Uncover Sturtevant's Mexican dining scene with Restaurantji's insights.
“This was the first time coming here and we were not disappointed! There was one guy running the whole place and he did an incredible job doing everything. Literally everything by himself. The food was great and reasonably priced. Definitely would come back!“
“Yes, I'm leaving a 5 star review for a Taco Bell. This place opened up during COVID and it has struggled ever since. Food was typical Taco Bell, but sometimes ya just gotta have the Bell. Service and the dining area was always iffy at best.We ordered online a set of meals and sides yesterday to feed a group. We got there, the food was ready on time, everything was as ordered. Everything was separated, labeled and grouped together by meal, and it was bagged in such a way that it was easy to carry. The people there were actually friendly and talked to us too.In other words, for a Taco Bell, the service was outstanding. When a place has been struggling and suddenly steps it up, it's good to give them a compliment. Here's your 5 star.“
“Delicious Socal rolls and potstickers! Went there for an appetizer with my favorite person (my husband) and it was delicious! The chips are hot, the Socal rolls were creamy with a nice blend of chicken, corns and beans with cream cheese. And the potstickers were very good. Joe was a great bartender and very friendly. We will be back!Dietary restrictions: GF“
“I’ve tried everything from their shrimp cocktail (my favorite in town), their chimichangas, to their enchiladas. It’s my go to for a quick lunch or a nice diner with family. All the staff is very friendly and I’m happy Racine has this gem in town.“
“My first visit & I was not disappointed! I was in awe of Javier’s Cuisine. Fabulous & attentive staff. Table side Homemade Guacamole, Tortilla Soup, & Chile Rellenos = DELICIOUSNESS. I already have several more items on the menu I am eager to enjoy. Can’t wait to return! I highly recommend!!“
“We had them for the past week trying everything on the menu. 20 tacos or 5 plates ground beef fried is 35. Which is a very good deal. Plus taste good. The regular steak, chicken, pastor, are 3 for 9. the 10 dallor steak burrito is massive. I would get that before the increase the price. The 3 sopas for 14 is the wife's favorite. I dont remember the name fore the burger sopa, but that is pretty good as well. I will take pics next time of the food before eating it all.“
“Incredible food every time. Great service as well and very kind staff. They are always quick to get you your food and never disappoint in flavor. They offer a great variety of dishes from multiple taco types, tamales, to a quesabirria pizza. We have enjoyed everything we eat here. The agua frescas are always delicious as well and they offer a seasonal variety of great flavors. Would recommend everyone who loves tacos stop here.“
“Was able to finally eat at Jaramillo’s Home Cook’n food was very, very good. Atmosphere was very nice! While eating I was able to watch a good show just like I was at home! Owners very nice had good conversation with both while we were visiting. Definitely can’t wait to go back! Great job guys and thanks for the good lunch!!!“
“Went after enjoying the eclipse. About 230 pm it was happy hour. 5$ margaritas 6# fried ice cream which was enough for all 4 of us and delicious! Accepted my service animal. Wonderful service food and atmosphere! Highly recommend. A lil pricey but worth it!“
“One of our favorite restaurants to get Mexican food from that is close by and in our neighborhood. The food is ALWAYS delicious! The service was incredible. Super friendly and helpful. We got our food to go. It was last minute, so I had to wait… but didn’t care. I looked around at all the fun and interesting items in the store part of La Tapatia. They have everything from beer, to milk, to produce, and more choices of hot sauce than I have ever seen! It makes sense to call in your order, so it is ready when you get there. I highly recommend La Tapatia!!!“
“How did I never hear about this place?!!!!! I work out at Planet Fitness in Kenosha and happened to just want breakfast that wasn’t McDonald’s and google maps took me here.Let me start by saying the parking is a little tricky but when your restaurant is on basically the busiest street in Kenosha it’s expected. I walked in and was immediately welcomed by the hostess/server, Mable. She could tell it was my first time walking into there and she was so kind and helpful and surprisingly energetic and friendly for it being in the morning.I got the cheese omelette and the full biscuits and gravy. I ordered too much but honestly for the low price I thought it would be small portions. See photos below- that is a ton of sausage gravy and I love that. For $15 I had enough to feed two people! What a great deal. And then I find out they also make Mexican food there in addition to awesome breakfast! This is gonna be my new favorite spot as I love Mexican food and I love breakfast! And the service is amazing. Mable knew her guests by name and she was able to tell me the story of how they’ve been in Kenosha for over 30 years? I’ve been in Kenosha for just about 25 years and I never seen or heard of this place. But I already told my mother about it and I’m gonna bring my kids here when they visit. Such a warm and welcoming environment. I’m really surprised they weren’t busier but it’s Tuesday- ooh by the way they have Tuesday Taco specials. I can’t say enough about the breakfast I’m currently enjoying and I can’t wait to try more of their food. At these prices I could definitely make this a weekly destination, maybe even twice a week? We’ll see.Anyone reading this give them a shot. It will totally be worth it. They’re a little tricky to get to, your best bet is to take Pershing to 41st Ave to avoid the 75th st and 39th Ave nightmare. But it’s totally worth the trip. This was definitely a happy accident that I found this place: great food, great service, and close to home! Perfect combo. I can’t say enough that everyone should try this place!“
“Have been a loyal customer for 8+ years and usually get the same thing every time(chicken fajita wrap, no lettuce, plus giardinera). However, I recently went for lunch with my Grandmother, Aunt, and Cousin, and - wow!!!! I was missing out. The Birria is where it's at!!!!!! The ramen, quesadilla, and tacos were all so flavorful, filing, and fresh. This is a family favorite and always a great meal.“
“Went here on the recommendation of a coworker. Had the fish fry, which was good. Everyone enjoyed themselves. It was clean, well kept. The service was fast, even though the place was packed. Very casual dining environment is the only thing I'd say to be aware of if you haven't been here before, not fancy, but good food and comfortable.“
“My family and I had a private party here and it was exceptional! Food, drinks, and service was top notch. We highly recommend to anyone who is thinking about hosting a party, or just having lunch/dinner here. I can say with confidence that we will be back again!“
“Best tacos! Everything is so good. Employees are very friendly and helpful. The food is delicious, and you can get ice cream treats and drinks as well. The atmosphere is so cheerful and cozy.Pay is cash only but there is an ATM at the bank nearby. Prices are great, you get good value for your money.“
“I love the food here. It's way better than any of these taco trucks trying to pull off good food. This the only place I will get food from! Absolutely delicious. Not over priced at all.Vegetarian options: I get the taco dinner that's vegetarian and it's delicious!“
“This was our first time trying ixtapan. My office and I ordered here for lunch today, unfortunately two of our orders were messed up but the guy went above and beyond to fix them.He personally delivered both orders to our office within 20 minutes of placing the call. With free elote! Definitely will be back!! Everyone in our office was satisfied with their lunch! Amazing customer service.“
“The employee's are very nice. Made a mistake on my order and fixed it within a minute. I love this place! Better than any other texmex place I've been in Kenosha. Tacos and chicken enchiladas are my favorites and burritos are great also.“
“AMAZING!!! I have been having a HARD time finding a good flavorful Mexican restaurant in Kenosha (especially coming from Waukegan where there are good Mexican spots everywhere) and I was soooo impressed here! Flavorful food and their spicy red hot sauce is bomb!! Highly highly recommend 10/10!Customer service 10/10 they were all so sweet inside as well! Very family oriented (: let’s support this local business!“
“Went here for my birthday and the food was amazing, service wasn’t that good but wasn’t bad enough to complain about it lol anyway best Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been toVegetarian options: Good amount of optionsDietary restrictions: NoParking: Parking was decent but can be difficult if the place is packed and this place has great food so you be the judge lolKid-friendliness: Yes“
“The food is very good. Very authentic Mexican. However one time I ordered it delivery and they messed up on my order and they wanted the food back that I had already ate one taco. I thought that was kind of strange. However, other than that it was very good food every time.“
“The food was great. My brother and I weee in the area on a fishing trip. We were looking for Restaurants in close to us, and found this place. The service was great and the margaritas were excellent. I will go back there next time I’m in the area.“
“We often get carry out from Pico's and are always happy with our choices. The Tacos del Rio is my absolute favorite, with flavorful steak, black beans, Pico, and avocado. My husband often enjoys the quesabirrias tacos. Their chips are extra when ordering to go, but well worth the purchase. We have only dined in once, so I can't speak to the service inside, but when picking up they are always prompt and have our order ready in the time stated. We will continue to order from them!“
“This was my first time visiting this establishment. I am pleasantly surprised. This is a hidden gem! The food is great and the leftovers taste even better. The portion sizes are large enough for two people. Next time we're sharing. The ceviche is amazing, I just wish they gave seconds (lol).Parking: There is parking in front of the restaurant and on the side of the restaurant.Kid-friendliness: There is a kids' section on the menu.Wheelchair accessibility: There's only one level making it easy for those in a wheelchair to enter in.“
“We went here for a work breakfast meeting and I was very surprised on how good the food was. I was not expecting the food to taste as good as it did. Not the largest diner, but I would stop back for the food again! Also, grab a shake on your way out!“
“It's nice to be here eating, enjoying a good beer and listening to the beautiful Latin melodies.Being here makes me feel at home and in my country. The attention is excellent. Thank youParking: Easy to get to and it is very pleasant to be here in this place.“
“Me and my Husband recently found out about this amazing place and if you want authentic Mexican cooking that's exactly what you will get. It made me emotional because it's reminded me of my grandma kitchen and the food was by far the best I've ever had. I leave extremely full and the food is fresh, hot and delicious. The cook are too older women Tere and Reyna and I have fell absolutely in love with there cooking. They never forget a customer and even make empanadas that are great snack to take home.My favorite are the chicken enchiladas I go crazy for the red sauce no one has made it as good or even close. The waiters are awesome always the boys are always a great conversation and get what I need right away. Go easy on the girl she does smile and will get the hang of the job.(Never know what a person going thru so be nice) But a 30 minute drive is always worth it. This is our favorite place and we try a new place everytime we decide to dine but now can't stop coming back for more. so from illinois and wisconsin this is our #1 spot and we'll worth it so glad it ain't far but I drive hours for the food!“
“FOUND MY NEW FAVORITE MEXICAN RESTAURANT! And I don't review in all caps ever. Absolutely amazing. Food was so authentic with pages and pages to choose from and not just food but drinks as well. Servers and not just ours were all cue. Always asking if we needed anything and how everything was. I felt in Narnia with the menu so finally asked our server, Peto who wad outstanding, to pick for me and cldnt have been happier. There was live music which originally I thot was a bit loud but we were able to talk and hear each other fine. Will absolutely be back leaving all our other Mexican restaurants behind. Oh and was shock that one of the 3 salsas they bring to the table with the chips was zucchini salsa. So delicious. They nailed the atmosphere, food, drinks along with outdoor seating for summer with lights. They have 2 clear garage doors to open so inside the restaurant flows with the outdoor seating area. Can't wait for the weather to warm up! You're missing out if you pass by and don't stop for a drink at their bar or a meal.“
“Enjoyed flavorful chicken fajita with great tomatoes and onions. Slight extra seasoning, but okay. Delicious rice and beans. Salsa on the side had a nice spice. The molcajete is excellent, serving very hot. Plan accordingly. Service was great! the atmosphere was pleasant!“
“Love this place, it's delicious and they are so friendly! We recently did 1 steak burrito with 4 shrimp tacos to share for 2 people, Mexican surf n turf, it was yummy and the perfect amount of food! We order for pickup frequently and they have not made a mistake on an order!!“
“Tacos el Norte is our go-to on Tuesdays. Everything on the menu is good and flavorful. The staff is very friendly and it's family-run. We never have to wait very long for our food and they always get our food order right. They even suggested things for us to try off the menu, and they didn't disappoint. Dine-in or take-out, we are so happy to have found this place. Don't let the strip mall area fool you, this is a gem“
“This place definitely deserves a 5 star. They are very consistent. Always open & The food is always good. My families favorites are the tacos and fish dinners. They never mess up on orders and they are extremely patient, even when they get rude customers. Definitely a super positive and great small business in our community. I also love the improvements they've made to the location recently and I will happily continue to support them.“
“We love having lunch here! I am a huge fan of their guacamole and fajitas. The service is always top notch. We have used Los Compadres for catering events as well. Everything came packaged perfectly, warm and ready to serve. Highly recommended.“
“I love this place!! I always try something new and well I just love it all, their corns are the best in town! ask for extra toppings or a bigger tray! I added hot Cheetos on mine and they were so good! I had to upload their current menu as I had a hard time finding it here but I definitely recommend their food!“
“Great little taco truck! I had seen the truck for a while and decided to stop one day. I'm far from disappointed. The tacos were delicious and the staff were incredibly friendly. I ordered a rather large order. 10 beef tacos and 10 chicken. Lets just say they didn't all make it home. When I can I enjoy helping small businesses. The 2 employees I met seemed young and hard working. Do yourself a favor and stop in, you won't regret it.“
“I was looking to grab a quick bite while waiting for my kid’s practice at the R.E.A.L. School to finish, and this place was perfect! Food was served quickly, it’s delicious and affordable. My server Alexis was a delight. Definitely try the Birria tacos or the Birriadilla, so flavorful! ☺️ Will definitely be back. Don’t let the fact that it’s in a Super8 parking lot deter you. It’s the real deal Mexican food.Kid-friendliness: Definitely a kid and family friendly place!“
