Fox Meadow Vineyards & Winery Winery • $$
3310 Freezeland Rd, Linden

“Absolutely love Fox Meadow! The views are spectacular and the wine is so good it’s hard to pick a bottle you don’t want to purchase. Recently attended a vertical tasting of their Le Renard Rouge and it was so informative (and tasty). The winemaker led the event, we learned so much and got to taste some great wines.“

Capstone Vineyards Winery •
13400 Crimson Ln, Linden

“New winery with definite promise. We were able to speak with the new owner/wine maker and he has a lot of vision for this winery which was a hobby for a couple from DC. Renovations will be taking place and I'm looking forward to seeing the improvements. Right now, parking is not marked and it's very confusing to know where you go for a tasting. There was a huge flight of stairs so I'm hoping renovations include handicap accessibility. The wines were all very good. We tasted two whites and 4 reds, all were dry and very good, the reds were young but good. If you want ambiance wait until the renovations, if you want good wine go now. It's worth a visit.“

Linden Vineyards Wineries •

“Based on our recent visits, Linden has corrected the issues that caused some of the bad reiews of the past. We are not club members and reserved a tasting in September 2023. My wife was not participating. The staff offered her a choice among several rooms in which to sit and asked if she preferred the windows open or closed, and then brought her a blanket and water to drink - they couldn't have been more accommodating. We were welcome to sit anywhere we liked after my tasting on each visit. The tasting staff were amazing, and were able to explain the winemaking process and vineyard management for each wine poured and were happy to answer questions. Owner Jim Law stopped at the bar a few times. And while I was finishing my tasting, two or three small groups appeared without the requisite reservations. Jim greeted them and said he could do a tasting for them at a separate bar. After my tasting, I joined them just to listen to what Jim had to say about his wines. I declined a pour saying "I just finished a tasting at the main bar." His reply was, "yes, but you didn't taste this one!" as he poured it for me. It was a sublime experience. As a result of the great first experience, I signed up for a special tour a couple weeks later on the day they were sorting the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the once-in-a-lifetime 2023 vintage. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable as she guided us through the vineyard and very busy production areas. Jim broke off his hard work a few times to give us samples of different wines in various stages and to add information. Meanwhile, the staff was keeping my wife comfortable in the winery. It is too bad these stars don't go to 11, because that would match our experiences at Linden.“

“Well worth the stop - tiny little place but delicious meads that are unique and well rounded. The owner Kevin was in while we were there and he just oozes with pride in his product which makes for a really great experience. Highly recommend making this stop, even if it’s just on your way through town.“

“Literally the best wine tasting experience ever! My mother reserved 2 igloos and they let us stay for 4 and a half hours! We were buying wine bottles and clearly my uncle had a great time. The igloos were nice, the inside had blankets, a blue tooth speaker, and heater. Our waiter Matt was friendly and funny. My family and I definitely made some memories!“

Arterra Wines Winery •
1808 Leeds Manor Rd, Delaplane - 6.96 miles

“Tried a flight of 5- highlights:Cab franc- bright red fruit consisting of cassis, raspberry, hint of jam, licorice, hint of violets. Velvet moderate tannins. Beautifully done. Resembles Loire CF but with new world characteristics.Tannat- darker fruits this time with blackberry, black cherry, ground chocolate, hint of baking spice. Med-high tannins with inky mouthfeel. Complex yet approachable.Red blend- take the above two and meet somewhere in the middle. Very good as well.Tried a couple of whites as well, both very good. Gruner veltiliner stood out.Hidden gem for sure“

Rappahannock Cellars Winery • $$
14437 Co Rd 635, Huntly - 5.5 miles

“We had a lovely (if chilly) February visit to Rappahannock cellars. There is a large outdoor seating area with fire pits, which was nice until the sun disappeared behind the mountain. (Dogs are only allowed outside, which was why we were braving the patio in February). We had a glass of the rose, which had nice strawberry notes while being very crisp, dry, and refreshing. It paired well with the sausage and pepper pizza we got from the food tent. The tasting room was pretty busy for late on a Sunday afternoon but the staff were very nice and knowledgeable. I also got to taste the Fizzy Lizzy (sparkling rose), meritage, and Eighteen, but the rose was my favorite. My husband and I go to VA wineries about once a month and I rarely give five star reviews, but this was one of the better wines we've tasted in a while. (I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could, but am rounding up because the wines were definitely better than the competition). Our running joke is that VA wine only tastes good at the winery, but this was one wine that I actually enjoyed more once I was home (but maybe that was because I could feel my fingers)!“

Cobbler Mountain Cellars, LLC Wineries • $$
5909 Long Fall Ln, Delaplane - 8.37 miles

“Beautiful location and great cider. The cost just feels extremely high to me. It was $40 for a flight of eight 6 oz pours. This was surprising as most flights of four pours run $10-13, so I was thinking around 26 bucks for the eight glasses. I was shocked when they rang up the bill. $5.50 for a small cup of very flat root beer. My daughter didn't even finish it. $60 with taxes and tip.Yet, the cider was phenomenal. I guess you're paying for top shelf quality. They have a ton to choose from and are celiac safe.I rated the atmosphere as a three and that's because they do not have or enforce a leash law for dogs. I am a dog lover and have three dogs. We did not bring them with us and I'm glad that we did not. There were multiple dogs off leash and we saw one pint get knocked over by a dog and then we witnessed a dog fight which included three spilled drinks and some swear words. We often bring our dogs to breweries, wineries, and cideries and our dogs and others are always on a leash. The nature trail was cute and our younger kids loved it.Service was amazing. We will definitely be back but with a little bit more cash in our pocket next time. And without our dogs. The cider was worth the drive.“
