“Pictured are the Tokyo Rich Tsukemen and the Smoked Dashi Ramen.The Tokyo Rich Tsukemen carried my experience here at Tonchin LA. I came here solely for the noodles made in collaboration with Keizo Shimamoto from Shimamoto Noodle Inc. They are really the star of the bowl. The tonkotsu gyokai broth was alright, but overall, this was one of the better tsukemen you can find in Socal imo.The Smoked Dashi Ramen, on the other hand, was quite weird. It starts off fine but the longer you take to eat it, the fishier the broth will get so get ready to slurp fast ?“

The staff was friendly when we walked in and led us to a beautiful table in the courtyard. They have heaters and are very attentive to offering one to your table. Our server was fantastic, attentive, friendly, gave excellent recommendations and guidance on the menu - and didn't rush us! We're typically fast diners but were encouraged to relax and enjoy our post-dinner drinks. Drinks Lychee Martini with vodka was so light, crisp, and not too sweet. Sake was light and floral and they do an over-pour into a cute wooden box. Espresso Martini was the perfect post-dinner treat for my husband and the Umelicious was perfect for me! Food Crispy Rice - was one of the best crispy rice orders I've ever had, the mixed potato into the tuna which adds a great savory flavor. Croquettes - were a showstopper, you really taste the blue crab, but the fried eggplant marinara was the star for me. Ribeye - perfectly cooked medium rare, good fat, with a great dipping sauce. Risotto - so tasty, consistency semi-similar to congee, the pork belly was cooked beautifully melt-in-your-mouth, and I loved the curry sauce. “First time visiting Ocean Sushi, I had the “Sensual Pressure Roll” and “Salmon Handroll” , The salmon, and spicy bay scallop which melted in your mouth. The rice was just perfect on all of the pieces, not overly moist, yet firm and unadulterated. The spicy tuna were mild spicy and fragrant, the fresh salmon tasted better than anything I've had.The blue crab baked hand roll had all the flavors and real non-imitation crab was something very unique and worth a try.And new menu called, “Caribbean Roll” were above average, fresh albacore sashimi with spicy tuna and my favorite crispy onion; with house sauce and garnish that added more texture and flavor.Lastly the toro sushi seems basic, but they prove how good they are, melt and fresh. they made a something basic into something extravagant.All the servers are welcoming and friendly. “Outstanding food and service. Reservations were limited so we went right when they opened and snagged seats at the end of the sushi bar. The highlights for us were the inventive, perfectly seasoned hamachi choco and buttery salmon nigiri—but honestly we would reorder everything we tried and can’t wait to come back to sample the rest of the menu. Mariano made us feel like VIPs with his stellar recommendations and good conversation. So happy to have this gem in the neighborhood! “We stopped here due to reviews on yelp and were not disappointed! Every single peice of sushi we ordered was fresh and flavorful! It's been awhile since we have experienced some creativity in flavors and they continually surprised us with combos like marscapone cheese with eel and then made our tummy happy with freshly grated Truffles. The rice proportion was absolutely perfect, just a little but not too thick so you really taste the flavor of the fish. All the sushi chefs were friendly and I wish I lived closer so I could eat there all the time!“

“This was the top dining experience of my year so far. The perfect combination of fresh, delicious food in a personal, unpretentious atmosphere. The restaurant is Nan’s passion-project and you can feel her thoughtfulness and enthusiasm in the unique concept and intricate flavors and textures of the food. Our group shared two bottles of natural wine as well that paired perfectly with the food. I also loved the bespoke handmade stoneware, delicate glassware, and mismatched vintage furniture. Would absolutely recommend sitting at the bar to see the process and incredible attention to detail. We came for the “lunchtime indulgence” for Sunday lunch, but will definitely be back for the tasting menu in the future.“

“I found this spot randomly on my google search and i am glad I took a chance. Saw all the amazing reviews and it was a must try and it did not disappoint. The broth was delicious all by it's self and it didn't have that extra over the top MSG flavor. Customer service was very welcoming and the lady in the front was all smiles. “Started with smiling and welcoming staff. Our table was next to a very loud and screaming crowd and was getting so loud that we couldn’t even talk without shouting ti hear each other. The manager came over to apologise and offered us to move to another quieter table which we kindly took. They stage kept apologizing to us about the loud crowd. Kept us happy and well served all thrice our meal. Food was great! Ambience was great! We were very happy all in all! “As I was driving around, I was looking for something to eat. I came upon this place and wanted to try it out. Since I was craving a poke bowl, I saw that they had a Chirashi Bowl. So, I ordered the bowl with regular white rice. For $27-, the Chirashi Bowl filled me up. Also, it came with miso soup and a free soda with a Yelp Check-in. Plus, I got a tip on how to eat the fish which I appreciated.“

“It's a funny, unexpected thing to walk through a basic, outdoor mall and then end up in such an incredible, fine dining gem (fine dining but also comfortable/casual too?). Food is delicious! Fun music. Great, inventive cocktails. Reminds me so much of when I lived in Hong Kong and loved this yakitori restaurant called yardbird. We went to Hatch once years ago and came back last weekend and were so happy we returned. Hope to go again very soon!“

“Always good, thin rice surrounding the roll is a good sign of a good sushi roll, fish always fresh and melts in your mouth...I'm a big Wasabi user and they provided two different types for me to try, the lumpy almost salsa looking kind was so good, just spread on roll and eat, the other was what you'd normally find... it was good.Parking: Plenty right in front, never had a problem finding a spot“

“10/10 I love a good sushi spot ! This place is hands down one of my fav places to get sushi from it's not your typical sushi spot where they have regular fancy rolls. Someone's less is more and this is definitely one of those it is a very basic hand roll ( seaweed , rice and your choice of fish) but it is so FRESH and quality is there !“

“We found this restaurant through Yelp and we were super happy that we did. The sashimi were fresh and perfectly prepared. They have most of the dishes that we usually liked on the menu and some more. There was a mantis shrimp sashimi special on their special menu which we never tried before. We have it a try and it was pleasant enough but we still preferred the live sweet shrimp. The monk fish liver was good but the texture was softer than the ones we had on the past. Our server was friendly and helpful. Overall, I give the dining experience a five star because we left happy and satisfied.“

“We came here on a Tuesday night looking for a quick but savory meal. It was busy but there were some seats open. casual place. The food came out quite quickly, and as a whole it was very good. We got chicken kaarage, which was a good portion for its price. The accompanying spicy mayo was unexpectedly quite nice. boy got the blaze, which he really liked. I got the classic ramen, which was flavorful and not too salty. The noodles were cooked very well, and the broth warmed me nicely. I have came here before craving the tsukemen, and it is for the most part quite good but always ends up tasting very salty by the end. will probably still come back and order it again though.“

“I'm not sure I should say anything but so far sushi Gen is my top sushi place in LA. Chef knows what he's doing and is very accommodating and polite to all my custom requests. Def feels like a hole in the wall but there were about 20-30 people waiting when I got there at 6. The tuna belly and salon belly are some of the freshest and fattiest we've ever had. Parking attendants were rude accepting card before 6 but not accepting it after 6 and only took cash. He said if you don't have cash buy me pastries and I'll let you in -_- ok Bring $6 cash next time, lesson learned“

All the dishes were explained and presented well but overall Morihiro just lacked that wow factor. I think I also just prefer a more intimate omakase experience.“

“This restaurant is affiliated with several sushi restaurants in Los Angeles and Westwood. It is located on the 2F of the H Mart Madong Plaza, and they validate parking. It has only been open for a month, and it appears to be building up a following. Madong Plaza is also the home to several restaurants, Daiso Japan, Cosmetic World, Paris Baguette. It would be worth your while to enjoy a meal at California Rock N Sushi and do you shopping. The pictures don't do justice to the presentation and quality of the seafood they serve here. I have eaten sushi in Japan, Seattle, and Hawaii. The freshness of their seafood and presentation are unique and unmatched. The sushi chefs are artists, who are clearly experienced and can create works of art. They carry an extensive menu of hand rolls, cut rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and specialties. We had the Red Dragon and Lemon Rolls cut style, chirashi bowl, teppanyaki, and ama ebi. (If they have ama ebi on the menu, do not hesitate to order it.) From seating to the end of our meal, service was top notch. Although this restaurant is located in Koreatown, sushi is universal. I highly recommend that you take the time to visit this restaurant and enjoy your meal here. I would rate this 6 stars if Yelp allowed me to.“
