“The first thing I would like to address is that it's a very unique place and does fit the 50s theme. Otherwise, I will be talking about my experiences and will base my rating on the 3 categories (food, service, environment/atmosphere)When walking into the restaurant, it was very tight and compact. No more than 6-7 people can fit inside, hence the seats outside and behind the restaurant. Restaurant holds the 50s theme inside and uses an old milkshake mixing machine, which was a nice touch. No washroom available, so make sure you have something to clean your hands with.Service was neutral, nothing much to talk about. We order, wait, get the food, and eat. Honestly, it doesn't make a memorable experience, but my expectations weren't high. The food, however, impressed me. Thick cut grandma fries were alright, and some don't maintain crispness for a long period of time. The LA burger, on the other hand, was very nice. Housemade bun held all the ingredients together and did not crumble. The patty was nicely seasoned and had the grill char flavor. The mushrooms, bacon, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes combined nicely offer a perfectly balanced burger. One tiny gripe I had was that my burger had more mustard than anticipated. When it came down to the milkshake, I was thoroughly impressed. Perfect balance of sweetness, and you can taste the ice cream, milk, and then the strawberry. Simply amazing! Before I left, I decided to try the bulldog. It was alright, but bun held everything together but proved to be messy to consume. The amount of mustard added was again too much, and other than the sausage (which was nice and had a nice slight char smoky flavor and the casing pops) was all I tasted. I'm not too impressed with it compared to the burger.Overall, it's an impressive burger spot and definitely hits the spot if you are looking for a quality burger. Probably would recommend eating on an outside table, bringing your own hand wipes, and don't expect an amazing customer service from the establishment. Would definitely come back if im passing by Burnaby and craving a burger and milkshake. Would recommend to friends and family!“
“My family and I had a really great lunch there this weekend. It was pouring rain, but we were in the "solarium-like" outside patio that was warm and cozy with views of the marina and mountains. It was totally enjoyable and I would highly recommend it.“
“I am a huge fan of fish and chips. This place becomes one of my favorite.I ordered cod n chip + clam chowder. If you are used to creamy chowder then you might not like it. Fish is very good and fries are excellent. This place beats all the one in Richmond BC.Deep fried foods are all greasy but at least after eating their fish & chips, it doesn’t make me feel I have a scoop of oil inside my mouth.“
“Not a fish and chips expert but I think theirs is great. I liked the crispy batter on the fish, and the fish was good too. Chips had a nice crunch to them. There some oil since it's fried but just enough I think. Passed by this place frequently but hadn't gone in till now. The exterior is very unassuming. Inside it's actually spacious, if nothing extravagant.“
“When I say this place it amazing.... It is amazing. We stayed down in Vancouver for a couple days, and after finding this place the first night we were staying, I went there almost every day for the rest of the trip. Everyone there is so nice, and works very hard. The crunchy garlic wrap is, just the most amazing wrap, I've ever had. 1000000% will be back, every time I am in Vancouver, I will make the extra effort to go there.“
“Went in for the "All you can eat" fish n chips. Was a good experience, each piece of fish was much bigger than I expected. Couldn't go past 3 pieces because it is deep fried and quite oily, I did feel that the oil could've probably been drained out better. But they did deliver as promised! My advice is, don't waste much of ur appetite on the fries as you don't have to finish the fries before ordering more fish.“
“Wow. This place was incredible. The food the service the people. It doesn't get any better then this. Honestly the best oyster bar I've ever been too. Its a must try. Black caviar, fresh prawns beautiful chowder. Wow wow wow. They are doing it right.“
“Time travelers rest stop. $8.99 for two pieces of battered cod English style with hand cut fries cooked to perfection and homemade tartar sauce and homemade coleslaw?? Sign me up. Surreal place. Muzak sets the tone. What's not to like. Our portion was suitably massive for... did I mention? $8.99?? 1970s prices. 1970s decor. Visit and support. Absolutely nothing but cool.“
“The most tasty light crispy batter on fish. It was so wonderful. Coleslaw the greatest. I lived close for 20 years n looked for good fish n chips. I went everywhere and turned out this is the BEST!!!!!! ONLY this location. Not the fancy atmosphere bet the greatest food.“
“I ordered halibut fish and chips and hot wings. The fish was beyond perfect and the wings were delicious. Even the coleslaw which I normally wouldn’t eat was simple but great. I can’t decide if I’ll be back to try new items or to get more fish constantly ?“
“Wife and I went there yesterday tried all you can eat pollock and chip with drink included you gotta love this place cheap and good could not go beyond the 6 pieces given to me, but I was tempted. Waitress waited on us superbly. Will be going back soon“
“Fantastic fish n chips! Been here twice in the last week for fish and chips.. we order the two piece halibut and chips as it’s just enough for two of us and let me tell you it’s probably the best on the Northshore.. the fish is fresh, made to order, batter is proper and super crisp, fries are piping hot and done proper (pretty sure they blanch the fries proper before frying to crispy goodness) served with great tartar and lots of malt vinegar (they are happy to let you grab some lemon slices if you prefer).. all in all if you live on the Northshore and like great fish and chips you need to go here.. PSA.. as it’s made fresh you need to wait maybe 10 minutes or so maybe longer if they’re busy but it’s worth it.. I’d rather wait then get a lesser product..“
“It had such a high rating that I had to check it out.Food I would have given you a 4.5 out of 5, but you were better than a 4, so 5 it is. It was the small plates that did it for me. It was the illusion of more food than there was. On the whole the food was excellent, a good choice of potatoes very good flavor. I had the Haddock one of my favorite good flavourful fish. Coleslaw was brilliant. That was a bang on taste. I enjoyed it.Had a pint to go with it. But I wasn't here for the beverages.Service great, she didn't come over and bug me all the time which I prefer, the once check up was fine.Did I enjoy it? Yes, so much so, I got another to go, too. I wanted to see how they reheated. The next day, heated them up and once again great. Maybe a bit of grease proof paper in there to stop the grease coming through the paper. Will I return you bet I will? It was worth the drive across the city, plus next time, I liked the look of the pies. I'm not a mushy pea fan even though I'm British. But curry sauce heck, yeah, sad to see there wasn't any. Thanks for a good meal.“
