Restaurantji unveils Cudahy's must-visit Mexican dining spots.
“Owner operated local business. Margarita specials and the menu offers some Mexican flare, grilled cheese, "Love in a Bowl"... Homeade cheesecake of the month for dessert. Both Monthly and Daily drink specials and they make a mean margaritaParking: Both parking behind the restaurant as well as on the street out front“
“Welcome to Flavor Heaven! From the Margaritas to the authenticity of the food - you will not leave disappointed. I was recommended this place by my in-laws and LaLa’s definitely lived up to the hype.I went for the first time during lunch time (had 3 Enchiladas Dinner with Al Pastor Meat, Green Sauce, and (2) strawberry margaritas). My Sister In Law Had (3 Taco Dinner with steak meat, guacamole + chips, (2) Margaritas ). I wouldn’t judge the tacos by the picture alone as my sister law has to make special request for her dietary restrictions. But she did say her food was just as delicious as mine. I would have scraped the plate clean if I already hadn’t almost try to hurt myself to make it to the last bite with a full on food baby - as it was that good.Again, Would Highly Recommend! I’ll definitely be returning!“
“New owners still getting their feet grounded. Sort of an unusual place. Mexican and Thai food. Talked with the owner, a very nice guy. They are still experimenting with the menu choices, based on the customer preferences. We would dine again.“
“I went for the first time yesterday, and it was delicious. You order from the counter and friendly staff walks the food out to you. I had the nachos and the three taco plate with rice and beans and I was 100% satisfied. Will definitely be returning.“
“My husband and I love everything about this place. The food is so delicious, consisting of big portions and authentic recipes. We’ve also always had wonderful wait staff who are quick and responsive to our needs. I would highly recommend Azteca.“
“Antigua Latin Inspired Kitchen in West Allis is a culinary gem offering exceptional food, cocktails, and service. From savory empanadas to tender carne asada, each dish celebrates Latin flavors with finesse. The cocktails, expertly crafted, add a delightful touch to the experience. The staff's warm hospitality makes every visit memorable. For a taste of Latin America in West Allis, Antigua is the place to be.“
“Fantastic food! I knew as soon as I tasted the very flavorful salsas that were brought out right away with the basket of freshly-made chips that I would be in for a treat. My enchiladas were delicious and made just perfectly! The included side of rice and beans was top-notch as well. Definitely worth a stop!“
“My go-to food at a Mexican restaurant is Chicken Mole. This place gets all the stars, because O. M. G. The chicken was so tender, it literally slid off the bone! That's not to say it was overcooked, because it certainly wasn't. It retained it's juiciness and flavor, which was only enhanced by the brown mole sauce. The sauce here is a bit sweeter than other places I've eaten, which made for a nice change. The side of rice was nothing to speak of, but that is ok; I just used the mole sauce to give it some oomph. This is a small, hole in the wall type of place, discretely tucked in the corner of the building that houses El Rey. Blink and you may miss it. The interior is decorated in vibrant colors and typical Mexican decor, making you feel like you are, indeed, in Mexico. Service is spot on: friendly, helpful, and efficient.Missing Mexico? Stop in...you'll feel like you never left!4/2024“
“Ever think about going to a bar and then get to the bar and say...dang I wish there was a taco truck near by? Well that's what we did lol and we found this perfection on wheels, the food was great and the veggies were some of the freshest I've had and they even gave me some aluminum to take home as much as I can fit in it!! It was soo great!“
“This is a very nice place for some great mole. OMG!!! Their mole is like Mexican chocolate sauce on a juicy chicken breast. I mean OMG for real. The beans and rice are good as well. We also had their chimichangas which were very large and tasty. The service was fine. To me . . . Their chips taste like really authentic tortilla chips like in Cancun. Their salsa was okay. In my opinion, it didn’t seem very flavorful. Oh well . . . Maybe I caught it in a “not so good” day. We had a wonderful lunch, and I will be going back for some more of that yummy mole.“
“5/5 — A cute, casual spot to grab Mexican food. Wonderful customer service & friendly staff, delicious food with generous portions, and yummy Rainbow Margarita. Food tasted fresh & flavorful. Came back a second time in the same week!“
“Came up for HD120 and were hungry and looking for something different and stumbled upon Fiesta Cafe. Really nice inside. We arrived before the dinner menu so we had the breakfast which they serve late. A little disappointed at first but then started looking at the menu and there are a LOT of tasty sounding options I've never seen before. I went with the Al Pastor omelette because I love pork and pineapple! My friend had something I was looking at too. My friend also asked for banana pancakes which they brought as well. The drink menu looks awesome too but we were riding so that was a no go on drinks! But I would recommend highly as a stop for food and ambiance!“
“La Sierrita was a pleasant restaurant. People were nice, and the food was good. We had a Tostada, a Gordita, Flautas, and Chilaquiles with rice and beans. The verde sauce was my favorite, and it enhanced all the dishes. While I enjoyed La Sierrita, I thought the food at El Tlaxcalteca, El Tapatico, and Tavo’s Signature was better.“
“If you want great food and amaizing service plus authentic liie your grandma's rancho...then yeah this is the spot!! Can't give enough compliments to all the staff there. Super attentive and polite and just down to earth kind of people. Me and my girl went for the very first time after a recommendation from a buddy and boy was it worth it! You gotta try the chicharon and all the various styles of it. DELICIOUS!!! The tacos ? to die for with home made tortillas!! I personally have found my favorite Mexican for real Mexican spot! Yes they are only open on the weekends but dam it's worth every penny and every minute your there.“
“A nice convenient taco truck PAY WITH CASH ONLYReally excellent service and excellent portions as well, the food was delicious and exactly the taste of Mexico when you’re missing home. Authentic and run efficiently. But be sure to bring cash beforehand, the ATM near the gas station had a single 20$ and charged a 2.75$ service fee.“
“Best taco truck around. Food is always delicious, hot and fresh! Today I got 2 amazing tacos for less than $6 which they can do Mexican or American style. They give you 2 different kinds of salsa and a couple limes. You can order over phone or walk up. They also have tons of other food options and are very friendly.Parking: Parking is street only but free and they are just across the sidewalk.“
“Amazing Atmosphere! So fun!Not to mention, great tacos and drinks. We are looking forward to going back.Right outside the Marcus center, so as everyone is waiting in bumper to bumper traffic to get out of the parking structure, walk across the street to have some fantastic food and drinks with friends!Vegetarian options: Corn tacos, black bean tacos, fries, chips and salsa, cactus tacos. More than that…“
“The BEST birria tacos in Milwaukee hands down. I’ve tried just about everywhere and no other place stands a chance. Atmosphere is great music is too low or too loud. If you need or want something a simple look at your server and they’ll come right over. Prices for the amount of food is absolutely killer. Everything I’ve ever order from Lazo’s is full full full of flavor. If you’re visiting Milwaukee or live here, you definitely should come check Lazo’s Tacos out. Seeing door dashers come in and out without waiting for more than 5 minutes is also a great sign they are doing something correct.“
“Can’t go wrong with this affordable and cozy Mexican restaurant.Food:Really great tacos! I got both the steak and chicken tripe tacos. Good flavor and super affordable ($12). Hit the spot across the board. Better than a ridiculous $20 plate of tacos at Botanas or similar. Affordable drinks and margaritas. Damn good horchata.Service:Sweet server that was attentive and personable. Appreciated!Atmosphere:Cozy spot with a bar. An open dining room. A side room that could be good for a birthday party or other celebration with a large group.Parking is also super easy. There’s a big free lot right in front.I’ll definitely be visiting again!“
“Hands down the best Mexican cuisine in SE Wisconsin. Do not judge this book by the cover. Show up ready to step out of your normal boundaries and order a broad range of items to share so you don't miss out on this amazing menu. Can't wait for our friends and family to experience this great spot!“
“Hands down some of the best tacos in Milwaukee,Wi. Everything Fresh made to order! Love the staff who remain consistent and very detailed to your specific order. Come with cash they are cash only so be prepared! Trust me you won’t be disappointed! Get a mini taco dinner for me! Can you say ? yum!!!“
“Absolutely delicious food and drinks. Had dinner last night with a friend around 5:30p. Ample places to sit, chips and salsa were decent. Margaritas were tasty as well definitely snuck up on us after the second round. Would absolutely come back again.“
“Still one of the best burgers. A Hot Mess. 1/3 beef patty, lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, bacon, beer braised onions and Guinness cheese sauce, with tots and a bloody! Service was quick and friendly. The bartender was fantastic! Thanks for another great Sunday Funday :-)“
“They knew two than three. The al pastor tacos did not have much flavor. But they were $1 on Tuesdays. The tacos were ok. They didn't really have much flavor, ordered the Al pastor tacos since they were $1 a taco on Tuesday. Good filler though.“
“If you want authentic Mexican food, this is the place to go! They have the real birria tacos made with goat meat. They also serve Pozole and Menu all days of the week which is rare (usually you can only find that stuff on the weekends). They’re horchata and hibiscus (agua de Jamaica) waters a delicious too!“
“The food here is outstanding! The only caveat is the service was poor. We waited about 10 minutes before someone finally noticed we didn't have water and brought some, and then we had to ask if we can order. Meanwhile one of the servers(?) talked to the table next to us the whole time we were there.Once we got our order in, the food came out quick and was fantastic! I had the enchiladas oaxaquenos with chicken. I would definitely go back for the food, but not the service.“
“We are HUGE Birria fans and went there shortly before they closed and sadly they were out of the Birria Egg rolls, but we are going to try again tomorrow because the food was unbelievable! My wife said, and I quote, "This is the meal I've been waiting for!" I've had a lot of Birria in recent months and the Birria Quesadilla was by far the best Birria food item of any kind that I have ever had; it was the chipotle sauce that did it for me. I also highly recommend the Mexican street Corn (with Brussel Sprouts). It was smoky, creamy, tangy....SO good! And lastly, the Mango Aqua Fresca was the perfect pairing to the meal. 10 outta 10!“
“One of the best Mexican food trucks I've had!! They have both Mexican and loaded tacos, the chicken and shredded beef were super flavorful. And fast service for ordering at lunch. Would definitely recommend trying this place and 100% would come again.“
“This restaurant is my new Mexican dig, and I am glad I was introduced to it because when it comes to Mexican restaurants, there are so many in the Milwaukee area that I'm at a loss at where to start. I'm truly grateful to my coworker for bringing me there. The service is very fast despite the large menu, and the servers have always been very friendly and welcoming whenever I visited. I've ordered about a quarter of the entire menu so far and every entry has been a hit - packed with flavor and in portions equivalent to their prices, which is on the higher side though that is mainly due to the unfortunate inflation situation plaguing the country therefore something they are not truly at fault for. But to further emphasize on the portions, the jumbo-sized burritos are aren't filled with carb fillers (rice and bean) but rather very generous amounts of meat, ensuring you're getting your money's worth. Also, this is not your typical westernized Mexican dig, they have entrees more catered towards true Mexican cuisine.Overall, I continue to be excited returning to this restaurant to further carry on my exploration of their menu. But if you need additional persuasion, know that the (very friendly) owner is a liquor connoisseur and if you ask him he will be more than glad to proudly pull out his rarer collection for you. I don't think I've had smoother tequila anywhere else, and I hope you'll all give this place a try.“
“Great taco truck on the south side. Their prices are super cheap and they make great quality tacos. Wife loves their cochinita and chorizo tacos. I always get their tripas which are to die for... and a MUST get if you like intestines as it has a crunchy outside yet super soft inside texture. Their lengua is also great and their pickled veggies that come with their tacos are SUPERB. We come here everytime we are down in this area. No pictures to post because we always eat it the second we get it and always forget to snap fotos, that's how good they are. Can't wait until they start selling their chimichangas. You can't go wrong and their food comes out hot and QUICK! Do not sleep on this food truck, if you are near, GO GO GO!“
“I wish we could give 6 stars. If you're looking for catering for a wedding, Antigua is THE place to go. My now-husband and I were easy-going about almost all of our wedding decisions, but our number 1 priorities were our venue and food. We did not want the standard dishes offered at most weddings, we wanted something that stood out and represented our love for delicious food. We saw the many awards Antigua has earned when we went for our initial tasting and, after having tried their food and hired them for our wedding, we're baffled as to how they don't have many, many more. Citlali, the owner, has won our hearts and anyone thinking about getting married in the Milwaukee area MUST check Antigua out. She made everything so simple for us, and was present on our wedding day to make sure everything ran smoothly. The staff running food and clearing plates were superb for everything from appetizers to helping to set up the dessert station. Every single person at my wedding that I spoke to after dinner raved about the food. Run, don't walk, to Antigua and hope that they aren't already booked for your wedding day.“
“Very cool place! :D amazing food, awesome staff, great vibes !! Very good vegan options as well, my mom enjoyed the mushroom quesadilla a lot and I really liked the enchilada plate. The portions are generous as well, and leftovers are always exciting to me lol, and my favorite part is on Tuesdays they donate from taco purchases for a different local cause every month. It was my first time there, so I really want to make it next Tuesday because the organization for March 2024 seems really awesome ♡♡ edit: How could I forget to mention how beautiful it is inside?! colorful walls, decorated ceiling, tables with cool colorful flower patterns, and the walls completely decorated (there is a lot of Christian art as well specifically)“
“I enjoyed the food at Ventura's. My Pollo con mole was excellent, much better than I expected from this tiny offshoot from a taco truck. Everything was fresh and homemade, including the delicious chips. Ventura's chimichanga, an American-Mexican dish, was also made in-house and was tasty. Our server was pleased to take care of us and enjoyed our compliments. We finished our meal with a flan that I enjoyed, but my wife thought was mediocre. She's picky, though, and we have a friend who makes her own flan, which is out of this world, but she lives in CDMX, so who cares? I had a great meal at Ventura's and shall return. Prices were reasonable.“
“I keep getting the bahn mi burger over and over because that savory sesame sauce with the pickled veggies is a perfect burger topping. The buns are pleasingly pillowy, and the fries have a tongue-tickling seasoning. It can get a little loud if people are there watching a game, but service is fast and the food remains a great deal. I've been here probably ten times!“
“We ordered food to go and it was suppose to be done within 30 minutes but it was done within 15 which was awesome! The food was bomb and very satisfying. The birria is delicious & they even have tongue tacos which is my fave! I highly recommend ?“
“This place will always be my favorite Mexican restaurant. It’s honestly better than most places I’ve eaten in Mexico. I’ve told so many people about this place since coming here since 2016. There’s something super special about their chicken tacos and green sauce, its like no other. Great prices, amazing quality, and service.“
“Always a good place to eat. Their food is good, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the service is ok. I ordered a coke and came in a glass bottle room temperature. The waiter didn't bring it cold or ask me if I wanted a glass with ice. Other than that, it's a good restaurant.“
“Is there anything more than 5 stars? If there was, I would put that in all categories. I can’t stress how perfect my experience was tonight for dinner. The food? Perfect. The service? Perfect. The ambiance? Perfect. I plan on coming back.“
“Literally SUCH a hidden gem and the food was genuinely outstanding! I got the combo 38 and definitely would recommend that so you can try so many different things. Blanca our server was phenomenal and SO on top of taking care of our massive party of over 20 in such a timely manner. Can’t wait for my next trip here!“
“Came here on the recommendation of a friend for our restaurant review. I had never heard of this place or their food trucks before so I was excited to give it a try. While the inside was empty, the service was stellar and I feel they probably do a lot more carry out business than sit down inside. I got the Cubano sandwich, regular sized and it was so tasty. The bread was crispy yet soft and the ingredients, especially the Mexican sausage, was fantastic! I also tried a few tacos that had good flavor but for me a little dry so I had to hit it with the salsa they provided and whoa!! It brought a nice kick of heat to it that really elevated the taco for me. I would absolutely suggest that if you in the mood for a torta, you check out JC King's!“
“Best authentic Mexican in the area!! This is my go-to. Food is always warm and tasty. I even went here for my birthday with 13 ppl and still had 5 star service & food just like with 2 ppl (this isn’t common anywhere since covid). At the birthday dinner, they even brought my two nephews toys and candy!! I have dined in and taken out as well! Don’t miss out and stop into this cute, family-friendly environment.“
“Chilango Express has a streamlined menu of freshly prepared offerings. For point of comparison, expect it to be less greasy and more garlicky than the competition. If you want something different then order the consomme de borrego, the lamb soup, which has chickpeas, cilantro and carrots in it. I will come away from this place dreaming about their corn tortillas which are fluffy and soft, yet grilled. Clearly home made. The dining room is sunny and colorful-- the prices, friendly.“
“Great place, amazing tacos, fast servers and cooks, great music or tv changes depending the vibe of the servers or the mix of customers, great margaritas!!!!!Parking: 4-5 spots right in front and a parking lot across the street but be wary of potholes!“
“I love this place! First time here, and what an experience!! The salmon tacos tasted amazing, bright, and the sause added a kick! The drinks were spot on! The owner took the time to introduce himself, adding further to the friendly, welcoming atmosphere! I WILL return! Highly recommended!“
“The Jerez restaurant is a nice place to visit with family and friends.Very good service ? delicious food ? ? I do recommend them.It has ample space for a dinner or family meal. You can reserve a table in advance.Delicious drinks and very delicious food“
“The food was very good. It was not busy at all as we ate between 2 and 4 on a Saturday. The building itself needs work but this is what one should expect from a local business which needs to grow organically within a community and isn't just a chain with corporate funding.Parking: Back alley parking and street parking. Can be confusing and messy but is functional.“
“It used to be a great Greek place, that had a big menu and some other kinds of food on the side. Now it's menu has a lot of kinds of food and some Greek stuff on the side.Food is good but far from great.I don't come here often anymore for a few reasons. They were 24hours then they started closing sometimes (I didn't find out when) so I was never sure of when they were open again. At some point in the past I went in and had a meal, the menu was cut down so much that the Greek food that this place was known for having all-day was not available. On top of that there was an automatic tip %, the wait staff at the time abused this because if the automatic tip was not there, the wait staff's own actions that day would not have gotten any tip. I think I left 2¢ that day and a bad comment card. I didn't go back for over a year I think (might have been longer).“
“This is our go to place when we want fajitas! Their guacamole bowl is delicious. You are govern chips and red salsa once your seated. ASK FOR THE GREEN SALSA! It's really good When doing carry out, make sure you check that the order is correct before leaving. We have gotten incorrect items several times but still feel the restaurant has good food so as long as we check before leaving we are good.“
“I'm actually truly impressed with my meal. I had 3 tacos de al apastor. It's a taco meal, came with rice and beans (both were very good). I ordered a red salsa and it came with a green one. I love very spicy salsas so both the red and green one passed my preference level of spiciness. My husband's steak was juicy and very flavorful. They have kids meals as well. I've traveled to México and California, these tacos were pretty good. It might look small from outside but looks are deceiving. It's spacious when you step inside and there's a backroom and patio.Kid-friendliness: High chairs includedWheelchair accessibility: Didn't see a ramp in the front. There might be one in the back, I'd call before coming.“
