friend raves about Handel's near her in Oceanside, CA so when one popped up near us, we had to go. On her recommendation my husband got the monkey business (banana ice cream with caramel and brownie), I got horchata. Both were super tasty. He said his might be the best ice cream he's ever had. There's so many flavors so we will be going back for more. I like that you get the unique mixes of something like Cold Stone but didn't have to wait 5-10 minutes to have it mixed. Keep in mind the "small" is still three scoops of ice cream!Atmosphere is only low rated because there really isn't anywhere to sit inside or outside. They could use a few tables inside and small patio area outside. Nothing wrong with the service either. You won't be disappointed.”

“First time here. Decided to try because they had hand pulled noodles and was not too far from Arlington where we needed to go later.Glad we went to this Chinese restaurant. Just ordered the Mongolian beef and hand pulled noodles with chicken. The Mongolian beef was tender and flavorful. Just a the right amount of sauce and not too salty. The hand pulled noodles were the gem though. Perfectly cooked and chewy with the right amount of flavor. The chicken was white meat and texture was delicious. Apparently there was a sign at the door that read they had Peking duck daily until they are out, which I will have to try next time. I wished this place was closer to where I live in Plano/Frisco, but definitely worth another trip to Southlake.”

Sushi Sam 500 W Southlake Blvd #138, Southlake Japanese • $$

“My wife had gotten an ad for Sushi Sam on her social media, and went to check out where they were. We had driven past them a number of times heading to the Southlake town center, and usually they are on the other side of 1709 from where we are coming to head to what we are going to do that we hadn't really considered them before checking out their menu. Service was outstanding, it did feel like they were overstaffed for the amount of customers they had. We decided to go heavy on veggie rolls due to the number of different options they had compared to our normal places. While it was all good, the only thing that stood out was our one meat option that we got for our 8 year old ... a chicken teriyaki roll (cooked.) Prices are a little on the higher side as well when we compare rolls that we can compare to other places we do go to. (I'll give them credit on that, they are in Southlake.) We will likely return at least a couple more times, especially with our 16 year old in tow with us to try that teriyaki roll, and to try items we didn't get a chance to try this time around. Though, they may not be our regular spot for our regular rolls.”

“So the for the first time in we tried the pickup order. It wasn't very clear walking in where you were supposed to go. The walls were really busy and it was fairly busy at the line so it's possible I just missed it. I eventually had to ask the staff were to go and they told me to walk around the back, there I found the to go counter.Ok, food. The brisket was very good. It was not overpowered with smoke and had a very good balance to it. The sausage was good, but it kind of hit like a breakfast sausage. Not a deal killer, just not what I'm used to. The okra was a tad greasy but it was good.Mac and cheese was great, the kids killed that. And the desert was the banana pudding. It was alright, it tasted a bit artificial to me. However, it was sweet and worked out fine; although I don't think I'll be getting that again. I'll probably try the cobbler.I liked the atmosphere there, I'll probably come back again with the family and have a sit down. Overall it was a good first visit, and I'll likely come back.”

Taverna Rossa 1151 E Southlake Blvd #300, Southlake Pizza • $

“Good upscale pizza spot, even if it is a bit chaotic. Once you finally find parking in this patch of Southlake retail and walk up, the fair-sized covered patio can be pretty inviting. However, if you brave the indoor area, you'll feel like you've stumbled into a college town pizza pub for the middle-aged. The wooden interior and high ceilings combine for a noisy environment once it starts getting busy. After being seated, we watched servers and food runners scurry around from table to table, trying to keep up while simultaneously missing an opportunity to greet us and get drinks started (took a good 5 minutes to reveal who was working our table). But honestly, these are minor gripes in the big picture here. Once they arrived, our server was friendly and quick on the drinks when they weren't rushing between tables. We opted for the family dinner, which is both a good deal and a lot of leftovers if you have 4 people or less. We added a meatball appetizer, and the seasoned meat and marinara went great with the perfectly toasted bread. The pretzel that came with the dinner package was okay, but honestly felt more like a giant, twisted breadstick (the queso that we paid extra for didn't do it any favors, either). The farm style salad was actually really delicious, probably helped by coating the whole bowl with ranch. This is also the point of the dinner when we realized that we needed to hurry up and finish our first course(s), as table real estate was VERY limited for us, and a big pizza was soon to be en route. The Classic Rossa came out piping hot, but still soft enough that toppings were hanging on for dear life as I scarfed each delicious slice. If you're an older pizza fan, or just a family that's had enough CiCi's for a while, you'll like the step up in class this pizza place provides.Vegetarian options: Veggie pizza and salads”

“When I tell you this burger is fresh you still taste the grass the cow ate that day ?. It’s sooo good I love to get the Cattleman and fried okra. It’s just something about having an onion ring (fried) on the burger that elevates the flavor and texture of it. And don’t let start talking about how nice and professional the servers/workers are. And when you wake in you get sucked back into the past nd you can’t help but think that this is how it must have felt eating out back in the day. 10/10 place”

We went on a Saturday night and, as expected, there was a long wait due to the no reservations policy on weekends (reservations are only accepted Monday to Thursday). If you have a large group and plan to visit on a weekend, arrive early to secure a table. The food and drinks were amazing, and the prices were reasonable compared to other restaurants in Southlake. The ambiance was inviting, although parking near the restaurant was difficult; however, there was plenty of parking just a two-minute walk away near the REI store. We ordered the tostadas and aquachile verde both of which tasted incredibly fresh and delicious. The complimentary chips and salsa were a nice touch, and they also offer a gluten-free menu."Dietary restrictions: They have a separate gluten free menu”

“We arrrived without a reservation on a Friday night. There was an obvious wait, but since we were only two, we probably didn't even actually wait 5 minutes for a table. Were were sat in a banquet in the bar area. Overall this place is very well built and decorated. It has an elegant feel that is not pretentious and feels very open and comfortable. I did note the way they constructed the ceiling, which sounds weird but here's why: This buildling is part of a strip building and so has a very high roof. Rather than dropping in a ceiling, they left it open all the way up. All support structures, lighting fixtures, sound system, etc. are painted black but the cool part is that they installed sound absorbing insulation on the roof and it makes a world of difference in the overall sound level (din) in the restaurant. Even though it is completely open concept and it was packed that night, it was still very pleasant and comfortably quiet for conversation. We were greeted promptly and we asked for a queso. Chips, salsa, and the queso came quickly and all were very good. I particularly like the tortilla chips. The thickness was just right: thick enough not to break in salsa or queso, yet not too thick to be overwhelming.I did ask for a soda and it was served in a can with a glass of ice. OK, that is so odd for a place this nice that I can only assume their fountain was broken. It made no difference to me and I didn't even ask.We had the Pollo con Hongos and a combo dish. Everything went very smoothly, the food came out quickly, and everyhting was very well done, nicely presented, and delicious. I particularly enjoyed the mushroom chicken dish. The portion was large and I had plenty left over for a next-day lunch.Overall this experience was wonderful and I am looking forward to visiting again. Great date night spot. Lively enough to be really fun, but to loud to have an intimate dinner.”
