“Penzo is a small pizza restaurant in the Inn at Montpelier. The dining area is in the front end of the Inn and has a nice cozy feel. We have been three times since moving to the area a month ago. Obviously we love it since we have been so many times already! We have had salads, pizzas, and the mushrooms appetizer. All have been great. Can't wait to try the spaghetti and meatballs!”

“We all agreed tonight that that we had a truly “world class” dining experience in central Vermont. The food was flavorful, exquisite and creatively prepared. The service the entire evening was impeccable. We loved our dining experience and we’ll be back!”
“Great food and great people! I wish the seating situation was a little less awkward, but we have learned to treat this place as our go too joint for on the run meals. We call in sandwiches from here anytime we are passing through Montpellier.”

“Love Bent Nail, music is always fun . I've never eaten there so I can't speak to the food. Last night the bar tender clearly wasnt paying any attention to who was waiting for drinks and when they arrived. It took her over 15 minutes to finally acknowledge me. Disappointed as usually thos hasn't been my experience.”
“After working here- I wouldn't recommend. First of all, employees don't recieve the credit card tips after being promised tips. Second of all, nothing is made in house except for the guacamole and pico. Not authentic mexican food of any sort. Canned enchilada sauce. Stuffed Polblano peppers come in a plastic bag. The owners have their own sauce they ask for on enchiladas. It tastes much better than what they serve the public. The owners Lu and David are dirty and steal tips from their employees who are Lu's own "people". Not to mention the place is far from up to health code!”

“Very very few vegetarian options. If you ask, you'll be told the tofu soups are vegetarian, but if you ask specifically about the broths, they are chicken or beef. "If you don't eat meat, these are okay, but if you're vegan, only this one." One of the coconut curry dishes is "real vegan", so hopefully you like that one thing. I'm not a fan of hot, salty coconut milk or uncooked tofu, unfortunately. In my experience, 2/3 Pho places have vegetarian broths and good veggie options, some don't. This one doesn't.Also, their boba options are basically tea or mango juice with tapioca balls added in. Not terrible, but not what we were hoping for/expecting.I'm told the beef pho was pretty good, and Sam seems like a kind man. Overall, the place seems popular, just not for me.Vegetarian options: One dish is "true vegan", the other "meatless" dishes are made with chicken or beef broth with tofu added. Nothing is labeled as vegetarian or not, you have to ask, and the answers are not very helpful or accurate.”

“We got takeout, but even after the 45 minute drive back our AirBnb--it was delicious. The food comes in huge portions per order and is priced reasonably for what you receive. We got two large orders of rice (that came with our food), butter chicken, mango lamb curry, coconut lamb curry, and a goat dish. The goat dish had a lot of bones which other reviews also state, but it was no issue for us. We also got two sides of vegetable samosas (one order = two samosas) and they were quite big. They were also very spicy! The spice level can be adjusted based on personal preference and we were all happy with our dishes. This was plenty of food for our group of 4 and we had leftovers.”

“Decided to stroll down the block and look for breakfast. Have done it many times and didn't find any. Saw the sign they were recently open. Was great. They even make the bread they serve in house. It's a must try when in Montpelier ”

“I was there at a particularly busy time (the day of the solar eclipse), so there was a long wait for both seats and food, but it was definitely worth it. The rare beef pho was delicious, as were the spicy beef and pork noodles. The bubble tea and Thai tea were also very good, and the few servers were very friendly. The ambiance was comfortable, and the overall experience was amazing.”

“So, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this place! With the help of the Owner, we hosted my Aunt's 61st bday at this location, even with about 40 people in the back. It was just perfect! The Servers were on top of it (to say the least), taking multiple orders, providing us with consistent apps for everyone to eat, letting us decorate! Even within the large crowd, they'd find the individuals and provide exactly what was asked for!The food was amazing as well! Hot fries, delicious wings, and tasty burgers!!! They even went out of their way to provide a cute cheese and cracker platter that wasn't on the menu! This place is just wonderful! Please come visit, please witness this great group of people and help support them! They truly deserve it!!!”

“The best kind of farm store - very close to town, tons of nice local gifts for sale, a nice area to sit and relax out back, and a delicious, perfectly textured, boldly flavored maple creemee! The staff were so nice to let me order off menu - the tiny cone was plenty of ice cream, and I was able to top it with cookie pieces instead of sprinkles to get extra flavor and a crunch texture!”

“The Wayside is consistently good! I had their fried whole belly clams, which aren't easy to come by near us, and they were excellent. The rolls and desserts are homemade and we enjoyed them very much!”
“Always a great hometown family feel type experience. The delicious smell of baked goods fills the street. I love the flavor of their breads, my personal favorite is The Manghi’s!Kid-friendliness: Kids can pop in and purchaseIndividual rolls after school.”

“This is a busy place and pastries sold out quickly. I would own a shop like this but not a place to hang for a while. The window seats are nice though to people watch. The price is reasonable actually for the town and locals running into local is very common. I tried my croissant and it’s not very crispy as I wanted. I would want it freakier. Coffee is very good though. If you want an afternoon pick me up, definitely go for one.Ambiance isn’t my vibe but for a quick stop yes. It’s a good place for parents with their ikea like decorating. Chairs and table are basic.Service is very friendly.”

“Today I fl celebrated my 50th birthday at my favorite restaurant in Vermont. Been lucky to have been eating fabulous meals at Sarducci’s since first visiting our family on a first trip to Montpelier. In 1998 we moved to Montpelier and made Sarduccis a weekly date. Our family grew, we continued our tradition and watched the kids go from car seats in the booths, to high chairs, to booster seats and now teenagers and young adults. Every time we had company, Sarduccis was our go to. We moved to Essex, but still made time for our favorite spot. Just recently, my husband and I made a special trip for a “just us two” date- happy to find the flood damage was not enough to keep them closed for long. Sadly, my husband Bryan died on August 12, 2023- but the memory of our last date together and him enjoying his meal will last forever. Thank you for years worth of memorable meals and we look toward to many more.”

“*Reviewing their new location at the former Black Door. After the flood, Hugo's has risen like a Phoenix in its reincarnation upstairs on Main in the old Black Door digs. This feels like a very good match. On a recent Thursday night, out dining with friends, every table was filed, the iconic bar flush with patrons, and live music seeped down from the third floor. The mood and menu seem well matched to the space's speakeasy bones. A bevy of curated cocktails paired with an inviting wine & beer list first commanded our attention, and our server was attentive yet patient as we perused the main menu. There are a number of directions I could have taken, ultimately settled on a roasted cauliflower salad with chickpeas. It was outstanding both in flavor, concept, and quantity. I am still thinking about it two weeks later. My friends enjoyed their meals too, though the steak my friend ordered for her salad came uncut on a side plate, without a steak knife. And another friend nearly finished her fries before ketchup was requested and delivered. But, all in all, a very auspicious beginning for the reinvented Hugo's. We sat in the front room, but peeking into the main dining room I saw a modest amount of tables bundled together. Missing was the velvet banquettes and rich jeweled interior decor of the Black Door, leaving the space feeling a little underwhelming. Perhaps something is planned for the near future to pull it all together. We enjoyed our meals, our company, and the energy of the space. I look forward to returning soon for a date night, tucked away in a table for two.”

“The food here is amazing. Lots of flavor and plenty of options. The service was great. We were the only ones in at the time, but our server was very attentive. The only "issue" if you can call it that, is just how empty feeling it can feel in here. The space is huge and when you're the only ones there, it can be a tad empty feeling. However, the food and service you get more than make up for the feeling. If you're looking for fantastic Chinese food, I highly recommend this place.Parking: We came in the winter, so parking was a bit tougher to get in and out of, but there is planety of parking.”

“Ksherpa has the best biryani I've ever eaten, with generous chunks of tender, delicious lamb. The Tandoori chicken plate was HUGE and perfectly prepared. Naan, samosas, and papadum were all outstanding as well. Even the service was great. I can't wait for my next excuse to go to Montpelier so I can try their other dishes!”

“It was rather busy on account of the eclipse, but thankfully we got in early enough to catch a 40 min wait time for a table. Despite the rush, we got our delicious food and beverages in a timely manner. Everything tasted so good. We had the Korean BBQ crepe and a Veggie Monster, as well as an order of poutine. I think my only detractor would be that the portion on the poutine was disappointingly small for $13 (it used to be much bigger). Very tasty, for sure, but if you’re trying to get a big bang for your buck, then spend that money on a different dish. Otherwise, I thought the service was very good considering how slammed they wereVegetarian options: Creative, flavorful, and rather filling”

“Wilaiwans is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at! The food is consistently amazing - rich, complex flavors, fresh healthy ingredients, somehow combining a heartiness with a lightness in one close to perfect culinary package. It’s worth a trip to Montpelier for lunch on a weekday to try a dish here. It is pretty spicy but never so much (for my taste) that the spice overwhelms the flavors. Just the right amount of spice in my book but for those who shy away from spicy food, this is probably not the place for you.”
