“We were greeted warmly at the door, and our server was extremely gracious and provided wine samples to help us choose the right bottle. The raw oysters were fresh and bright, the Big Bowl of Greens was a terrific salad to share. The NC Trout and Pork Schnitzel entrees were flawless. We shared a Black Forest Cake for dessert. In summary, it was a perfect dining experience.“

The Bar at Table Bar • $$$
18 N Lexington Ave, Asheville

“We found this little gem by chance and were not disappointed. Great atmosphere, kid friendly (albeit its an adult place). We sat at a small corner table by the bar. We enjoyed some sharable plates, great wines, mocktails for the kids, excellent wines and my wife a great Vesper made by Luci (the bartender). But the cherry on top was the fact that she made a perfect Irish Coffee - a simple drink, but buttered by 99% of the bar tenders. We will be back.“

“After a lot of reviews, we walked over from The Grove Park and sat at the bar. Spoke with the staff at length and had a fun time on a rather slow night in the winter season, but everything about our dinner was amazing. This little spot is extremely cool, in a very fun location and staffed by some awesome folks. It is very, very rare I try to go to the same place in a city more than once, but we ended up doing dinner and brunch while in town. Dinner - The house made focaccia was delicious, and I ended up getting an elk osso bucco that was really, really savory and good. Had leftovers for lunch the next day. As good as it was, I am more saddened by the fact that my partner got a smoked bolognese, which was one of the best I've ever had, if not the best. Absolutely stellar dish. Brunch - Breakfast sandwiches for both of us and some potatoes. Super solid/delicious and really, really good coffee. A stellar example of the amazing food scene in Asheville.“

“My boss took us out for a nice office dinner one night during the Southern Conference Basketball Tournament. It was very nice, but super expensive (not that I had to pay) and took forever. We were there over three hours. I guess if that's the mood you're in for, it's a good place, but another guy and I had a lot of work left to do for the day. My meal was good, the cabbage and citrus beet salad much better than the fish, though! I had never had cabbage cooked like that or beets and whipped feta either, but it was tasty!“

“We dined on the outside patio because we had our dog with us. Menu was 100% GF but you wouldn't know it - because everything was so delicious. There was also a doggie dining menu for our pup to join us for dinner w/ some rules. 1) no dogs on your lap. 2) No feeding your dog from the table. The service was amazing. The food was delicious. The wine pairings were perfection. It was a little loud outside but to be expected and was worth it to be able to bring our pup.“

“Excellent and professional service, starting from check in to complete table service. They all kindly acknowledged my wife's birthday. However, the price of the meal was expensive, and the portions of the selected items were small. The overall quality of the meal was very good, but quanity of prepared items did not match the price. I guess this is because we were dining at the Biltmore. You are paying for the experience.“

Salt Face Mule Brewing Co. Brewery • $$

“My wife and I met here for a going away party for a friend. The place is large with indoor and outdoor seating with a mini-golf course behind it. Good variety of selection on beer types and about 12-15 of them. The breakfast sandwich was a home run... like completely surprised us both for a brewpub... we were there during brunch, so she was able to get brunch and me lunch (think brunch ends at 3:30 Saturdays/Sundays). She had the breakfast sandwich, which was a monster and was a very good value. The sandwich was satisfying and so flavorful, especially with whatever sauce that was. The home fries were ordered extra crispy, and they came out perfectly crispy and not burnt or greasey.I am a sucker for shrimp and grits, so I usually get it if I see it on a menu. The shrimp were cleaned first off so they did that right and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. The sausage was still juicy and flavorful. The grits were cooked well but honestly, it didn't taste much of cheddar and noticed barely any jalapeno. The sauce was supposed to be garlicky cajun cream sauce. I got the garlic and cream but no cajun spice, and overall it needed some salt and pepper because of that lack of heat.Overall it was a great brunch spot with a tasty large breakfast sandwich and crispy home fries; but mediocre shrimp and grits. Beer selection is good.8.5/10“

“We had mixed feelings about Avenue M. The hot cheesy artichoke dip was one of the best things we've ever eaten and worth a trip no matter what else. I would definitely go back for that. I had the smash burger and my husband had chicken wings (we had some difficulty finding something enticing on the very small menu); they were good and acceptable but that's about it. The ambience is one of those (now outdated) industrial style restaurants which I find cold and noisy when crowded. Service was very attentive.“

My Honey and I split an order of Lobster Roll and Short Rib Sliders. There were two of each and light enough to not ruin our appetite for dinner. They have live entertainment here every night. Our first night they had someone playing the piano, the afternoon we stopped in for a snack they had a young man on acoustic guitar. Both were very talented and enthusiastic. The views of the surrounding mountains were amazing and the food was very Delicious. Our server was very friendly, helpful on our selections and provided impeccable service.
