Barboursville Vineyards Wineries • $$
17655 Winery Rd, Barboursville

“This is a large estate that produces very good examples of both red and white varietals and blends. We sampled the Chardonnay and their prmiere offering called Octagon, which is a classic Bordeaux blend. The name comes from the octagonal shaped library in the ruins of Governor Barbour's mansion which lie on the estate. Apparently it was designed by Thomas Jefferson whose favorite shape was the octagon. The mansion burned in the late 1800s and the ruins have been left as they were. The site was both scenic and peaceful. We observed two bald eagles circling above while we enjoyed our wine. There is also an impressive Italian restaurant on premises that we hope tou try if we ever get back that way again.“

“While vacationing in the area, we stopped at Burnley, which was the first of three planned winery visits. We did tastings of each wine. Wow wow wow. Delicious! We left with a case of wine. And needless to say, those other two stops were not necessary.“

“This is a busy, quaint Italian restaurant. It's very family friendly. Casual attire. Laid back. The quality of the food is definitely worth 4 stars. The pink sauce is amazing. A lot of options to choose from. Standard wait times. Appropriate quantity/quality for the prices. A great place to swing by if you're in the area. If you're ordering pasta though, order extra sauce they are a little skimpy on that.Parking: It's a busy area with many shops, the parking can be difficult at times but is normally pretty average.Kid-friendliness: Definitely kid friendly, booths, coloring books, booster seats ECT.Wheelchair accessibility: Easily accessible to handicapped.“

“Won't blow your mind but it's solid all around. I could def eat here weekly and be happy about it. Reasonable prices, decent draft beer selection, good service, and food is def a step up from chain restaurants. The wings are really good, and their blue cheese dressing (tastes homemade) is actually amazing.“
