“We visited Hill Top for one of the stops on my bachelorette weekend trip and this was definitely the best place we visited! They were SO friendly and treated us like family, let us meet the goats and dogs, and had the best wine and mead. We’re so glad we stopped here!“

Mountain & Vine Vineyards and Winery (Formerly Delfosse) Winery • $$
500 Delfosse Winery Ln, Faber - 6.01 miles

“We visited this property on Friday 5 April 2024. It's really out of the way if approaching from Afton but not so much if approaching from Charlottesville. We arrived from Afton and the last five miles were a one lane gravel road. If you remember that '70s movie Delivernace you could hear the Banjo playing. The first impression was that this is a low budget operation compared to places in Afton such as Pollak or Veritas. Don't let first impressions fool you. The money and the passion are in the wines here. If you enjoy fine wine in a non-pretentious environment then you should make the effort to find this vineyard. The server seemed far more widely travelled and knowledgeable than anyone else at the other vineyards we visited on this trip. Highly recommended,“

Brent Manor Vineyards Wineries • $$
100 Brent Manor Ln, Faber - 7.37 miles

“Brent Manor is our absolute favorite! We visit any time we are relatively close to the area. Even though we don't make it to Brent Manor very often, the owners recognize us every time. They are extremely friendly and welcoming. The wines are excellent (we love the lemon crush winetail and the rose especially). This is a must-visit winery—don't pass it up.“

Flying Fox Vineyard Winery •
10368 Critzer Shop Rd, Afton - 8.24 miles

“May 2024-This winery is not the most beautiful of the wineries in the area and does not have a view but the staff member was very friendly and I really liked the Petite Manseng. Their wines tend to be on the dry side. I would recommend visiting here.“

Mountain Cove Vineyards Winery •
1362 Fortune's Cove Ln, Lovingston - 7.81 miles

“Beautiful property, wonderful views, relaxing atmosphere, and tasty wines. The owner is very personable and friendly. Pretty drive to get here too. Stopped here after hiking at the Nature Conservancy property a half mile away. If you are in the area and have some time, well worth your stop.“

Cardinal Point Winery Wineries • $$
9423 Batesville Rd, Afton - 7.54 miles

“Nice views and good scenery. The wine was good, the outdoor covered seating area was nice. Unfortunately there was a lot of dog hair on all of the outdoor seating which isn't a slight on the facility people just need to be more considerate.“

“What a terrific experience with Ann and the team at Valley Road. Engaging and personal - we also shared time with the exec team who happened to be onsite sharing the story of the vineyard team and their recent successes with their award winning wines… Big fan of the Torn Curtain.!.!.!Thanks for a wonderful experience - from your Indiana friends.!“

Afton Mountain Vineyards Winery • $$
234 Vineyard Ln, Afton - 8.27 miles

“I really like the grounds here as it is breathtakingly beautiful. I mainly liked their Gewürztraminer wine. I found one of the staff members with short hair to be kind of snobby and not great with customer service but the rest of the staff was very friendly and helpful. I did not like that you could not choose which wines to try. They choose them for you and they are all served prepoured and refrigerated which I did not appreciate with some of them being reds. I would much rather choose some of the wines poured directly from the bottle.“

Veritas Vineyards and Winery Wineries • $$
151 Veritas Ln, Afton - 8.91 miles

“We stayed at the Farmhouse at Veritas last November and enjoyed a four course wine paired dinner. Unfortunately there was a forest fire in Rockfish Gap with a resulting traffic jam that prevented us from attending "wine hour" prior to dinner. We visited the tasting room on 5 April 2025 and had the opportunity to enjoy more of this vineyard's offerings. This was the highlight of our weekend when it comes to the four vineyards visited. The tasting area here is a large two-story affair with plenty of outdoor seeting as well. We did not have a look at the food menu but did start to get hungry watching all of the food go by.Vesritas was awarded three gold medals in the 2024 Governor's cup and we enjoued them all. The two wines on the white side of the ledger are coming home with us to be enjoyed later. Highly recommended!“
