“I came here for a work event and we were directed to the event space. I got the short rib and a couple others got the salmon. Both were wonderful.Drinks were a little slow but heavily poured and made for a lively evening.The night was made by the service given by Rylee. She took the time to connect with everybody and made us all feel welcome while giving wonderful service. Her patience and expertise made the night a wonderful experience!“
“Our first time coming in here and I must say I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't impressed. For our appetizer we had the southern egg rolls which were delicious, but the fact that 1 order is just 1 egg roll cut in half for 8 dollars in my opinion is a bit much, so we ordered 2. Next the mains, my wife ordered the baked chicken with Mac and cheese and cabbage, the baked chicken was very juicy but over seasoned, the Mac and cheese was decent but that cabbage was just way to sweet for our liking. Myself I ordered the shrimp and grits w/ bacon. Flavor wise I thought it was perfect but when I asked the hostess was it supposed to be that cold she picked up the plate and said "well the bottom of the plate is warm". Not trying to make a big stink out of it I asked her to simply put it in the microwave, she came back with a fresh order but now forgot my bacon smh, once I asked my waiter for my bacon, another server stood off to the side analyzing my plate like I'm gonna lie over bacon. “The service here was amazing. Once seated, Emily waisted no time ensuring we had all questions answered and promptly brought drinks out once we decided on what to order. When we ordered the food, the food was out within 10 minutes of us placing the order and tasted amazing. The atmosphere was calm and quiet with a variety of music playing. We sat on the patio with a nice breeze.“
“Easily the best BBQ I’ve had in quite some time. The brisket was melt in your mouth and the sauces (I tried all of them) complimented the meat so well. Can’t wait to go back and try the ribs. The table next to us ordered them and said they were top notch. We also had a large group with 6 children under 6 yo and ate in their dining room. Owner and staff took great care of us. “We order from toast often and have always had a good experience. My husband ordered take out over the phone and the toast employee taking the order was combative, rude and ultimately refused to allow us to pay over the phone. The manager, Hunter, got on the phone and processed the order. I went to pick up the order. Hunter brought the food to me and apologized several times. I appreciated how apologetic he was and how much he cared about fixing the situation . We got home and the chicken in our meal was raw. I called the restaurant and spoke to Hunter. He offered to deliver the meal to our house. Another manager dropped off the food to us and also apologized profusely. The management team at this location truly rectified this situation. I understand that things happen but I’m impressed with how quickly the management team made it right. Thank you, Hunter! Toast is lucky to have you!“
“Our dinner was perfect & the service was impeccable! Most of us got the specials, which were creative and well executed, but our daughter got the hanger steak and said it was the best she has ever had. We had a hard time deciding which dessert so we each got something and shared. The sticky pudding was my favorite of all! The ambiance was beautiful & comfortable. We highly recommend Shagbark!“

“Small restaurant attached to our hotel (Linden Row Inn). Perfect for late dinner after check in. Excellent service, good cocktails and the food was good as well. Husband loved his Fish and Chips. Two guests had the Smash-burger and said it was a bit dry. Could have used a special sauce. I had the autumn salad with shrimp. It hit the spot. Appetizers were excellent - fried oysters and green tomatoes were great.“

My friend and I dined there tonight and have only rave reviews. The atmosphere is 10/10: classy, cozy, and casual-chic. We tried the pork nachos (incredibly flavorful and original), Caesar salad, burger (possibly the BEST I’ve had in Richmond, which is also saying a lot), crabcakes, and tiramisu. Everything was so.freaking.good. Our server was friendly and service was prompt and accurate. We have friends who extol the virtues of their cocktails, but didn’t try one tonight. Each dish was nuanced, layered with flavor and texture. The crab cakes were indeed all crab, and the potato leek soup was absolute velvet, wonderful and creamy.
