“Long post ahead, warning! I walked in around 9 pm and the hostess didn't bat an eye at my dining alone, and didn't say anything about it, which I appreciate. I was seated right away with no problems and immediately got a chance to look over the menu. I will admit, it took a little bit longer than expected for my waiter to come over, but as a lone diner I sort of expected that. I looked like I was waiting for someone, I'm sure. The look and feel of the place was very upscale, but they didn't have any problems with me walking in wearing a nerdy t-shirt. I was seated in this cute little booth for 2 with curtains on the side so, if I wanted a more private dinner, I could have it. It was a cute touch! The restaurant also offered patio dining and since it's by the creek, that would have been a downright charming experience were it not the usual Maryland summer. Despite having a bar, the restaurant was respectably quiet and low-key, making it an easy dining experience. I wasn't in the mood for something wild, and this place really hit the nail on the head. My first waiter Kevin, however, was the picture of polite helpfulness. He answered all of my questions, made some wonderful suggestions, and was incredibly pleasant to talk to. I was delighted to find out that this place takes part in DC restaurant week, so I was able to take part in that promotion. Under a suggestion from Kevin, I ordered a glass of their moscato (I wanted something light and sweet), and the wine was so good I brought home a whole bottle. Not really on them, but it does reflect their excellent selection. Dinner itself was delicious. The red pepper soup was refreshing and flavorful, without being too filling. The steak I ordered was cooked to perfection and was flavored in the perfect way to make the actual flavor of the meat shine. The potatoes were both light and fluffy, but also had the little chunks of potato that I prefer in my mashed. The best part was desert. About halfway through my appetizer, Kevin introduced my other waiter, Maddy, who took over after he went home. She was as much of a delight as he was, and made possibly the best recommendation of the night. Desert was this blackberry tart that I did not have room for but could not put down. Gooey and crumbly all at once, with a warm center that was almost caramel-y even though it was fruit based. Topped with a light cream to balance it all out, it was absolutely delicious. I will be thinking of that tart all day tomorrow. The prices on the menu were a little high, but I wouldn't go so far to say they were unreasonable. If I had wanted a cheaper option, I could have gone to any chain restaurant ever. In the grand scheme of downtown Frederick, with it's many small businesses and one of a kind dining experiences, I think this was reasonable. For reference, a lot of meals were between $20 and $30, but a good steak is almost always $30+. Despite the price, I had an exceptional dining experience, and would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for upscale dining, without the upscale requirements.”

“I visited Cassanel for the first time in December 2022 it was the last of 4 wineries I visited that day. Long overdue review shame on me. Some friends and myself like going to different wineries every time we have a chance and I honestly been coming back to Cassanel more than any other winery I thought I liked before. Let's begin with the staff, the amazing people who works here always welcome everyone with an amazing smile and warmth atmosphere. Theresa was the first person I meet and she is beyond amazing. Such a beautiful human being. Never been a wine person because always end up with that one wine super dry and strong flavor that I couldn't drink. The have not one wine that I can say I didn't like....but do have my favorites José Rosé and Dolce 😍😍 Yesterday (June 26, 2023) had the opportunity to meet Mr. José who's been with them for over 12 years and takes amazing care of the grapes, then got to meet Mr. Nelson (the owner) he is a wonderfu man and full fo good vibes. We had a wonderful conversation full laugh and now I understand why this winery is so amazing. 100% recommend, wines are delicious and affordable.”

“A tiny bakery at a fork in the road that is incredibly delicious! All of the baked goods were so tasty. I wish we lived closer! There are many different flavors of pies and cookies. The staff are friendly and helpful. There were some gluten free options. We stopped in during the afternoon and some things were already sold out. I would love to come back in the morning to experience the full bakery! Must visit bakery!

I ordered one today and it looked amazing. unfortunately it was loaded with chopped up jalapeño peppers and ai could not eat it. why do restaurants assume that vegans eat hot food? I wasted $15. put Texas Pete sauce on the table and let the customer add the heat. the good news is my friends have never eaten there before and loved your burgers with beef.”

“This winery is great if you are looking for a good wine and peaceful place. It’s small but it has a great atmosphere. Their wines are excellent! I love their wine and chocolate praline tasting. We like this place for birthday parties as well as it’s usually not too crowded. Their outdoor is large with many places to sit. The indoor is small with just few tables. But as I mentioned, most of their members typically pick up their wines to go so it’s never an issue to find a spot to sit. The only negative thing I can say is that my kids don’t love going there because it’s not much to do for them, and the parking lot could use a bit of love. But we are members for about 6+ years and we truly like their wines. My family makes wines in Slovakia and I took them there as well and they enjoyed their wines a lot as well!”

When I went back in to clarify what he was trying to convey he said he wanted the kids table inside. There were NO other children needing the table and they do not have any high chairs. This coffee shop is obviously NOT about the family. Joe was rude and was very annoyed with our family. It was obvious to us that kids and family were not welcome!! Very upsetting!! We will NOT be going back and will warn other families about this place.”

“This local gem is a must visit. Their coffee alone I crave regularly (I keep saying I need to just order the stuff online but let’s face it, what’s better than a cup of Joe made by someone else?). Their New York special sandwich and macaroni pasta salad are my go to’s. But don’t skip out on their chili! The brisket in it, yum. Also, my kiddos and I love to treat ourselves to breakfast. Their pancakes are magical. I don’t know how they make them so good (maybe it’s buckwheat pancakes?) I don’t know but they are divine. As are their breakfast sandwiches and the NY bagels. Deli South is a Leesburg must, and honestly I’ve yet to find a deli that hits in the same way.”

“NOT family friendly! We were rudely asked to bring the kids table inside when our grandkids were sitting at it. Joe was condescending and emphasized he didn't want us there all day! When I went back in to clarify what he was trying to convey he said he wanted the kids table inside. There were NO other children needing the table and they do not have any high chairs. This coffee shop is obviously NOT about the family. Joe was rude and was very annoyed with our family. It was obvious to us that kids and family were not welcome!! Very upsetting!! We will NOT be going back and will warn other families about this place.”

“I was driving back to Philly on Sunday and as I pulled into Brossman’s Family Farm was delighted to spot the Bomburger Food Truck. I had the grilled cheese sandwich, which was amazing. The crispy sourdough bread paired with the cheese blend created such a delicious sandwich. The young guys offer a wonderful menu and extend such warm hospitality; I highly recommend.”

“I used to love driving to Leesburg just for their burgers. Wholeness I started eating vegan I called and asked if they had vegan burgers that were made fresh. yes!! I ordered one today and it looked amazing. unfortunately it was loaded with chopped up jalapeño peppers and ai could not eat it. why do restaurants assume that vegans eat hot food? I wasted $15. put Texas Pete sauce on the table and let the customer add the heat. the good news is my friends have never eaten there before and loved your burgers with beef.”

“Omg! What a treasure this place is if you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine. I picked up a whole Tiramisu imported from Milan (frozen) to share with my BOOKCLUB ladies after reading Tartufo. It was not cheep, but oh So worth it!! I’ll be back. The owners are very helpful and sincerely charming. I felt like I was in the old country :)”
