“My friend has a membership to a wine club that gets her and a guest each a glass of wine each week so she took me here as her guest. She knows the owners, so I may not have gotten a normal experience, but they seemed really friendly and welcoming. We missed it during our visit, but I was told they often have live music.“

“We checked out this place for the first time on a recent Sunday afternoon. The place was hopping with wonderful live music (The Lost Cats - jazz / R and B), and the brunch was delicious. Please keep the live music coming on weekends - such a good vibe!“
“Enjoyed a smooth cab, the unique atmosphere within the production warehouse added to the overall experience. Scott provided thorough explanations, going above and beyond by recommending other fantastic wineries and delightful food options to explore in the East Bay.“

“My daughter took me and the hubby here for our Thanksgiving celebration since she couldn't come home (Sac) for actual Thanksgiving, we went to her. This was a night I won't soon forget! Having a nice meal with our daughter was a treat, the service was amazing and the food....OMG! Every bite of every dish I tasted was so so delicious! I can't get the butternut soup out of my head it was THAT good! We all ordered different food & shared bites with one another. This night was so enjoyable! Thank you, Sis & Thank you Mama Oakland!“

“Wow - what a hip cool spot to chill with great coffee/other drinks! Exactly the kind of coffee shop I’ve always dreamt of opening myself ;)They have fast free Wi-Fi, lots of comfy seating & nice airy space. It was about 230PM Sunday afternoon and we grabbed the last two seats!Barely 5 minutes walk from 19th St BART station & there’s even a Shake Shack across the street & other good eats nearby. Def stop by when you’re in Uptown Oakland!“

“SQUID INK PAELLA. One of the most memorable and interesting dishes I've had anywhere this year. Great value for the meal and lovely well-lit brunch atmosphere. Traffic seems to clear out by 1pm for brunch. Highly recommend ordering a paella for the table right when you get seated, well worth the 30-45 minute wait. Churros amazing and not too sweet. Amazingly subtle flavors on the shrimp and octopus. Brussels sprouts were a bit more tart than I expected from the balsamic. Horchata had a hint of carrot taste that I personally was not a fan of.“

“So glad to have a lovely wine bar in our neighborhood! The staff are great and I love the atmosphere and aesthetic. The wines are always amazing and there is something for everyone including beer, ciders and nonalcoholic beverages. Really enjoy my outings here.“

“I love this restaurant. The pan con tomate is one of the best things I've ever eaten. A lot of people complain about the price, but you're getting extremely high-end food that would cost even more at a stuffy restaurant. Everything is high quality and meticulously put together. Also, it's a wine bar. If you want large portions and want to be a glutton then go to Applebees...“

“I love going to Top Hatters now because I know the staff a little and I love that the original bartender is still there, making the most delicious cocktails. I was able to order a cocktail not on the menu and the new bartendress nailed it. The meat platter was incredible- zero leftovers. Yum!“

“Okay I'm obsessed with the concept of Daytrip! Every dish has something fermented in it. The platings were beautiful and everyone was unique and delicious. The menu changes every so often so check their Instagram for an update! If they have the Miso Pasta when you go you have to get it it's exceptional. Server was really nice although she could have filled up water more. Ambiance was really cute and hippie vibes. The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because the bathroom was DISGUSTING. Like truly one of the most disgusting restaurant bathrooms I have ever seen. I will spare you the details... Do not go to bathroom if you come here lol. I would guess it hasn't been cleaned in over a week. We were also some of the first people there for the day which is even more concerning!!!“

“We've been dining at Bellanico for years. For all that time, it's consistently been good. The food and wine selection are wonderful. The restaurant is up to the minute in its menu, but evokes those vanishing, lamented neighborhood places we used to enjoy.“
“Hal's Office Coffee is an absolute gem nestled in Albany, California. From the moment you step in, you're enveloped in the warm, inviting vibes that make it the perfect spot to unwind or catch up on work. The cappuccino here is a true work of art, crafted with precision and care, boasting a rich, velvety texture and a bold espresso kick that's simply divine. But what truly sets this place apart is the exceptional service provided by the friendly and knowledgeable baristas who always go above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or just looking for a cozy spot to relax, this is your place to come visit!“

“Wine So Cru has been on our list to check out for quite some time, and we were finally able to go a few weeks ago. Overall, it was a good experience, not without its cons (see below), but generally, Wine So Cru offers an elegant and intimate environment to enjoy wine. The staff in particular are extremely knowledgeable about wine and very attentive. What I really liked about Wine So Cru is that they offer not only some very high end wines (to drink or take away - more about this later), they also have very affordable options, including some geekier (for wine nerds) options like lesser known varietals or wines from lesser known regions. All this is to say that whether you know what you like and you like what you know or if you're a bit more adventurous and open to learning, Wine So Cru has options for you. Bottle prices ranged from as low as $20-30 to well beyond $200-300+. They seem to be reasonably well stocked up on champagne if that's your jam! They also have some interesting flight options if you're in the mood for sampling a few different wines. While browsing the selection, the staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and I truly get the sense that they want to help you find something you're going to really enjoy, rather than being hyper-focused on upselling you on more expensive offerings. Don't be shy and tell them your price range. The bottle prices are retail prices, i.e. for you to take the wine home. If you want to enjoy the wine on premise, there's a $20 corkage fee, which I feel is quite reasonable since they'll be providing the stemware, ambiance, service, etc. There are so many positives about Wine So Cru, but it comes with some negatives as well. First and foremost, of the few wines I was familiar with, their retail price is quite a bit higher than you can find elsewhere. For example, the 2019 Louis Latour "En Chevret" Volnay 1er Cru sells for under $150 retail, even from places like wine.com, which is not necessarily known for offering the best prices. In the shop, the retail price was over $200. Let's say you were in the mood for a Napa cab and chose the 2018 Groth Reserve CS - it'll set you back $180 (retail) vs. $120-140 from other retailers. So although there's "only" a $20 corkage fee to drink in the shop, chances are you're going to be paying 20-30% more for the wine to begin with.Lastly, the location leaves something to be desired. It's on University very close to the 80 overpass, under which there are frequently unhoused members of our community. The juxtaposition of sitting in the wine bar enjoying $200 bottles of wine while meters away, people aren't even able to meet their basic needs - it's not lost on me. Now of course, none of this is the fault of Wine So Cru and I only mention it because you may feel unsafe walking around the area at night. After all, there's a reason the front door remains locked during business hours and you have to be let in by a member of the staff.“

“I used to be more of a regular here. With the recent price increases it's more of a special occasion stop now. The cocktails are still great though. Happy hour is decent and there is a small outdoor seating area now (thanks COVID!) Inside is cozy and welcoming. It can get loud as the evening goes though. Menu is small, but I've never had a bad meal here. Service is very good considering how packed it can get inside such a little joint.Parking: I usually ride my bicycle and lock it up at one of the racks conveniently located directly out front.“

“I love this little bar, it's hidden on the side of some corporate building but has such cozy vibes. I wish I knew of it sooner. I got 2 cocktails although not gonna lie I can't remember the names but they were both super tasty. Everyone in my group loved their drinks. The bartender was so friendly too. We also got their empanadas and honestly kind of fire. It was the perfect after work drink type of bar.“

“We shared the broccolini and a vegetarian pasta, both were delicious. Amazing strawberry rhubarb cake for dessert. We also ordered the beet appetizer- we asked for one and the server recommended we get two because they were skewers. When they came we understood why... they were so tiny, about one big bite of food each. Definitely not worth $10 for 2! Overall a great meal but I'd avoid the tiny skewers next time.“
“The handsome fella with the bowling shirt treated me and my friends so well even tho we came in the last 45 minutes. He let us have our drinks and enjoy the ambiance. He specifically told is not to rush . He made me want to come back just based on his energy, and the drinks were fire too!“
“I really dig Prima Materia wines -- particularly the cab and Grenache. I also like buying the variety pack cases, which brings the cost per bottle down to about $22. And it's fun to learn about varietals with which I'm unfamiliar, like agalianico.“

“Enoteca Molinari is a great place to eat! Small, tight menu, with some delicious options. I enjoy their main courses a lot and have trouble deciding between my 3 favorites - the pillowy gnocchi, the savory, salty saltimboca, or (the star!) the tagliatelle with a delicious meat ragu. Good wine list, and they have nice appetizers, salads, and tasty desserts as well. The staff is great as well. Molinari is sort of a vibe - a small, opinionated neighborhood place, with really delicious food. It expanded into a neighboring storefront a few years ago, and now it's easier to get a table! Still has the delicious food, and still the feel of a great neighborhood place. Highly recommended!“

“Excellent food. The lamb shashlik was delicious. Also the large, varied platter of appetizers. We were there on a Sunday at noon and there were not many others at that time, so there was hardly any noise which was good for me. I will definitely return to try other dishes, or maybe have the lamb again . . . . Highly recommend.“

“Natural wine and snacks in uptown Oakland. They have a good wine selection and sell bottles to go, even my favorite Tessier from Berkeley! There's a miso sample plate from Shared Cultures and other little salty snacks and food with good bread. The service is great, they know the wines and give good recommendations. It's a nice place to have a wine or cider and chill.“
“I really enjoyed this wine bar! The wine options were great and I found out all they only carry natural wine so that was a plus! I actually just went back again today and bought a whole case and it was so reasonable. Will definitely be coming back when I need more wine!“
