“Since moving from San Diego California to Charles Town in early 2000s I always missed the abundant access to local fresh Mexican food; near impossible to find the same un-Americanized style in the Jefferson County area. When I stumbled across Ortega’s and then finding out the Ortega family was from my old stomping grounds, I felt like I struck gold. Being a local boutique pepper grower I was able to share peppers with Ortega’s from Jalapeños to Chocolate Habaneros. I’m a burrito lover and will ask to change up the carne asada burrito by removing most of the rice and beans and adding more carne to closer match the Taco/Burrito shops in San Diego of straight carne. The also make one of my fav if you lucky enough to find packaged in the counter fridge “escabeche” Mexican Pickled Jalapeño and Carrots (Jalapeño y zanahorias en escabeche). Ortega’s to truly a gem of Charles Town so please stop in and give them a try, I wish the Ortega’s team many more years of success! ”

“Wow for starters my husband got loaded steak fries and where I’m from it’s steakums nooo this was actual steak on fries it was so good I ate some of his plus what I ordered I ordered the bbq pulled pork sandwich and fries it was so good . The lady was very friendly and the wait wasn’t long we definitely will be back .”

“I wanted to leave a review for Paddy’s since every other one was negative and not helpful! We are staying in the area for vacation and wanted to go somewhere for dinner. Paddy’s had a wide variety on their menu; Irish food, sandwiches, seafood and specials each night. The restaurant is in a historical building in the heart of Charles Town. We went on a Wednesday night and it was surprisingly pretty busy! We got set right away and food did not take very long either. There seemed to be maybe only 2 servers for a big (2 room) restaurant, but even the service was not too slow- just more laid back. We all enjoyed our food and I especially wanted to note they the wing night special (6 bone in wings for 6 dollars) was awesome! Good wings for a good price! My only complaint is there was no Irish music playing! Overall good experience and if you’re looking for a casual, solid dining experience in the area I would recommend!”

“After a longggg day of geocaching& adventuring in Harpers Ferry, my friend& i came here for lunch& beers. For 3 coronas, the steak& cheese sub with fries i paid under $30 with tip. The food was great, the bartender was awesome& the company was fun. 10/10 would recommend!”

“Could not ask for a better experience. Our server, Sara, was great. The filet was cooked perfectly. Shrimp cocktail was excellent. The bar made some very nice drinks. The raw oysters were tasty but a tad small. We will definitely be back.

Update: very disappointed. We had reservations last night. But when we arrived, it was obvious that the AC in the casino was not working well at all. We made our way to the steakhouse where my wife asked if the air was working inside. She was told no and when we decided to cancel and leave, the woman at the entrance caught attitude. My wife explained we would come back another time. But this woman was just plain rude. Why would we want to sit down to a big steak dinner with drinks in a place that felt like it was 85 degrees? No need to be rude about it.”

“I’ve been eating here since I was 16 years old over 40 years now and it is even more special to me now since this is the last place I had lunch with my son before he passed away. I live in Florida now for over 15 years but every time I come home to visit family. I always come here sit in the same booth that Jeff and I sat at for that last lunch over 4 years ago now.”
