“Wow, Wow, &?!!I think we found our new happy place!!The Pork ribs were HUGE(I know, that’s what she said?) The pig must have been on steroids. They were seasoned perfectly and had the right pull on off the bone. Sitting here writing this my mouth is salivating. They do everything right not a bunch of crappy sauces to cover poor cooked meats, like most places. They let their meat do all the talking. These thick and juicy ribs melt in your mouth and were priced right. The brisket bark was spot on, flavor was amazing but was a tad bit over cooked for my likings even asked for the fatty piece. Mac n cheese was also delicious. Now the beer list…. It Was outstanding!!I wanted to sit here all day drinking the beers and eating ribs. The story on how got here… we attended the Thai festival in Manassas Va on 4/7 stopped for a beer afterwards and the bartender suggested HammerDown. He said it was out of our way but said there is No good BBQ anywhere is Manassas. Hard to believe with over 40,000 people. So we decided to take a detour, way beyond our expectations! Well done ?The owner was kind and poured us up our beers and asked us if we were full. Also what kind of wood do you use?“

Quattro Goombas Winery Winery • $$

“Beer selection is awesome, beers taste fantastic. I didnt have the wine... but the wine slushies were flying out the door. Pizza - killer tomato pie with pepperoni. Sicilian dough, cheese and then a sweet sauce and diced pepperoni on top. Chicago style beef sandwhich was very tasty. Live music was great as well. Huge outdoor seating areas and indoor too. Dog friendly. It was a great visit. If you haven't been.. stop sleeping on Quattro and get on over.“

Quattro Goombas Brewery Brewery • $$

“Good wine and beer. Was very crowded and lines took 25 mins. Wine slushy and pizza line was particularly bad. We avoided some of the lines by sending someone to the adults only side to buy some bottles of wine. That was quick, but there was no way to work around the 20 min beer line. Pizza is Chicago style. They don’t serve any kid drinks, so be sure to pack what you need for kids.“

“A relaxing location close enough for a short trip, but still has views of the rolling hills of Virginia. The owners, staff, and winemaker are informative and if you stop in around the right time, you may get an invite to help pick grapes or bottle wine enabling you to learn more about the process. This was one of the few wineries we've ever visited that both me and my wife enjoyed all of the wines. Children and dogs are allowed, though with some limits (dogs can't come inside due to new Virginia regulations and children are asked to stay on the ground floor). All in all, Cana Vineyards and Winery is a great place to get relax for a few hours when you get a chance, and then head down to Middleburg for dinner and shopping!“

There is parking around back and down the hill in a public lot - which requires a short walk back up the hill. Trinity House Cafe is located in what looks like it used to be a residence. I ordered their version of Lox & Bagel and a small cold brew - with a splash of Half 'n Half. I sat in the front room to eat my Lox & Bagel. There are 6-7 small tables in this room. The Lox & Bagel was tasty - I wished they added more capers and fresh dill. The cold brew was excellent. Service was good. Paid with Apple Pay. #TrinityHouseCafeAndMarket“

The Winery at La Grange Wineries • $$
4970 Antioch Rd, Haymarket - 8.93 miles

“I don't usually review wineries but had such a great experience, I felt compelled to share. Everything was wonderful from stat to finish. We came to La Grange on a cold January day for a friend group outing. My husband and I along with another friend couple arrived ahead of our other friends. We decided on trying the buy 1 get one free wine tasting and went with the reds. I had mentioned to my husband walking in that I never remember wines when visiting wineries. We both agreed after this wine tasting, this would not be the case. All of the wines were amazing! And unique. It was hard to pick a favorite among them.We had the pleasure of working with Chris, who seamlessly bounced between our friend group arriving at different times, seeking different wine style tastings. He was friendly, patient (our group may have broken a glass upon jubilant hellos), and knowledgeable. Being int he Bull Run area, it was fun to learn about the history of the building and wines Just be careful with Chris - he's a great salesman! He easily sold one of our friends on a membership - although the memberships do seem like a great value. I can't recall the exact specifics so don't want to speak on it, but if you are even slightly interested in a winery membership, I'd recommend asking about this one.We spent most of our time in the basement which is a cozy space, decorated with lights and that could accommodate our group as well as others. It was also helpful that they allow outside food, since we could pair what we wanted with the bottles of wine being consumed.Great time, great people, great experience. I'd love to come back in warmer weather to see the ground. Highly recommend!“

“We recently hosted our wedding welcome party at Black Walnut Brewery, and the experience was absolutely fantastic! From start to finish, Black Walnut met and exceeded our expectations and provided the perfect setting for a memorable evening. The atmosphere at Black Walnut Brewery was exactly what we were looking for—inviting, festive, and perfectly suited for our 50-person welcome party. Despite the chilly weather, the thoughtful inclusion of heaters ensured that our guests were comfortable both indoors and outdoors. The venue's proximity to parking and our rehearsal dinner venue made it incredibly convenient for our guests, especially those traveling from Dulles or DC.The inclusion of signs added a personal touch, making it easy for everyone to navigate the space. The restrooms were well-maintained, and the overall setup contributed to the welcoming atmosphere. While there were some good food options, it was the drinks that truly stole the show. Black Walnut Brewery offers more than just beer, and the selection of drinks was exceptional. The bartenders demonstrated efficiency and skill, ensuring that our guests had a great time enjoying the various beverage options.Communication with the Black Walnut team was also great. Easy via email, from the initial planning stages to the day of the event, the staff was professional, friendly, and attentive to our needs and the needs of our guests. Unlike other venues, we were pleasantly surprised that we weren't charged for the space. This gesture allowed us to focus on creating a welcoming environment and ensured that our guests could fully partake in the fantastic drinks Black Walnut has to offer. Our wedding welcome party at Black Walnut Brewery was a truly memorable experience, and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Good bands providing music gave a laid-back, relaxed vibe. Go up to the bar and order drinks and food. Grab a number and try to find a spot to sit. It was crowded when we got there, but we were able to snag a table pretty quickly. The kitchen got backed up, and we waited an hour for our food. However, the people watching, drinks, and band made the longer wait ok. Once the food came out was ok, I thought the atmosphere was what really had it going on. The pretzel that was larger than my head was warm, soft, and delicious. The steak tacos lacked some flavor. The hamburger was huge and wasn't bad, but could have used a bit more salt to bring out the flavor. This is a mixed review, but we are definitely willing to go back.“

I asked our bartender, Payton, to make me something novel and I was not disappointed. We enjoyed sipping our drinks in the beautiful, wood paneled lobby. Later, we went into the Conservatory, to find that Payton was also to be our waiter. We opted for the Chef's Tasting Menu with one substitution, since I don't eat beef. They happily complied and my wife and I enjoyed the most interesting and delicious meal. I am not an adventurous eater and there were one or two things I would not normally have ordered, but I would have been missing out on some exceptional dishes. And each course was artfully displayed. Add to that the great atmosphere: sitting in a beautiful glass room, surrounded by forest, in front of the fireplace, very attentive service, it all made for one of our best dining experiences ever! The Bistro at Goodstone Inn Bistros
36205 Snake Hill Rd, Middleburg - 6.08 miles

“We had a really lovely evening here! The setting is beautiful, the wait-staff are great, and the ambiance is cozy and modern rustic. The foie gras is creamy and delicious, and there is so much of it (not a bad thing, please keep it all!!) that it definitely needs to come with more than 3 tiny slices of brioche. The scallop crudo was hands down the best thing we ordered--it was so flavorful, tart, and creamy! The mushrooms in the squab appetizer were awesome; everything had a delicate flavor and texture and was cooked perfectly. The lobster-salmon appetizer was pretty good, but what elevated it for me was the beurre blanc--holy crap, they nailed that sauce. The beef tenderloin literally melted in my partner's mouth--it is one of the best he's had, and definitely the best in the area. The dole with lemon-butter sauce was really tasty, and the addition of perfectly creamy mashed potatoes and salty greens were such a great complement; it was also a bigger portion than I expected, and I was pleasantly full after. My only request would be a better choice of desserts and cocktails; there were only a few things to choose from and they were all pretty basic--nothing called out to us. And the espresso machine was broken, so that was disappointing at the end of a meal that we had to drive quite a ways home from as well.“

“We were in Middleburg, and a friend recommended this winery. Of all the wineries we tried in the Middleburg area, this one was our favorite. The 2021 Norton and Albarino white were to die for. The Petit Verdot was also amazing. We saw a lot of negative reviews about the food. But we decided to try it anyway. We got the Thai pork belly, and the pesto panini. We can’t speak to the pizza, but what we ordered was really good. Highly recommend this winery. The food is good, the wine is good. The views are spectacular. What more could you ask for?“
