“This place was cool for everyone. Lots of activities for the whole family. They operate out of an old train car. All the details of this place were well done. I like the ode to a little disc golf. I am only giving four stars because the one beer I had time for I didn’t really like. Could be my fault but that was the only sample I had.“
“Went here last weekend. The owner was very nice. She let us try the meat and the sauce. They have family meals and individual ones. We wanted to get some of each meat to share. She made the suggestion of buying half a pound of each. We picked baked beans and Fry's. Had a choice of hush puppies or buns. Had two large sweet teas. Less than $40 before I added the tip. We ate lunch. Had supper at home and had enough left to freeze for a meal later on. Covered seating out side. Can take it with you. Worth the trip from Leicester. Great food very friendly people. Glad we found it. Will be back. Ohh one sauce is sweet. The other I think they said was sweet with a little spice.“
“I'm giving 5 stars for the service because we didn't want for anything but the person did have the personality of a fencepost. The food, however, was crazy good! I had the shrimp and grits and it was one of the best breakfast dishes I've had in years. My Sister had the Southern Benny and and also raved about it. Really, really flavorful and perfectly cooked. The complimentary beignet beginner was a nice touch, too.“
“Today was our first time at Turgua. I rarely contribute to social media review, but this place is amazingly good. Uniquely inspired and very well executed brew. Spacious outback along the river make this place a must visit. We will be back often.“
“i really enjoyed this! i was hungry after a long hike and i’d read good reviews about this place. I ordered el cubano sandwich and a water. the sandwich was great, toasted well with good ingredients, and it came with potato chips that i enjoyed putting in the sandwich. The water was nice and cold too. Only suggestion is asking for extra pickles in the sandwich, they need a little more in the ratio. Very pleased! would take anyone here!“
“Another outstanding culinary experience! Thank you for fitting us in yesterday on our way home from SAFF (Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair) we brought our dear friends who were celebrating their anniversary. We had some small plates then scallops, burgers, and schnitzel. Just fabulous. Thank you for a perfect end to a wonderful day spent with great friends. Happy to share such a dining gem.“
“Stopped here on a road trip and didn’t want to leave. Chuck, the owner, is a delight and an insanely talented artist. We had a nice chat while he prepared our lattes (which were some of the best we’d ever had), and what a delight! I’d be a regular if I didn’t live on the wrong coast.“
“Our first stop on our first trip to Asheville. Discovered this when looking for walkable dining from Cedar Crest Inn. If you don’t mind a little bit without sidewalks, it was an easy 20 minutes. We split a rice bowl and artichoke dip which was plenty for us and enjoyed a variety of beverages throughout. Food was great especially for a brewery, and the beer is among top-tier. Lots of seating, though outdoor was a little limited and a bit buggy by the creek in the backyard. Staff was really friendly and attentive, and the venue was fun and well kept. Hoping to make some time to come back!“
“Chaunie’s is absolutely the best place to go for coffee! I’m a daily regular that can’t get enough of the coffees and tacos. My personal favorites are the cold brew with salted caramel and house made oat milk, hot mocha, caramel lattes, and tacos. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“
“Barn Door is fantastic! We were warmly greeted by the owners and then they explained their ciders and menu. We got a cider flight and a cheese board. It was delightful, delicious, and everything was excellent. The ciders were interesting, flavorful, and paired well with the cheese board. The atmosphere is very peaceful and a nice retreat away from the touristy, crowded mess of downtown Asheville. Barn Door Ciderworks is Asheville's best kept secret but it should be a secret no more!“
“This place ROCKS!! I LOVE what these guys & gals are doing for our community. Their ginger beer/soda/craft cocktails are all delicious and so tasty. Check out their specialty cocktails which constantly change with the seasons. Love the large, open space surrounded by pallets of cans, making you feel truly immersed in the product. The location is great and close to everything in Asheville along with plenty of parking. Do yourself a favor and do not miss this place!“
“The food was excellent--in taste and presentation. Ordered seered cauliflour on quinoa and kale--wonderful! The architecture of the place is interesting and intriguing. Greg and Dianne were musicians who kept us hanging around, drinking and laughing!Prices were a little high, and I wish there was twice the selection.“
“We had a wonderful experience at Fahrenheit Pizza. We brought some family with us from out of town. We had pizza, garlic knots and even tried their cannolis! The food was all very delicious, especially the pizza. And the staff were all very kind and inviting, especially Conrad. (He was the one that sold us on the cannolis) As a pizza snob, this place has inched its way into my top 3 pizza places in Asheville. Cheers!“
“Visited Asheville for a few days and I ate at this location twice. Once to dine in and the other was carry out.The service and engagement from the staff was great! It seemed like a place that gave permission for their staff to be themselves, while focusing on the customers experience. We felt comfortable and at home.We got there before a line formed. It seems to come in waves. We were there mid week around 6:30p. Nevertheless, we ordered our food, got seated and the food began to come out as it was ready. The good was very good. I tried the chicken and waffles to play it safe initially. The waffles, eaten immediately while hot was the best way to go for me. Very tasty. The chicken was also pretty good and flavorful. Well seasoned. Not just that seasoning on the outside but not on the inside foolery. I could’ve done with a little less breading but still good. I went with the chicken fingers type pieces to last on top the waffles. The sides. Maaaaaaaaan!!!!Loved the sweet potato, corn casserole and Mac & cheese. Loved em! Ordered them twice.Enjoy the spot! It’s worth the visit. .“
“Not to sound dramatic, but I legit had the best chai I’ve ever had here and their coffee is just as amazing. The perfect accompaniment while you hunt for treasures at Tobacco Barn! The owners are awesome humans to boot. Highly recommend!“
“A laid back family run winery. Very warm and welcoming vibes. There was live music when we arrived, that was a nice touch. The wine was tasty. I got a glass & my husband got a flight. He is usually a sweet wine drinker, but still liked 3/4 of his tasting despite them being on the drier side. I do think the bottle prices were a little bit on the high side. However, being a family owned business, I understand the time and hard work that went into each bottle & can respect their value. We do not live locally, but will stop by again the next time we’re in town.“
“This place has become a 'must' every time we visit BM. I was so excited to show our girls the biscuits 'as big as plates' and it was even better than I remembered. Everyone loved their meal. I ordered the Lookout with a side of grits. I literally can't find one thing that needs to be improved with the biscuit meal and the grits were honestly the best I've ever had. I was blown away. Tip: know that there's probably a wait here. We came on Friday morning and while there were a few tables open, they seemed short-staffed and we had to wait in line. But, people are waiting in line because it's totally worth it. I freaking love this place!“
“Couldn't love this place more. Small but mighty menu, great service and a very cool space - what else can I get ya? Had a bourbon/honey/thyme drink (well, two), a half greens salad with cilantro dressing and a Cuban bowl with mustard roasted pork. 11/10 across the board, and served up by a great crew. Definitely recommend,“
“I ordered the biggie breakfast and everything was well seasoned. My nephew enjoyed the blueberry pancakes. The food was so good I had to Google her. I ordered off of DoorDash. I plan to visit in person because I really enjoyed the food. I don’t have any photos because I devoured my food- it was that delicious“
“This is a cute restaurant with lots of character. My coffee mug said, "Ew...work." you order and pay at the podium and then lots of options for seating. The coffee is very flavorful without being bitter. The burrito was the best one I've ever had. My husband had the traditional and said it was really good. Service waa great. Definitely recommend for a tasty inexpensive breakfast.“
“What a very lovely place to stop and grab an ice cream cone and sit on the big front porch and just enjoy your Ice cream and the cool breeze blown across the porch. Service is great and the ice cream is delicious! I highly recommend the chocolate rasberry truffle.“
“I only had a latte, but it was terrific! Lovely little coffee shop, I've passed by it many times, only on the way to someplace& usually in the evening after they've closed. I had no food, but definitely will visit there again to try their “
“Love this place! It's a go to spot for me and my celiac husband. We drive here often (1.5hr drive) because the food is bomb, atmosphere is fun, and the staff are so sweet. The Gluten Free items are clearly marked. Great date night place! My favorite it the General Tso tacos and chips and queso!“
“Been going on and off for years. We love it. We wanted their mushroom soup but they were out. I think I'm one of the last ones to have the recipe on a postcard they used to sell. Delicious. We shared a club sandwich. Very good. Love Black Mountain!!?“
“Our first time trying Old School Subs & Salads was a game-changer. No other sub places need apply. By far the best sub sandwich I've had in a long time and I'm now committed to trying everything on their menu. What a great experience to walk into a new (to us) shop and be greeted with a friendly welcome! Every member of the crew was friendly and conversational. Made us feel right at home. The atmosphere is very casual and comfortable with a fun mural on the wall and a good amount of indoor seating. Looks like additional outdoor seating is also available on warm days. Old School Subs is now our go-to place in Asheville for sandwiches hot and cold.“
“My wife and I were here a couple weeks ago. I got the cheese steak and my wife got the Mac’s burger… we haven’t quit thinking and talking about the food since… the fires, the burger, the cheesesteak ALL OF IT. Simply amazing food and awesome service. It’s easy to see they take tons of pride in what they do.“
“This local beer is great and options for inside and outside is super comfortable for dog-loving families. Lively because of the warm , friendly patrons & associates. Food options are full of variety, flavor, quality, and value. A win-win-win all around.“
“An absolute gem in the Asheville craft beer scene and an easy hop from Sierra Nevada. My favorite this time was the limited release Where the Boat Leaves From - a delightful toasted coconut blonde ale. My husband chose an IPA flight and can’t decide between the Blue Ghost IPA and the Grapefruit IPA for his favorite. There is so much to love about what this brewery is up to! Their Hungry Ghost food truck was a delicious surprise and their firefly Biergarten is magical at twilight…“
“I was very surprised with this place... The food was freshly prepared and served with a large portion... They do not have table service.. You order and pay at the counter.. Food items were moderately priced and service was fairly fast... We had thunder storms the day we visited and had to eat inside..but they have great outdoor seating with nice views of the gardens.“
“Black Bear Tavern is my go-to place for top-notch breakfast food in a quanit environment. My coffee is constantly refilled and Lisa makes sure to make us feel at home during every visit. With this being a small establishment, she is sometimes running the show all by herself. But, she is dedicated to making sure everyone is her center of attention and makes time to have a laugh with everyone.“
“The gravy, potatoes, and green beans arrived cold. The gravy wasn't country gravy but more of a cheese sauce. we arrived about 1230pm, well after opening.Fried PicklesGarlic dill slices served with ranch dressingHouse Salad with Housemade Dressings: RanchCountry Fried SteakSirlion Steak Battered and Deep Fried served with mashed potatoes, green beans and country gravy.“
“Beer reigns supreme at Black Mountain Brewing, and you're sure to find something tempting when you stop in. If you're not sure, they'll have something to recommend from the plethora they offer. Personally, I've enjoyed their dark and seasonal beers, but they offer so much more to please multiple palates. If you're walking around Black Mountain and need a spot to take a load off, stop in! They've got cozy seating inside and two covered decks outside, complete with heaters for the chilly weather. Most often there's wonderful local acoustic music and singers out there to listen to while you enjoy their delicious beverages. And if you'd like food to accompany, you can bring something from one of the surrounding businesses or try their on site BBQ food truck that's parked out back-a treat if you enjoy BBQ! To top it off, the staff and service is always welcoming, helpful and at the ready for any questions!“
“We enjoyed a delicious breakfast here today. I had the breakfast scramble, an amazing blend of eggs, cheese, tomatoes, onions and the protein of your choice. It was served with delicious multigrain toast with HOMEMADE JAM! We both really enjoyed the grits with cheese too. Our server was friendly and the food was delivered to our table quickly. Go try this gem in South Asheville!“
“As far as 12 bones being goes. Environment is laid back and fun, staff where informative and responsive beer was good. I haven't had the BBQ here but I can't imagine it's much different then the other location..... Ribs are the best... Period!“
“Love this little brewery! The owner and staff are friendly and terrific people. The beer types are varied enough that everyone should find a favorite. The deck, lot and building provide lots of variety in seating to choose from. Mac's food truck has excellent cheeseburgers and cheesesteaks. Local friends keep the fire-pits burning in winter.“
“This is one of the best hidden gems in the city. Bar staff is knowledgeable about the products and the mixology. The owner, Rhett, is such a nice guy. He will sit with you, discuss his wares, tell you whatever you want to know. I highly recommend the Appalachian Fernet and the miller high life combination. Beautiful business.“
“Woah baby! The vanilla custard is out of this world! There are other flavors, some are very creative. The atmosphere is okay. The back corner opposite the entry door has a screen divider with storage behind it, and some of the bar seats are right there. I do love that there is a bar/stool seating option though, they are against windows so you can look outside.Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free flavors available!“
“Super nice people and quick service during a busy Sunday brunch hour. Served 9 people with the most amazing breakfast sandwiches (I had the egg, bacon and cheese on ciabatta with home made herb aioli), ate outdoors on the patio with a lovely breeze. Yum!“
“We ordered a Smokehouse Poutine and smoked olives. The poutine is curly fries (the best fries than I have ever tasted) and pulled pork, beer cheese sauce. The olives were a surprise for me, an incredible flavor! I recommend it. A great visit if you are around Black Mountain.“
“Got there early, before the kitchen was open, but they welcomed us in and sold us a beer. Cool place. Lots of room inside and twice as much room outside for when it's warm. Great people, Can't wait to get back out there and hear some music and enjoy the outside areas,“
“A great recommendation from a new friend. GORGEOUS views and spectacular atmosphere. Ok wines... Asheville is heavy on beers and breweries, obviously. But if you don't mind going a little out of your way, there are some great wineries hidden in them thar hills! After making friends with fellow trivia-ers who were local to the area, they suggested Stone Ashe to us for a visit the next day. The weather was spectacular, so a hilltop wine-sippin' trip was definitely in the cards. Just outside of the Asheville area, with plenty of parking, great service and unbelievable scenery! I am so glad we made the trip! Though I will say, I did not like any of the wines which I why I am withholding a fifth star. Taste is subjective, but I usually find something I would want a full glass of or a bottle to take home...not so much here. And it was not inexpensive. But overall, the visit here was more than the sum of its parts. They also offer food, but we had done brunch before we cam here so we didn't need to take advantage of that. I would be open to a return visit (assuming different wines had been made/released) especially with a group for a meal or a flight.“
“On a Friday, I had taken off work and decided I wanted to surprise the wife with lunch. We had been wanting Jamaican food for a few years, now. Since we had been dissatisfied with the last time we had some Jamaican food at a community event a few years ago, and we had given up hope. Then I saw the posts for ISLAND PAN in the mall and decided to grab some for our lunch yesterday at 12:30.First off, I asked for the Curry Goat as I love a good goat curry. Unfortunately, they only had Chicken Curry. The curry was an umami bomb but had 0 spice. I got yellow rice and mac n cheese, which were both flavorful and pasta was not overcooked. The curry sauce had invaded the Mac n cheese, but it made it even better than without it. I ordered the Jerk Chicken for her, with rice and peas and plantains. The jerk chicken was well seasoned and just sweet enough, but it wasn't spicy at all. Rice was not mushy, peas fully cooked and great with the sauce drizzled on it. Plantains were OK, but we may be spoiled from our island vacations, as they weren't anything special.I ordered a beef patty and coco bread, but no coc bread was available. I ordered the cheese patty, but it was not available as well, so I settled on 2 beef patties. I'm not sure if I lucked out or not, but those beef patties were the best thing we ate. A spicy ground beef mixture encased in a flakey crust that was a 10/10 for us.The magic markered food prices weren't what was shown on the internet but I'm fine with that because food costs. The biggest issue we had was food not being available, but for $15-20/person, we will 100% definitely be back because the portions are enough for 2-3 meals. I'll get the oxtail next time and hopefully the goat curry.7.5/10“
“I've been told about this place by many locals and I have to say... They were not wrong about the quality of product being presented, I had lunch with my food rep and he mentioned that this was his favorite kind of barbeque as well. (Texas/Kansas mix I believe) I had some burnt ends too which I somehow didn't get a picture of apparently, the customer service was as great as it gets, they were very knowledgeable and had a strong sense of pride backing their work/product. I will definitely be back! I'll review the brewery Attached later on, the brew-flight I had after my meal was phenomenal.“
“As a long-time bread and pizza maker at home, I picked this restaurant based on pictures of the pizza crust—beautiful open crumb that looked like it would be crisp and chewy without being dense. I was not disappointed! Excellent pizza. Tuscan salad was the perfect complement. Loved watching the pizza being made, too.“
“We loved this place. The owner ( although he said his wife was the owner, maybe he was joking) made the experience really fun. He was very funny and also helpful as we were new to the area. He really kept us entertained. (But it was encouraged, he was not overly intrusive at all) The food was delicious. Fresh beautifully arranged on the plate and at a very good price. I wish we lived closer I would go back for dinner. He was smoking ribs that afternoon and they smelled delicious. Overall great experience. Enjoyed sitting on the beautiful patio where many people had their pets with them.I would highly recommend this place.“
“A local gem. My family really enjoys Ole's. The food is always great, friendly and helpful staff, affordable prices. We get takeout more than we dine in and they never mince on takeout orders.During peak times, parking can get crazy, but people just park in the grass along the street on the opposite side of the restaurant.Sit out back when the weather is nice!“
“Friendly staff, great local beers, and a nice tavern style pizza. The crust was thicker than I’m used to — midwestern joints serve these up cracker thin — but it tasted great, so no complaints. They also have Detroit style crust and a huge variety of toppings, so you can add to a predefined pie or build one from scratch.“
“Great lunch at Black Bear BBQ, a great bbq place tucked back in the corner of the shopping center near Hamrick’s. We had the pulled pork sandwich, slaw, mac & cheese, sweet potato casserole, everything was very good. Quick service and great bbq!“
“Wow! We wanted traditional, hand tossed pizza and NOT a tiny Neapolitan style pie. French Broad Pizza was just what we wanted, huge slices, fresh from the oven, delicious ingredients and reasonable prices considering the size of the pizzas. The pizza counter is in the rear of French Broad Brewery and the neighboring distillery. It's very charming and has outdoor seating on its deck. We really enjoyed the pizza and the setting. Highly recommend French Broad Pizza ?????“
“Fun ice cream shop, we came twice on our week-long trip to the area. Some hit or miss flavors - not sure if it was just a bad scoop but we had some with mix-ins that ended up just tasting like vanilla. The lavender and lemon blueberry flavors were our favorite. We loved the fun color changing spoons (this was possibly a major factor in the trip back, my husband and I are pretty easily entertained). Service was great and friendly even though we got there late.“
