“We were passing by and we saw SHALIMAR, sounds great. We had lunch and it was great. Food was fresh and delicious. We ordered beef and chicken shawarmas, beef kabobs, chicken tikka masala, beef jalfrazy with garlic naan and fresh salad.Prices are affordable and staff was nice and professional.Thank you Shalimar.“
“This is our second time dining in here. The food was delish but Saifullah's personable service and attention to their guests makes it even better. Try the kabab platter and the chicken jalfrezi. You wouldn't be disappointed. Ask for recommendations. Hands down, a great Desi restaurant to frequent often....“
“Had such a great time here, seen this place over the last 10+ years and very happy with how it is right now. Staff is very nice and caring and went out of their way to make sure me and my family were good and if we needed anything. The food was also very fresh and tastes so good! The buffet was fresh and they were continuously bringing out fresh items. The price was unbeatable for the buffet and my favorite items were the butter chicken, chicken biryani, and gajar halwa! Best naan ever and the fried fish was also very good.“
“The best Indian/Nepali food around! My husband and I LOVE the food. And the servers and owners are amazing! They always accommodate my allergy to dairy as well. They are the kindest! We love this place and recommend it to anyone and everyone.“
“Loved the Mutton Biryani. Being a typical Hyderabadi, I am very picky with biryanis. I loved the mutton biryani here as it got rich flavor in the rice unlike curry over bagara rice type of biryani at other desi restaurants. And the meat is very fresh and tender with full of flavors.“
“Looks like they may have lost their sign in a storm, so aim for the Indian supermarket next door!!GREAT food, but just getting started as a restaurant. This used to be Star Grill and I expect under new management. The staff were very friendly/helpful and the food was GREAT.There was not such a variety of menu choices as I might expect (e.g. no potato/cauliflower type dishes), but what we had tasted wonderful. The atmosphere is a work-in-progress, I hope they lose the canned sodas and refrigerator machines in favor of a more traditional style dine-in restaurant.Unusual to see a table-tennis table in the corner, but I expect it may be a leftover from the previous version of this place. The butter chicken was perfect, the biryani wonderful - but be conscious that some chicken dishes have bone-in chicken pieces.Go for the food, not the decor!“
“We came to spend long weekend to Houston with our extended family. We are basically vegetarians. We tried multiple restaurants and finally ended up here. The Veg Biryani and Paneer Biryani are top class! The Nans and curries are also excellent. Thali is not upto the mark. But the Biryanis, Nans and curries are top class. We will definitely recommend this place“
“Typical south Indian restaurant where the food is definitely quite authentic and it is a nice ambience, and the hostess is very welcoming and traditional. We had the vegetarian south Indian Madras Thali which was very fulfilling. They have buffets on Friday Saturdays and Sundays and the variety includes about six or seven along with the rice or chapati/poori. The taste was definitely delectable and authentic. But once you eat, you're going to be really full, so make sure that this is one of the things you are going to take some rest after. The aftertaste is amazing.“
“First of all, food was always good. My family likes to eat there when they have the buffet lunch on Sundays. However, I was really disappointed last Thursday when I ordered some dessert to go. It was the Bursan Burfi cookies. There were only 7 small pieces in the container for $6 or $7 dollars. It looked so sad, like our leftovers. I don't think I week order that again.“
