“Amazing food and comfortable environment. The spice levels are just right and the flavors are spot on. Others in the area have dishes they excel at, but these folks excel at every dish we’ve tried.“

“We love this place, really delicious Indian food in a quaint environment. We’ve been twice already, making our way down the vegetarian offerings, the garlic naan sops up the sauces perfectly. Hubs says their palak paneer is the best he’s had. Every single thing we’ve tried has been exceptional. The rice pudding for dessert was great as well. We especially love that it’s not a fussy space, we can roll up in workout clothes. Ready to visit again soon!“

“Are you sick of the same ol’ same ol’ pizza? Do you love Indian food? Well then this might just be your place. While they do offer the classics for those not looking for something new, for everyone else there is an amazing collection of Indian fusion pizzas. Of course they have a chicken tikka pizza, but that’s just the beginning. Just check out the menu and tell me you’re not compelled to give this place a try. We ordered the tandoori paneer pizza and the vegan Punjabi garlic breadsticks. And the verdict… Holy crap! Drop what you’re doing and get over here. Best breadsticks I’ve had in a very long time, if ever. Very bold flavors, chewy, delicious. And the pizza, while the flavors were more subtle, they were deliciously complex. I’m excited to return to explore the menu further. Do yourself a favor and get over here now.“

“I love this place - There was a guy I hadn't seen before working tonight and he stopped midway through making my lamb curry to check and give me a spice/salt level test. The guy who I usually see did the same thing before I started regularly visiting and he got to know my levels - These guys care about making their customers into regulars and you can tell that they're proud of what they do. As expected with this level of personalized service and care, the food is out out of this world and is my go-to for a cold rainy day - Luckily we have lots of them! Get the lamb curry - The lamb chunks are spoon tender, the curry is spiced perfectly and the rice is fluffy and aromatic!“

“Super quality Indian food. I got the keebab combo, lamb samosa, pappadum, garlic naan, lamb biryani, and butter chicken. All the food was really flavorable and well made. The lamb in the biryani was very tender. This place has some of the best mint chutney ive had at an indian place. Overall great.“

“The food here is great. We got methi curry, biryani and samosa chaat. Methi curry and samosa chaat were 10/10. Biryani has no particular issue but there is better biryani in Hillsboro. No issues though .. will definitely come back again!!!
There was a huge delay for our order before it was ready .. but better taste made up for it ..“

“I got the Aloo Saag(spicy)and some veggie samosas. And holy wow, was it delicious. The mint chutney is on point and I think the samosas were dusted with black salt, which totally elevated them to another realm of tasty. The Staff was super nice also, a bonus.“

“Went there for valentine day dinner on Friday night with 8:30 reservation. It took 10 minutes to get a menu and another 10 minutes to place our order. By 9:00, before our food arrived, most other patrons had left and the staff started cleaning up, banging dishes into tubs, putting chairs away, generally closing shop. Our food came and was really good as always, but the check was dropped faster than the menus had been given! After our first drinks, we weren't able to order another round as bar closed at 9:00. Then we were told the kitchen had closed and desert wasn't available. We asked when they close and the waiter said 9:00. It was 9:26, not even an hour after we arrived. We left having eaten well but very unhappy with the service for a special night out. Adding to the insult was walking past many other restaurants still open and going strong - Of course, because it was just 9:35 on a Friday and Valentines day!“

“The flavors here are truly remarkable! The rich, aromatic chicken Goa curry with rice strikes the perfect balance of spice and comfort. The aloo kulcha is soft, generously stuffed, and bursting with flavor, while the lamb wrap is a standout with its tender, juicy filling and bold spices. Every dish feels like a celebration of authentic, heartfelt cooking!“

“Super cute new lunch spot (well, lunch for me, but I do see that they do breakfast as well). I was the only one in there and the folks behind the counter offered me a sample of their taco bomb, even though I was very happy with my choice of bowl. Who doesn't love samples? Really nice clean eating area in front of the big glass windows so the sun comes streaming in. Can't go wrong!“

“Dietary restrictions: I love how they have gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options. Their menu was so useful. We had some delicious Tikka Masala and samosas. The garlic naan was also very good. Portions were big and we had enough for leftovers which is a big plus to us. Highly recommend!“

“I enjoyed the lamb Kathi roll, the spices were on point and the naan bread soft and delicious. However, I was pretty shocked that it came only in tin foil. I would’ve expected it to be wrapped in paper and then tinfoil to make it easier to eat, and also prevent accidentally eating a piece of tinfoil, which is incredibly toxic.“

“Shocked to see so many negative reviews, honestly. My SO got lamb vindaloo and a mango lassi from this cart and thought it was an absolute banger of a meal. It looked great to me—really thick, rich sauce and lots of nice, juicy looking chunks of lamb with a healthy portion of fluffy rice. Great price and portion because he had some to take home for later, as he could not finish the whole thing! I watched him get his order taken and the guy at the counter seemed lovely.“

“I sample some chicken marsala two weeks ago a friend had. I placed a to go order while I was on my lunch. I sampled everything once I got back to work. IT WAS SOOOOO DELICIOUS AND EXTREMELY WELL SEASONED. The food was sooo good when I got home from work; I heated up more of it. DANG IT!!! Was just as good as the first bite. I was up at 2:22 am finishing off the rest. Justin was amazing and has the best food selection advice. Please visit. I swear you won't be disappointed. Signed Tenise“

“Came here for lunch with s coworker. Fantastic authentic cuisine. Portions were extremely small for the price point. I paid 27 dollars for lamb tika masala and a garlic naan- entree came out in a container holding no more than 12oz combined of sauce and 5 chunks of lamb. Naan was delicious but thin and not much substance.
Not good bang for the buck at all, but good food with good service and a nice environment.
If you're hungry, youre gonna be ordering 2 entrees and be out 50 bucks, which is egregious for Indian food, regardless of quality.“

“Highly recommended! Yummy hand made momos, feels very authentic from the Himalayas. Their chole puri is a must have, the chickpeas are so well cooked and super tasty! We stop by anytime we visit Portland. It is the warmth of the people who run the place that makes the food so delicious.“

“Been going for 3 years. It was the first restaurant I went to once I got my first paycheck when I moved into a nearby studio. I've compared every other Indian restaurant to Swagat ever since. I even went vegetarian in the past year and it's still the best. Their lunch thali is unbeatable.“

“We came here on a whim because we were in the neighborhood and wanted Indian food. Our experience was seriously amazing!
The service was so good - very warm and personal. The ambiance was very cozy.
And the food was just the bomb dot com.
We got three types of naan, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, and a veggie masala. All of the food was absolutely delicious. We will be back for sure.“

“Had occasion to stop by for an early dinner last night. This was my first visit to Namaste, but definitely won't be my last.
Namaste is an informal, casual, no frills Indian buffet restaurant. When I arrived, a friendly young woman greeted me as I entered the dining area, showed me to my table, and placed a pitcher of ice water and a glass on the table. She asked if I wanted something else to drink (I didn't), and left me to my own devices.
My understanding is that this is an all you can eat Indian buffet restaurant. I don't think there's any alternative to the buffet option. Cost is $20. That being said, the buffet selection is impressive. I've eaten at a number of Indian restaurants with a buffet option (usually just at lunch), but this place has the largest selection I've ever seen. It's essentially divided into two adjacent areas, one with a salad, condiments and chutney section, the other with a large selection of hot meat and vegetarian options. They also had 4 large containers of various basmati rice renditions. Even though I was here at around 4:45 (buffet hours are from 11 am to 9 pm), the buffet area was clean with plenty of food (the staff are very good about replenishing the trays). Everything tasted very fresh and flavorful to me, and the cucumber yogurt sauce (raita?) was excellent. I ate two plates of food and had to stop after that (tried to eat a third plate, but just couldn't do it). There's also plenty of bread and a soft ice cream machine, but I couldn't eat anything else.
For me this place was perfect. I liked the no frills atmosphere and being left to my own devices. The food was good, there was plenty of variety, and everything tasted fresh and well seasoned. I'll be back.“

“Was initially a little hesitant to order here based on reviews. I was close by and they were opening soon, so decided to give them a shot. Ordered malai kofta and palak panner. Both tasted great, and I had no issues. Piping hot! I had a wait a bit, but didn’t mind to. Seating area was clean. Your wallet would be happy with the portion size too.“

“Tl:Dr: Tasty food, unpretentious atmosphere and, my personal favorite: ALL DAY BUFFET!
I am not a "foodie." I eat a lot of chicken, including fast food and stuff like that. That said, a good Indian buffet is one of my favorite meals.
Last time I was in Portland, in June, I had hoped to get some Chicken Tikka Masala from another restaurant downtown, but missed their lunch time. I was disappointed, but already had dinner plans and figured I'd just get Indian next time...
Since then, I have been to Seattle, Vancouver, New York, Chicago... Heck, even Fort Wayne, Indiana, and every time I have sought my chicken curry, I was thwarted, sometimes because my traveling companion was craving something else (Not complaining I also love the Xiaolongbao, or the Street Tacos, and there are only like 5 Nando's chicken places in North America).
Let me tell you, these last few months have been a journey.
I have gotten my boss fired, hired a staff, set up and taken down several different tents, negotiated contracts, drafted policies, written many lists (some longer than this one). I dug ditches, drank with jugglers, and cleaned windows. I have performed on stage, conversed with a raven, grieved over terrible loss and celebrated great triumph. I drove across the country and flew back the other way with a box-cutter in my carryon. I slept in nice hotels, rest stops in the Rockies, in a tent on the ground, under a bridge, in my own bed, and even dozed off a little in a South Dakota jail.
So, after all that, and after successfully completing the ambitious, stressful, arduous, but ultimately extremely rewarding professional obligation that had me running all over the continent like that, I found myself alone, with 24 hours in Portland before my flight home to New York.
I looked on this app for an Indian buffet, knowing that my Uber in from the suburbs would drop me off too late for most. I found this one and saw the all-day buffet.
I picked my lodging based on the location of this restaurant. I don't usually stay in an Airbnb, especially in a beautiful residential neighborhood like Irvington because I have seen what has happened in places like New Orleans, but... I tried to find one with a local owner at least... It is lovely, I am there now writing this.
Anyhow, my ride dropped me off, I collapsed on the couch of this beautiful apartment that's mine for a day, luggage still strapped to my shoulders, and stared for about forty-five minutes until the ibuprofen kicked in. Then I make my way to a nearby dispensary to avail myself of another indulgence I have also been without, albeit this one only for a few days. On the way out of the dispensary I was engaged in a surprising conversation about the nature of being and language and the universe with a colorful local, who I dearly hope is able to get the help he clearly needs.
I took a long walk around the neighborhood until I found myself at my destination, feeling like Campbell's hero, returning from the underworld; like Ulysses standing at the gate of his home, having left it behind so long ago, and, though it was unfamiliar, opened the door and stepped inside.
Incidentally, I was pretty stoned at this point. A fact which certainly, and somewhat embarrassingly for me, was not lost on the staff.
The place was pretty modestly appointed, with the buffet and counter running diagonally, some booths and a few four-tops and a light-up menu board offering a pretty basic a la carte menu and, finally, The all-day buffet for $20.
There were a couple of patrons there, and one or two others came in for the buffet as I was eating, but even though it was kinda between lunch and dinner, like 4PM, the food all seemed fresh and it was all very good. Maybe the Samosas and Naan bread could have been fresher, I guess. ...but I“
