“Exceptional flavour every time - the African spices are so welcome on the West Coast, the perfect thing to warm your bones and take you for a mini vacation as you bask in the thoughtfully imagined dishes so unique from anything I've tasted in BC.A great chef and excellent team who are capable of reproducing greatness again and again. Big thank you to you all for bringing something fresh and inspiring to a scene of parm fries, calamari, flatbreads and... Well you know already because the typical spread here is BORING - House of Boateng is a haven we're blessed to have. Thank you again Chef and Co. All a bunch of beauties! The chicken crepe is amazing, that sauce!!“
“As usual the food was perfect and the descriptions fascinating. What a happy night and it was educational and original and outstanding flavours and attention to detail. Service was excellent and everyone in both the front and back of house worked excellently. The reason one star is missing is simple: we loved the long tables and meeting everyone, but those benches (even with the pillows I brought) are just cruel. For an hour, OK, but for 3 hours the benches are torture.“

“one of my favourite cafes in victoria!!! the food and baked goods are amazing, and I really appreciate having access to so many sweets without dairy (as someone who is lactose intolerant)!!! the staff is super friendly and helpful as well, and I always have a super enjoyable experience when I come here! the chocolate hazelnut cookies are ridiculously good, as well as the muffins, cinnabunnies, and cheesecake! the vegan breakfash sandwich is delicious as well!Dietary restrictions: So many dairy and gluten free options!“
“Had a blast here. The owner was spectacularly passionate about board games and made everything fun. Right now, the prices at Board with Friends TOO cheap, not sure how they stay in business? Hopefully they will raise it later. Take advantage of it while you can!“

“Nice Surprise: the coffee was perfect ( good flavour but excessively thick), their muffin was fresh and delicious and the couple working there were very pleasant. They offered me butter for the muffin and it was warmed up. Perfect coffee spot.Too bad I walked past it many times and never tried their stuff. Muffins, scones, Nanaimo bars, cookies, bagels, sandwiches, etc all looked fresh and tasty.“

“Pros: Awesome food that includes doughnuts to actually breakfast and sandwiches, but still a cafe format. Patio and location are both on point. Friendly, attentive staff. Chairs with backsCons: A bit pricey. Seating is better than 90% of the cafes in the downtown but it’s not a spot to post up, if you feel my meaning.Overall: I’m surveying all the cafes in the downtown and this is my favorite spot so far. Come for the food, stay for the atmosphere on the patio. Would absolutely recommend.“

“We were looking for a nice lunch spot on our trip to Victoria and came across this place on google, the reviews were great so figured we would give it a try. So glad we did! The great reviews are warranted. We each got a sandwich, the chicken and the pork and we both loved them. I also got a side of soup and the small is perfect size to enjoy and go with your sandwich. We aren’t riders but still thought the theme and decor was super neat. If ever back in Victoria we will definitely be visiting again.“

“We were visiting Victoria and by chance met Fadi- one of the owners who told us about his family’s cafe. We LOVE Lebanese food so decided to check it out for lunch. We had chicken shawarma donairs and tabouleh and loved it. But most of all his family is so kind and warm and the cafe is super cute! Thank you!“
“They used to be on Broadway in Vancouver. I had a flat nearby and used to get roasted coffee from them. Joke(Dutch spelling, pronounced Yo-ka), and her partner ran the place. I tell my friends that their Belgian chocolate was ambrosia. The best I’ve had. Danke Yoka❤️“

“Wandering, looking for breakfast. As we walked toward what we thought we were going to have for breakfast, we passed the Sour Pickle. The smell of breakfast wafting from the restaurant grabbed my sniffer and led us to the front of the store to look at the menu. A Quick Look and we decided to give the pickle a go. Me and the boss decided on the Mexican omelet and a coffee. What a meal. Toast and crisp, delicious hash browns shared the plate with the main attraction, an enormous three egg omelet stuffed with peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon and onions topped with cheese and salsa sauce. The boss had me finish her omelet but by God I finished all mine too…. Thankfully we had a walk back to the hotel to work some of that big breakfast off.Prices are in line with every other place here in Victoria, however this is a local, husband and wife team that make awesome food and seem genuinely happy to be serving their brand of home cooking to the people. I wouldn’t hesitate to drop in again when we return and try another menu item, wish we had found you sooner!“

“Visited on a Saturday night. Staff was great to help me reserve for a larger group of 6 people. Our server was lovely and very attentive. We all loved our food, cocktails and some had dessert that was well enjoyed. A tad pricy but I'd say very worth it for a special night out. I had the lamb shank and savoured it and have to say the polenta base that it came on was out of this world...never had anything like that. So good!“

“Came here for a second time to get “the Canadian” breakfast sandwich and a “chicken pesto” panini. Then a vanilla late and the handsome man behind the counter recommended me the cortado, which was absolutely awesome. All around a great place, one of the best cafes in Victoria.“

“Super cute family business with friendly service. Although the coffee isn't the best, the breakfast bagels for around 7 CAD are amazing and the homemade banana bread aswell. Everything is very decently priced and tastes amazing. Perfect place for an affordable and quick breakfast! Not the most striking place frome the outside, but definitely more than worth the price!!!“

“The Marigold Cafe is an absolute must-visit spot, especially when you're out on a bike trip around the peninsula. I frequently stop here during my rides, and it has become my favorite break spot. Not only is it a great place to recharge with a snack and some energy, but the atmosphere is just perfect for a relaxing pause. The cafe is always clean, giving a refreshing and welcoming vibe. Additionally, the staff are consistently friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant experience. It's a little haven for cyclists and anyone looking for a cozy spot to unwind. Highly recommend!“
“I always stop here if I’m riding the Galloping Goose trail. It’s a bright, sunny cafe with a great selection of delicious drinks, food, ice cream and more. They have really great outdoor seating for sunny days as well as a good-sized indoor space. Great place for a coffee, a snack, and a conversation.“

“The atmosphere was lovely! I spend my free time visiting cafes in Victoria, and by far Hey Happy is my favourite. I strongly recommend visiting! I got the coconut milk iced latte and the flavours were perfectly balanced making it my new go to drink.“

“Absolutely delicious! We had both savoury and sweet crepes and they were so flavourful. I had an iced coffee and it was made very well. Nice and strong. Highly recommend. The only thing I’d say was that it was extremely hot inside and no blinds. Not sure if the heat is always like that or it was a one off. Still a great experience.“
“I work in the area and whenever I run into Selkirk Cafe for a coffee or treat I’m greeted by the most wonderful staff! Everyone is so kind, even when tackling a long lineup of customers.Drinks are well made, especially the matcha which is hand whisked to order ? The baked goods and breakfast items are high quality as well.“

“I’m originally from the Carolinas and my husband and I have lived in Victoria since 2019. We’ve been walking past Shanzee’s for a while now and decided to have breakfast there this morning. It didn’t disappoint. The biscuits and gravy were just like “home” and my iced oat milk latte was just what I needed. The Blue Grit pancakes were unique and delicious. Thank you for being here! We’ll definitely be back.“

“It is a bit out of the way, but definitely worth the stop. If you're headed to the ferry or airport, you should take a little detour for a pre-departure meal or snack. Their specialty lattes are great and I'm sure all the other pastries are good. I only ever get the vanilla custard Danish and I'm never disappointed. If you go in the summer they also have in-house refreshers as well which are also very good. If they break into charcuterie it would be a perfect place for me, at least.“

“So lucky to have this amazing little café in our community. The food is always incredible and everything is sourced locally if possible. Shannon takes genuine pride in what she puts in your cup or on your plate, and the conversation is always great. The only down side is it encourages me not to cook breakfast at home because you just can’t knock off those Broken Eggers!Vegetarian options: Great Vegetarian breakfast options.“

“LOVE their vegan sandwiches. It’s a budget-friendly place with lovely staff and the BEST vegan brownie I’ve ever had. Lattes are great and milkshakes reportedly superb friends tell me. It’s a bustling place where finding a table at lunch can be a challenge but you worth that small hurdle.“
“Cute deli-style restaurant with lots of options for a quick work lunch, including a daily feature. Great selection of desserts too, and super nice counter staff. Beautiful outdoor seating area covered in a plant canopy. Loses one star for inconsistency of stuff cooked behind the grill doors, like french fries.“

“who knew it would cost $3.25 - $3.5 for a side of buffalo sauce? Who knew it would cost $3 - $4 to have the fried chicken done Nashville style? A heads up by the server ought to be mandatory. Also, why remove the salmon benny from the menu? it was my go to item.“

“Sunnyside is my go-to breakfast spot. It’s a cozy location. Consistently good food and service. Coffee tastes good. I’ve been to likely half of the breakfast places in Victoria and still while there are some places that may have more selection or variety I prefer and recommend this place for its consistency and tasty all day breakfasts. I typically only get breakfast Eggs Benny breakfasts with drip coffee.“
“Love this place. A wonderful, vibrant, wholesome, all-ages atmosphere. Every time we have gone a member of the staff has assisted us in learning how to play a new board game. This is the place we played our first REALLY (understatement) awesome co-operative board game. Now all we play are co-operative board games.“

“A Victoria institution, unique and amazing enough that if you’re visiting the island, you should absolutely go out of your way to visit, and walk the North Park area. The exterior and Mason street is packed with awesome graffiti. For ordering: recommend the ham & cheese sandwich which has jaw dropping flavor combinations of sweet, savoury & spicy; the breakfast danish and a finale treat: the blueberry custard tart. ❤️“

“Well, my husband pretty much only considers Frank's for breakfast, and despite it not being that convenient for myself to get to on the way to work, I still love joining him for breakfast at Frank's when I can. Henry knows my husband's order and we are so promptly served everything we need the moment we sit down. We have gone here since well before Covid, and are so happy that it's around.“
“I order food for someone who really needs it. High praise to those who started Red Cedar Cafe and its excellent service to the public. You are heros. The food is healthy and nutritious and caters to a variety of tastes. High praise too to everyone who has carried on delivering these much needed meals to all of their grateful recipients. You are also heros who deserve much more praise. I also love you have a sliding scale so people who can afford it can donate or even order a meal themselves. The only reason I am giving four stars instead of five is because ordering on line is a little too complicated. I am happy to give suggestions to improve this if asked. Currently, it is my understanding that only agencies can call in with orders. It would be nice if luddite individuals could also just phone in. When I go on holidays the fellow I help goes without meals.Dietary restrictions: If I were to be requiring this service I would need more gluten free options.Kid-friendliness: You help families. Bless your hearts.“
