“It's a bar, so have realistic expectations. I've been here before but it's been a few years.The burgers were good, but nothing spectacular. They ran out of fish for Friday night fish fry. This was during lent and we dined around 8pm so it was no real surprise and wasn't a deal breaker.Service was great. The server was very attentive and apologized for the lack of fish fry. She gave my friend a nice discount on the regular cod meal so he was more than satisfied.Atmosphere is basically standard bar. It wasn't too loud and not super busy when we were there. Overall a good experience and I would go back.“

“Why the heck haven't I sopped by here before... this is the question you should be asking yourself. My Pop said he'd stopped for Fish Fry a few months back and said it was really good. So we were headed home - realized there wasn't anything in the fridge... thinking my Pop said the place was decent. Boy Howdy -Shazam... great burgers... I ordered mine medium rare and it was perfectly cooked. Wonderful mushroom bacon Swiss burger. “Coming in at 8pm on Friday was the perfect time. Appetizers are around 6$ each (x3). dinners less than 15$ each (x2). And 4 cans of beer the bill wasn't even 60$. I'm impressed and would gladly come back. The fish fry was excellent, shrimp was excellent. And the coleslaw paired well to the fish! “This place has wonderful food and great drinks. Service was reasonably prompt and pleasant, food was delicious, drinks equally great. My only downside is expectations. When your times state 10:30 close, I expect 10:30 close. Instead, at 9:50 our table was told “We’re closing, but no rush, are you ready for the check?” This indeed insinuates that we should head out now. 40 min earlier than the advertised close. While finishing our drinks, all table’s chairs were being placed on the tables, a clear indication of closing. All tables chairs were on the tables except ours by 10pm. I totally understand a slow night, but as a manger, one should set expectations for customers regardless of current customer level. Instead they should set time for 10pm if this indeed is their existing typical closing time. Set a time, and stick to it. Again, food was delicious, from burger to cheese curds, it was all great. Please reevaluate your timings to align with your expectations. Nonetheless, thank you for the evening.“

“Friday Night Fish Fry Wife did not want battered fish and they have excellent alternate. She got the salmon and salad and looking at the menu- what did I see but mussels. These are some of the best I have had since being out on the East Coast. The potatoes in with the mussels with an extra surprise. Great service“

“It's my local! We moved to Belleville August of 2021, and I adore this place. Was made welcome almost immediately. Great food, great people. I strongly suggest any of the burgers, the Reuben when it's 'in season' (starts at St Patrick's day, goes til they're tired of making it), Thursday night nachos, Wednesday s'ghetti. Biscuits and Gravy that can make a Southerner cry (happily)! They don't take cards, but there's an ATM in the corner. Lots of alcohol choices to boot.“

“THE BEST fish fry I have ever had!The fish is superb. Three of five of us had a more than ample serving of the walleye, baked potato & cole slaw & all agreed it was great. The Friday night atmosphere is CROWDED, busy & the cacophony such that conversation is impossible. The prices are reasonable. The bartender is aloof, difficult to flag down & challenged by a simple register transaction. The cook is non-stop busy with all of the orders. “Stopped after a game in hopes to find a little less crowded place vs. the bars near the Kohl center, good choice! Has that dive bar vibe, loved it! The service was great and the crowd was friendly. The food looked great but we didn't eat this time. They cook everything in the open right behind the bar. “I was visiting from Milwaukee and came here with a friend. It was one of few establishments open at the time in East Madison. The bartender was super friendly and made a great Old Fashioned. He gave some history of the building as well as a free drink chip for the next time I'm in town. I would definitely patron this place again!“

I got seasoned and they were just right. Parking out back or on the street. My only complaint was the menu was on the wall behind the bar and hard to read.“

“If you love sports and have kids, this is a great place to eat and have the kids entertained. They have a basketball gym I believe is for booking, so lots for the kids to do. Food is great and beer selection is nice as well. Service is always on point and the radio always has good music playing. Never too loud or too low. Always the biggest hits.“

Speaking as a true Madisonian, they probably have the overall second best burger in Madison (first is Caribou Tavern on Johnson St - get ). Anywho, the bartenders Jenn and her husband Logan are dope! They are "people-people". The older dude Jason is cool too and real good at his job. All in all, great food! Especially since they have limited equipment to work with, as far as a "kitchen". GREAT DRINKS / great drink prices. Cool bartenders whom are good at their jobs. The one and only down fall of Licari's is this guy Austin. Guy sucks at his job lmao. You order a brat and it never comes... order wings with ranch and buffalo and you never get the sauces. There's never a time where he doesn't mess up the order. In fact, I play a game now every time I go where I order a simple drink and a simple food menu item and he never fails to mess it up in some way. It's just hilarious at this point. In conclusion, go to Licari's! Good drinks and food + activities like darts, gaming machines, and pull tabs!! Fun spot no doubt. Just make sure anyone other than Austin serves you (laughing but serious).“

“Lots of tables. Half are sit down, half are bar height. Multiple TVs on every wall. Plenty of beers on tap, covering the spectrum from big name to craft. Came here for the fish. They have 2 or 3 piece cod. Cod is planks, batter is fairly light. Seemed a bit dry. Good tartar sauce. Battered fries were good. Coleslaw was creamy and good. 3 piece cod and soda ruined a $20 bill, but that is normal, now. Service was friendly and quick.“

“Everything about Tipsy Cow is amazing! The food, service, and atmosphere is wonderful! We got the goat cheese curds and OMG they were so delicious! And my family all got the cheeseburger, it was so delicious as well! All the food tasted so fresh, especially the cheddar on the burger. They have a bar, and a dining room. We sat in the dining room, and it had a lovely cozy vibe. Our server was very nice, and we got our food very quickly! We’ll definitely be coming here next time we’re visiting Madison! “The Tiki is a great place to have a drink and watch the sunset over Lake Monona. It's a beautiful lakefront property, like a big back yard. The bar is full service. Food is available, usually on Friday and weekends. Military fundraiser, burgers, brats are there, sometimes a food cart. They also have occasional live music. A schedule is available online. I would not go back just for the fish, though.It was surprisingly loud even though there was not a local game on. “Fun country bar between Oregon and Evansville. I've been coming here for over 5 years now with my boyfriend, he's been going there for way longer and knows a decent amount of the people that come in. On Wednesday nights he shoots pool on the White Rock team during pool season, they just won again. Dave is the current owner, he keeps his bar clean and well stocked, often mingles with his customers. I come out usually on some Wednesday nights and sometimes every other weekend as we are friends with the bartender Kassandra. Wednesday nights the bar is usually hopping with the regulars and the pool team, some of them enjoying the gambling machines. Weekends you can find a younger crowd all hanging around having a good time, shooting pool or playing darts. If you come by often enough you will quickly fall in love with that neighborhood bar feel.“

“Every time I visit here, I witness how all the bartenders, servers and cooks work so hard especially Nichole, Alley and Artie. Even during the busy happy hour time, they are polite and always looking out for you. All you have to do is be patient and they will get to you. It's hard to find parking during happy hour but their specials are hard to beat.“

“Lots has already been said about this place, but a couple things that I haven't seen as much--1. It is very dark in the dining room and the bulbs are pink/red. Like, I wanted a good look at my burger after I cut it in half to check out the toppings, and I had to turn on my phone's flashlight.2. The menu says that all burgers are cooked to medium unless specified otherwise, but mine arrived with no pink.3. There aren't any seating options that aren't barrel style chairs or booths. The barstools are the same as the chairs, just higher.It's good! I'll go back when I'm in the neighborhood at an off peak time.“

Turns out it was a mix up in the kitchen. It really wasn't a big issue but they comped her meal and upgraded it for free. The cook came out and apologized for the mistake. It's sister restaurant, the Statehouse, is a high end eatery with fabulous views of Lake Mendota.Augie's was named after long time owner of the hotel, who was jovial and friendly with patrons. I found this spot, certainly the bar, still seating talkative and genuine friendly folks.We came here on Thanksgiving Day, and enjoyed local brews (Spotted Cow) and a tasty Bloody Mary. PIC had the turkey dinner, and at $26, was a big MEH. It was all dark meat that was fatty, semi-good mashed potatoes and dressing and sprouts. Pumpkin pie was likely frozen. However, I had their Augie's burger, and at $18, it was a steal!! Two smashed patties, smokey strips of bacon, cheese, lettuce, REAL tomato, onions and drippy-but-yum aioli and crispy hand cut fries- I finished that baby off with pleasure!Patrons at the bar included locals and hotel guests, who clued us in to their Friday fish fry. Unfortunately, it was Thursday, so no dice. But... the fry includes marble rye, coleslaw, fries, tartar sauce, and cod for $18. And, there's a kid-size fish fry for $9. (I think they also have perch, for an up charge.)Both bartenders were very kind and efficient, especially for having to work on a holiday.There is free street parking a block away, or underground parking for a charge.Augie's is two blocks from the Capitol Building, and has large picture windows, looking out into the neighborhood. The upscale Statehouse restaurant is adjacent, with water views, but if you are looking for something more casual, Augie's is the spot!Side note... they had Clock Shadow fried cheese curds and eight different beers, all from WI local businesses.“
