Tailgunner Brewing & Acme Pizza Brewery •
1602 10 Ave SW, Calgary

“I organized an 8 person meetup at Tailgunners on a Tuesday night for their trivia Tuesdays event. Firstly, their taproom is beautiful. They have large doors that roll up in good weather. Unfortunately the patio was covered in snow but I’d love to return in the summer.I didn’t eat but most of my friends ordered pizza. The pepperoni pizza was loaded with pepperoni and was reported to be “greasy but good”.They had local cider in cans. I really liked the Sour of Love sour peach. Will definitely return!“

Cabin Brewing Company Brewery • $$
505 36 Ave SE, Calgary

“Cabin is a favourite, but our recent visit pushed me over the edge to write a review. We frequent with our two kiddos under 3, and this last time noticed a thoughtfully well-stocked bathroom with a change table, wipes, and diapers of varied sizes. In a city where change tables aren’t even a guarantee— this was a welcoming surprise.“

“The taproom is super comfortable and located favorably in a very trendy part of town. Ample parking and completely accessible, this unpretentious place has an amazing secret! The standard 8 pours cover all the bases, from light and playful to full-flavored, the 8 seasonal offerings are always worth a try as well, with distinct, different, well-crafted adventures.Bar service only, there's no wait-staff, aside from the barkeep. There's a "food truck" that's permanent at the tap house, A1 Burrito... Birria, Pollo and Carnitas all prepared so well you're going to forget about your beer! Chips and guacamole only after 9pm.Inclusive place, nongendered facilities, doggos welcome, patio seating.“

“Awesome place! I was there on a Friday and had a small beer and a slice of pepperoni pizza for $9! I have been to Dandy since I used to Can their beer, 5 years ago, and even then their food and beer menu was OUT OF THIS WORLD! It's a small place, you have seating inside and outside, with fire pits in the winter. They do small batch brewing, and their beer menu has its core line and new brews that are varied and almost experimental at times!! One thing about Dandy, you know that scene in Ratatouille? Where the critic takes a bit of the food and goes back to his childhood. I have had that happen to me at least FOUR times either eating or drinking something for the first time. In total that has happened to me probably 8 times since I moved to Calgary, the other times have all been single experiences at different restaurants. The food menu is a bit pricey, as well as the beer, but you are not paying the jacked up price of another restaurant that is carrying a Dandy product. Skip the middle man and head down, they also have interesting shows or music going on!“

Good Mood Brewery Brewery • $

“Rarely do I go to a brewery and really like all the beers they have on tap. The beers were exactly as described and appropriate for the style of beer. My favourite was the IPA. The Hefeweizen has a banana smell and tasting notes which is interesting. The server was really nice and offered us pretzels and brownie to complement the porter. Leaving in a better mood.“

“What do you get when you see a dream fulfilled, risks taken and rewards realized? Tool Shed Brewery and BBQ. Having the brass to open a restaurant at the height of Covid or going to the mat with the government to help legitamize microbreweries, Graham is a force of nature. His success has been hard earned with sweat, tears and the kind of good luck only courage and passion bring. What also comes with courage and passion is unsurpassed quality.I came there for ribs and not only did I have the best ribs of my life -a sentiment echoed by a server with her comment 'I wish I could have them for the first time again'- but the flat hat stout surpassed Guiness or any other I've ever had.Dreams come true, hard work prevails and in the mean time, there's some great beer and BBQ for everyone. Highly recommend.“

Zero Issue Brewing Brewery • $$
4210 12 St NE, Calgary

“Comic book beers. The #1 reason I was initially attracted to this brewery was that they have THE BEST labels on their cans. So much so that it has now come to a point where I wait impatiently to go buy the next released issue. "It's a bird, it's a plane!.. No, no, it's Superman, having a beer"."Where's Mr. Wayne, Alfred?". "My apologies Sir, but he's currently at the pub"Not to diminish the flavours they have, their product is excellent. I have my likes and dislikes, but it's all part of the excitement of the next issue! Galactus' desire to eat planets is only part of the plan, he likes to chase it with a beer.“

Last Best Brewing & Distilling Brewery • $$
607 11 Ave SW, Calgary

“Happy hour food and drinks is relatively decent. Service started great with a free sampler, but fell off the cliff when we said we were waiting for happy hour that was 10 minutes away- clearly she didn’t want to serve us after that comment. Frozen Burnt Martini was good but appears to be a bartender malfunction that served me with a half glass full- I pointed it out to the server and he said it was normal, even though the previous order was at least 3/4 full. Bizarre but sure: enjoy your tip. Pizza was good, and I recommend the wings plain (salt and pepper) as it’s pretty crunchy. Korean spicy bbq sauce was decent.“

“I don't even have the words for how amazing this hidden gem is. From the moment we walked in to us leaving, it just kept getting better! Richard is the absolute best! The food... OHH MY GOD! Their meat is to die for! Canada's BIGGEST indoor smoker. The drinks! Those will be my one & only from now on! Free sweater! The only downside was the blue haired waitress needs to learn manners! There was multiple times she treated us with a rude attitude. We won't let 1 person wreck this review tho! We LOVE Richard and whoever makes those drinks!! We will definitely be back and have already bragged to all our friends about you!“
